This is such an unexpectedly cruel exit for Gaisorg. It's also lazy, lazy writing. Why go through all the trouble introducing Nada, having him be a major focus for 8 episodes, redeeming him and joining the team only to kill him in the very next episode? And to do it in such a tropey manner too.
The actual direction of the episode was good. The death scene was surprisingly quite subtle. The music was more atmospheric and I loved that they dulled the sound to make it more tranquil despite the violence on display. But it would have been much more impactful had they been patient and had Nada actually do something as a team member. Right now it feels like they just wanted to write him out as soon as possible. And Max Ryusoul Red looks amazing but the debut is cheapened by two fairly large points. Firstly, Koh got HieHie Soul two episodes ago. Secondly, it feels as if Nada's whole character arc - his life and death, so to speak - was all for the purpose of giving red an upgrade form, which is gross. Kind of diminishes the value of his arc and also spits in the face of the point of his character - that being the chosen one doesn't matter. Anyone can be a Ryusoulger if they put the effort. But he died to literally become a power up for red, the chosen one. So yeah, fuck this. |
I was afraid of this when I saw that red's new upgrade was pretty much just a repainted Gaisorg suit. That and the fact he has no mech, although that could be worked around. I agree that it's dumb. I would rather have seen the character stick around a while.

Wow, way to completely go downhill after a really high point Ryusoulger. Seriously having a regular 7 member Sentai would've been very interesting (or at least Dekaranger & Kyoryuger situation where the extra hero pops out from time to time). But nooope, just kill the newest member who worked hard to be a Ryusoulger.

To be honest, upon second viewing, I think the death scene is very well done. It's just that it should have happened a few episodes after Nada turned good. I think it's a good bookend for his character but it really needed time to grow to that point. Even Max RyuSoul Red's debut would have benefited from that. It hurts because Uden's introduction could have been two or three parts and they condensed it into a rushed travesty. |
Wasn't it cliche trope and stereotypical with the huge tease last week . dead flag trailer too. Honestly, just killed evil nada and convert gaizorg armor for kou. Or just let kou keep the new converted armor while nada leaves as he travel maybe ocassionally back up support via finding new souls or secrets. I guess master red should come back to spice things up. Nada wasn't a well written character and the quick twist/forgiveness was quick. I wouldn't mind master red as the one trapped in the armor especially with 4 part saikyo battle ending tease,

So I guess this is the trope "Redemption Equals Death" huh? Nadas death didn't really made an impact for me. I just didn't get the emotional value they were trying for.
And Udons death was too quick too. I would have liked if he was a threat for a few more episodes. And now they're hyping up this new general. He better live up to that hype. Red's power up, I liked it. It looks really good in motion. Solid power up I think. Not much Kreon this episode. I liked that opening segment with him. |

And judging by the scan it seems like Canalo will be the main user of the armor anyway so it's pretty pointless to have Koh obtaining it in the first place. |
Dang that went far too quick for Nada, was too rushed, especially after being saved.Would of liked him to stay around.
Still the death scene was very good and that video message 😭. Max Ryusoul looks pretty cool though. |
I loved the first half of this episode. A genuinely hilarious opening act and Nada transforming was so wholesome.
... Why did they have to murder him though? I really don’t get it. If they wanted the character gone then let him leave on that training mission of his. Why was it necessary that this particular guy bites the dust so the Red can get his power-up? I'm baffled by how quickly this episode turned from "Hell yeah!" to "Why though?". RIP Nada, you were my favorite. But you had to die so that Canalo can get a dozen more episodes of chasing a potential wife only to find out it won’t work out in the end. We really do need more of those, they are so original and funny every single time. |
Y'all are wild. :lol
This episode was great. It was shocking, emotional, well-acted, exciting... and you can really tell the chief director of this series is the same guy behind the Build ep where the Three Crows were killed. Was Nada's death sudden? Was it upsetting? Yes and yes. But that was like, literally the whole point. |

What I like about this episode: Gaiosrg and Max Ryusoul Red transformations. So AWESOME! Esepcially the parts where translucent armor pieces slowly shifted upwards before putting themselves on the wearer. I rewatched watched it like a thousand times.
What I didn't like about this episode: Nada's death. I have nothing against tragic death scenes, but this wasn't tragic. It felt like a joke. The fact that it became Ryusoul Red's upgrade is just insulting to Nada's memory. What happened to the whole "we look out for each other and fight together" shtick? No, Nada's whole 'redemption' arc was really just a 'Max Ryusoul Red prologue' arc. Not cool. SO NOT COOL. To put the depraved cherry on top of this toy shill sundae, HieHie Soul's debut hasn;t even been a month ago. It was TWO. FREAKING. WEEKS AGO. At least wait for another week or month! What killed Nada was not the Druidons, but the toy industry. |

