The End of the Power Rangers?
I’m not sure whether this is true, but the website has been on the ball with every other news related to PR recently. https://t.co/peqHUp4IJC

It wouldn't be the end of Power Rangers, it would just mean that Hasbro would be taking it in their own direction instead of being reliant on whatever Japan did 2-5 years ago. Knowing Hasbro, that probably means all MMPR, all the time. Why make new stuff when you can make bank off of nostalgia?
|
Well I'd forsee it more like Boom. MMPR but it would move away from the Zyuranger designs. Boom is doing plenty of new things without banking on nostalgia alone. The Omega Rangers maybe have Jason, Zack, and Trini but they aren't exactly the ones from the show.
Also changing teams/cast/characters every year does not help maintain a fanbase. They may make new transformers cartoons but it always follows some kind of Optimus Prime(but never primal...........), Bumblebee, Megatron, and the real lead, Starscream. A lot of times keeping the same voice actors. So it wouldn't hurt Power Rangers as a brand to stick to one group for a bit.......and then spin off like they were Stargate/Star Trek. |
Yeah this would basically mean all original stuff from end of Dino Fury onward.
Given the reception of the BOOM! Studio comic continuity, I wouldn't be surprised if they went that direction -- Creating totally original powers, suits and team names. Granted the comics are also heavily MMPR-reliant so that'd be the main drawback I'd say. But if they utilize what seasons they already did it could be fine. Imagine Shattered Grid adapted into a multi-episode season arc. That said, ending the partnership could mean something like that they could lose the right to depict Toei-created suits, monsters, etc.in future projects. Who knows. Gotta wait for confirmation. |
The article in question is incredibly vague on what their sources actually say -- there's no direct quotes, only their own extrapolation. "From what we've been told, I think this and that will happen", etc.
Don't think it's worth taking much from until we get more confirmation. Even though they contradict it in the article, I really think this is a similar thing to the Nick deal; contract's due to end but they're probably just going to edit or make a new one. |
It's not impossible for Power Rangers to do stuff without Super Sentai. Robotech and Voltron both did original content without stuff from Macross and GoLion. Those two are similar to Power Rangers on how they were adapted for an western auddience.

This isn't worth much until there's actual confirmations. Just vague sources that guess at things.

Curious to learn more.

Chances of it being true are low, but I really, really hope it isn't.
|
I don't remember where I saw it, but the article is misleading. From what people are saying is that Hasbro is parting ways with Toei's animation department.
