Legend Heroes (South Korean Tokusatsu) 2016 - Full Series Info Thread
1 Attachment(s)
This thread is meant to be an informative thread about the South Korean series "Legend Hero(es)". Nothing should be taken as 100% official or 100% accurate, as it is based on loose translations available on public YouTube channels. The Story (SPOILERS) A group of self-proclaimed Angels (all sharing the name of intelligent advisors from the age of the Three Kingdoms in Chinese lore) travel to the realm of Earth and give Hero Icons to individuals who have immense "Hero Power" and share a name with an "ancient mythological hero during the time of creation". An Angel woman by the name of Xu Shu happens to visit Earth and runs in to some trouble when she doesn't pay for some clothing. She is saved by a young, eager man who makes more of a fool of himself than anything as he tries to show off his non-existent martial arts skill. After she is saved by him (he ends up paying for the dresses), he identifies himself to her as Liu Bei. Recognizing the name as an ancient Warlord, she chases him down and gives him the Guan Yu Hero Icon and Changer. In time, Liu Bei realizes exactly what he's part of - the Dream Battle - where these warlords battle with their hero icons. The winner will have their dream made reality and their Hero Icons turned in to humans. The losers will lose all memory of their time as a warlord, but their wish will also NEVER come true, and the Hero Icons turned to stone as they perish. Who will win the Dream Battle? |

Forms - Guan Yu (green, sword) - Zhang Fei (axe, orange) - Zhao Yun (spear, blue) - Huang Zhong (bow/gun, purple) - Ma Chao (fist, yellow) - Liu Bei Imperial (Imperial Sword, green) Angel - Xu Shu - Zhuge Liang SPOILERS BELOW, BEWARE! Liu Bei's real name is Liu Jin. His parents were gone (doesn't state where, why, or how) and so his older brother Liu Zhang was raising the both of them. Liu Bei wanted some chocolate because the other boys had chocolate, so Liu Zhang went out to get him some but was involved in a car accident and didn't come home. Scared, Liu Bei was alone and soon ended up in an orphanage. In the orphanage he befriended a small, young girl who was being bullied by the other orphans. They became close friends. When the orphanage was being threatened with being destroyed by a gang of men wanting money, a warrior named Lu Zhi appeared and defeated the gang and adopted Liu Bei and the young girl. He said they had new lives now and with new lives came with new names. Thus, Liu Bei was given his name and the young girl became Gongsun Zan. They joined the (exact name later) dojo and became students. Liu Bei was never a great martial artist - he paled in comparison to Gongsun Zan - but that didn't stop him from trying to do his absolute best. A third student - He Jin - was also at the dojo and was the best student, often bringing in money to the dojo by winning different matches. But He Jin was a bully and disliked Liu Bei and Gongsun Zan and often pushed them around and had them do meaningless chores to the point they were frightened of him. One day, Liu Bei was out to run errands and came across a beautiful young lady being chased by shop clerks. He thought they were attacking her so he tried to defend her but was easily beaten by the clerks. They told him she had stolen the dresses and she was in shock - she wasn't aware she had to pay for them. He pays for the dresses and wishes her well and leaves, introducing himself as Liu Bei. The lady recognizes the name and chases after him. She informs him she is the Angel known as Xu Shu, and that he shares a name with a hero of legend and thus must joint he Dream Battle as a Legend Hero. She gives him the Guan Yu Hero Icon and the two become partners and friends. A monstrous brute appears after Liu Bei has transformed in to Guan Yu, and the two fight. Excited that he is now a superhero, Liu Bei spends the next day transforming in to Guan Yu to help all the people in the village with their tasks. Guan Yu is displeased that Liu Bei is wasting his power on meaningless tasks. Liu Bei exudes that if he has the power to help people then that is the right thing to do. Liu Bei learns that the bully of his dojo, He Jin, is actually a Legend Hero as well, and is using the Wang Kuang Hero Icon. They battle and Liu Bei defeats He Jin and destroys his Legend Hero henshin device. It is then that Liu Bei learns that when you destroy their henshin device, you destroy them as a Legend Hero, erasing their memory during that time as well as destroying their dream. Appalled that he destroyed another's dream, Liu Bei states he will no longer destroy the dreams of anyone. Halfway through the series the Royal Seal informs the Angels that anyone with two Hero Icons can contract an Angel to join them in battle if they pass a test. Liu Bei immediately wants Xu Shu, but she is wary because she is the weakest Angel in Heaven. However, after Liu Bei passes the test, he continues to want Xu Shu (who tries to say she already has a contract with Zhuge Liang, another Angel). After hearing his speech and seeing him protect her against Zhang Jue's forces, Xu Shu decides to join him to win the Dream Battle. After Liu Bei finishes reconciling the differences between Liu Biao and Liu Qi, Dong Zhuo appears and transforms in to Lu Bu, which confuses everyone as Lu Bu should have been destroyed. Lu Bu strikes down Liu Biao and Liu Qi, and then kills Xu Shu. Liu Bei goes in to a fit of rage, unleashing Hero Power never before seen, and manages to take down Lu Bu. However, Dong Zhuo announces that he is different - Lu Bu is now tied directly to Dong Zhuo - destroying Lu Bu will kill Dong Zhuo! Now without an Angel, Liu Bei returns home to find a note that Xu Shu left him telling him to go to Heaven and give this second note to Zhuge Liang and that Zhuge Liang would become his new Angel. ....To Be Continued... |