In a show like Super Sentai, people are always getting trapped in evil, dangerous pocket dimensions, and they always get free somehow. Nada sacrificing himself so quickly, for stakes we’ve seen beaten like hundreds of times before — multiple times in this very series — did feel a little insane. They needed to build up the new Druidon’s danger levels, and have the team literally on the verge of dying after a prolonged hardcore battle, in order for a sacrifice like that to feel earned. So on that level, it’s definitely flawed. But... I still liked it. I like how Nada dying actually made the power up feel like it meant something. I liked that they swung for the fences. It was a bold choice, in a show that makes a lot of bold choices... that maybe don’t always feel earned. |
So Nada is dead?

are they doing this on purpose? All dino sentai since Zyu have at least have 1 ranger kicking the bucket...
I hope Nada's character was popular enough to get him resurrected... They could...I don't know...have Nada just lend Kou the Gaisorg armor when he needs to go MAX...and he uses the armor when not...but nooo, lets kill another dino sentai ranger.. |

Nada's death is a pretty explicit shout out to Zyuranger, specifically. The shot compositions from the scene where Nada gives Koh his Gaisoulg armor mirror almost exactly the shots from the scene where a dying Burai gives his shield and dagger to Geki. I thought it was a cool homage. Apparently, YMMV. :lol Quote:

Kinda pissed off about it actually. The overall fact he died is not really my issue, it was how it was done, it felt like we just wasted months getting to know a character for no other reason then KOU NEEDS ANOTHER SUIT ! |
This makes me glad I dropped the show after episode 9. Don't feel like getting pissed off by another show so soon.

Well I was looking forward to Nada fighting with the team. :(
I thought they were trying to save Super Sentai not help destroy it. Do they actually believe having little children crying every other episode is going to do the trick? Nada's whole story arc was wasted. And for what? Yet another power up for Koh. This Red has gotten more power ups then the last 5 Reds combined. |
The worst part, they are not even his powerups for the most part, most of them are supposed to be used by other members in the team, but Kou gets first use of them no matter the situation.

This was a stellar episode taken at face value. The direction was absolutely flawless (of course), the performances were great, the story is tense, and it has so much faith in itself there wasn't a mecha fight, but it really didn't come together for me too well.
Everybody seems to have their own reason why Nada dying sucks, but my biggest gripe is that the show specifically shows Koh about to use his magic healing ability to fix Nada, only for him to insist there's no time, and that Koh needs to go defeat the bad guy... right before he keeps on talking for a full minute. It launched me right out of being invested, and the emotional impact the episode was going for simply didn't land. It honestly would've been easier to suspend my disbelief if they simply ignored the Kagayaki Soul's existence entirely, but the real solution here only needed to be as simple as coming up with some throwaway line of dialogue to explain why that wouldn't work, like they already have before, when Asuna was in trouble a few episodes back. Anyway, I do have to have thank this episode for providing a definitive endpoint to what I'll go ahead and call the Gaisorg Saga. I told myself I was going to wait until the end of it to comment, naively assuming it would be a trilogy at the most, but it turned out to be a sprawling, two-month, epic event debuting several pieces of merch, featuring the talents of Sakomoto's direction for three episodes and Kamihoriuchi's for two, back to back. Overall I think it was a super strong batch of episodes. To the point where I can't even be too upset that the buildup Gaisorg got throughout the show was rather poor. Nada himself turned out to be an extremely fun character, even if I can't understand a word out of his mouth. :p |

As for the healing part... maybe they wanted us to realize for ourselves that the healing soul wouldn’t have done anything, just like it didn’t do anything on Asuna, and Koh was just being the naively hopeful puppy dog he always is. Maybe Nada knew it wouldn’t work too and wanted to spare Koh the disappointment. Maybe? That’s how I read it, at least. Whatever the case, Nada’s video message at the end redeemed the questionable emotional impact of the actual death scene. That was really well done. |
I was a bit disappointed mainly because I couldn't see the benefit of killing off Nada. I suppose it did add a bit of impact and maybe they ran out of things to do with his character.

Playing Sentai catchup. My sentiments echo pretty much the same. Great direction, and an epic moment of sacrifice, cheapened by the lure of a new shiny suit that will have zero effect in 10 episodes.
What is more tragic is the build up for Gaisorg over what, 9 episodes, a full Movie Wars, and etc? I'm gonna keep watching and see if this improves the 'character resolve' of everyone. http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1578330539 |
