ToQger Episode 21 "Runaway Bride!" Discussion
Here comes the bride! It's finally time for the Shadow Line wedding between Grita and Zed! Body Swap! Right and Tokkati trade places! But so do Mio and Grita! Can Grita use this opportunity to her advantage? The Toqger's come up with an imaginative solution on how to fight with swapped bodies. How will the wedding go? As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams are at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Weirdly, I enjoyed ToQger more this week than I did Gaim. It was a great episode, with some good character interactions with Kagura and Mio, as well as a nice twist on the "switching bodies" formula. It definitely changed up the villains usual everyday scenes and when Noire was going up against Nero, I finally felt like these characters could be interesting if given more time.
Grita's switch with Mio was also great, I did like how it seemed like Mio ended up sympathizing with her. And next episode is going to be intense. |
I really enjoyed this weeks episode. The infighting on the side of the Shadow Line is getting more and more intense and I cant wait to find out what Noire is trying to achive with the wedding. Seeing Schwarz still reporting Zed what Grita had done showed that his loyalty to the emperor far exceeds his own desires... that depends though if he actually had some affections for Grita :lol
The Body switch trope was well executed and I liked that they added the twist of them dying when they keep in the wrong body for too long. One of my favorite parts of the episode was the talk Mio and Kagura had near the end. In those shows you rarely see two characters actually talking about the things thats bothering them. I always apreciate those scenes every time they come up. |
This was a good set up for next week and it was funny seeing the actors in each others outfits and Grita and Mio's switch was neat as well.
Was I the only one who thought the shadow line actually invited the ToQgers to the wedding? I'm I wouldn't put it pass the emperor to do so. |
I liked how they handled the body swapping troupe. The drawings on their foreheads was a nice touch, although I am confused why Akira kept his construction helmet on. I also like that Tokatti is still calling Akira out on the "fight until my death" thing.
There was no ending theme and I think that is because the length of the episode went a little beyond what they normally do. Why do you think Mio was worried about telling Kagura that she remembers them running in the dark towards a tree? |

This episode highlighted what a fun cast the ToQgers are but didn't do much else. So not much to really say. Voted 'okay'.