Didn't we already have a Legend Heroes thread? And I'm an avid watcher of the series. Watch it every week when a dubbed episode is released.
Nevermind, realized what's happening here. Ignore this post then. :lolol |
lol our dedicated thread was dead for 3 months, and 6 months before that one post. I AM BRINGING IT BACK WITH A FLURRY
|
*holds up Ji Ling piece* I'm all in for this thread.
|
It's good to see that the love for Legend Heroes still lives on in one way or another. I need to really catch up on it though. I should try and avoid this thread for the time being to avoid any spoilers.
|
I ordered a ton of the merchandise. Will do full photo galleries and reviews.

Took a break during SDCC and am catching back up now. Sun Ce just joined the fray and revealed after a tie fight with Liu Bei that he too has 3 Hero Icons.
|
Yes. Sun Ce is a good character. He's loyal to his family and friends. But! He's as stubborn as an ox.
|
In the official history (if you can call it that as this is all based on Chinese history which is embellished like a mofo) Sun Ce succeeded his father, Sun Jian, after his father was shot and killed by 3 arrows by Huang Zhu, a tenant of Liu Biao. Sun Ce died only a couple of years after he took the throne and gave way to his younger brother, Sun Quan, who united Wu but eventually surrendered to Cao Cao.
|
Quan, in this story, is a martial arts genius. Or so Sun Ce calls him, and is Sun Ce's younger brother. Cao Cao, as you've seen by now, is a power to be reckoned with.
|
I am now 100% caught up.
Love this show to death. |
Ep 47 came out. Kind of annoying that Liu Bei keeps finding AMAZING POWER in his current forms. This is the 2nd or 3rd time now in the last 10 or so episodes that he's "POWERED UP BUT STILL IN THE SAME FORM!". Some real Dragon Ball shit going on here :lol
|
Updating with graphics
|
I like how he's doing it. Who said that you have to change in form to gain power? I mean we as people grow strong and don't go through some major change in appearance to accomodate it. Well, of course there bodybuilders, but I think you know what I'm getting at. XD
|
I'm brutally behind on this series...but from what I've watched thus far, very sound stuff. Classic Toku.
|
Gah!!! Episode 49 is up on YouTube and omg :cry
|
The show updated with it's final episode yesterday. Bittersweet. A great finale, and I loved that they wrapped up every story they brought in. A couple tear jerker moments for sure
|
Yes. It was a very good show. My only nitpick was that we didn't really get to see Guan Yu and gang in human form. Yes we got back of the heads with colored strips of hair, but no faces. Shame.
Also, word on those toys? |
Just finished all 50 episodes! I'm a bit disappointed I didn't finish 49 in time to watch the finale as shown as it aired but I digress.
It was a great series, I found the premise really unique in terms of toku by being based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, or at least I think that's where all the names and personalities come from, I haven't actually read the novel. Story wise, I loved how every character got a moment to shine in some way. I really hope the show was a success in Korea, because I'd love to see what else they could do in the toku genre. |
They just released 2 new videos. One was a behind the scenes video, sadly it wasn't subbed. And the other was a trailer for something with EX in the title. I wonder what that means? Oh well, it says it's coming next week!
|
Doing a story now. Episode 26 and 27 had over 15 minutes cut to fit it for television. Those pieces were released in a special screening with the last Ultraman movie in South Korea. It was titled "Legend Hero EX". That would appear to be what this is.
|
Oh wow.
So quick question. Any word on those toys yet? |
Well, all 50 episodes are out.
To be honest, with Legend Heroes quickly becoming one of my favorite Toku (I'm in the home stretch of the last 10 episodes), I'd like to see what else Korea can dish out. Seriously, this is amazing! |
It's an awesome show, loved it a whole lot. Sadly there isn't word of a follow up. I read somewhere that most Korean shows generally only run for one season.
|
Thanks for this thread. I have started watching this show and am up to Episode 10. I am enjoying it quite a bit so far, especially the way it plays with familiar patterns while doing some different things with them, like not actually having any monsters in the normal sense.
I am finding it odd watching this after so many Japanese Tokus though since I expect to be able to understand some of the common words and phrases but since it's in Korean I mostly don't. Although I occasionally catch a word which is similar in both languages. Anyway, cool find. |
Finished Episode 20. The show's even better now. Pretty awesome find.

That's got to be one of the best things I've ever watched. Aside from a few minor special effect failures, and some translation errors, it was pretty spectacular. Even seemingly minor stuff set up at the beginning of the show had a payoff at the end, and the conclusion was one of the most satisfying I have every watched. Now I'm just sad that I can't actually own the thing on video. Hope it stays up on Youtube a while, because that is definitely worth a second watching at some point. Also this managed to consume most of a week in which I stopped doing most other recreational things, which is pretty unusual. So yeah, if you haven't seen this, go watching it now. EDIT: Just realized looking back on my previous comment that this means I have watched 30 episodes in a day and a half. Wow. |
The twist with his teacher. I mean we all knew it, but the actual twist behind him, that I did not see.

And, knowing my history of these characters, learning that Zhang Jue was actually working for Sima Yi was kind of an OMG moment for me. |

I'm on episode 48 and I'm a bit confused. Though it may just be my inattentiveness.
So, on episode 39, the Angels said the heroes have 36 hours to end the dream battle, or else the world will be destroyed. Do the next ten episodes take place during those 1.5 days? 'Cause if so, this is the fastest endgame I've seen in a Toku. Also, because Cao Cao (Jojo, iirc) didn't get the Imperial Piece and win the Dream Battle, Sima Yi was all "Use the Dark Pentagon- you will be more powerful than Liu Bei and get the Golden Piece." And Jojo believed him, and underwent all that torture to become Kaiser. But in reality, Sima Yi was all "I'm the main villain, I will get the Royal Seal, I will rule the Heaven and Earth, Jojo will be my slave, villain stuff". Am I correct on that assumption? Also, dang this show is awesome. Last few episodes took a whole new level in creepy. EDIT: DAAAAAAANG! That ending was full of closure! This show was a treat for me, really, it was! At first, I found it boring. But as soon as episode 12 hit, I became quite invested in the story. Cao Cao, Sun Ce, and Liu Bei..... you three will be missed. But, seriously, can we talk about that climactic fight against Sima Yi?! That was amazing! |
Quote:
Ok. Let me try to make sense here. The whole 35 hours thing was accelerated because of the Dark Pentagon reviving and making more Warlords. So by defeating the extra Warlords they were able to buy some more time. |
