Let's Watch Wednesdays Week 6 Gekiranger 16-18
Mele has revived the Kenma of the Sea Rageku. What harsh lessons will she bestow on Mele and Rio? And Jan is about to find his own Kensei and a new Gekibeast. Join the discussion here!

What exactly is Shakkin? It's vague like Jan's random words, but unlike zowazowa or wakiwaki, I can't pinpoint what exactly Shakkin is or how there is training in it.
Livelihood? "Wax on, wax off!" Playing? "Just a Spoonful of Sugar!" Trance? Mastery by engrossment in an activity. Shakkin? The closest I can get is "training in blind passion" but that's probably not what Shakkin even is. Or maybe Shakkin is Shaped Like Itself. |

Yes, I'm aware Master Mao has a real name, but he's dead for most of the season. Yes, I know Master Finn's name is referring to shark fins. I don't care. It sounds better than Phant, Swoop, Rilla, Guin, and Lope. And more like a name a human would have. Oh wait, that's right. There IS a human named Finn! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...nntheHuman.jpg |

Anyway, Mele also had stuff to do, too! I liked that Rageku isn't just ignoring Mele like Kata was, and sees the potential in her. It's a nice bit of character for her and continuing her growth from when she took out Braco. Quote:

Another good arc of episodes. Here are my thoughts, SHAKKIN!
Enter Rageku, the Kenma of the Sea. And quickly we see she's no better than Kata, by poisoning Rio and forcing Mele to fight Shafu. We learn that she is the master of jealousy, by forcing to make Rio helplessly watch Mele beating Shafu in a fight. Though as with Kata, he manages to overcome her technique and manages to beat her in their little showdown. Also like Kata, she has an underling that serves her with Dokariya, who proves to be a formidable opponent with his ability to posses bodies. On the Gekiranger side, we meet the 4th Kensei, Sharkie Chan. He's a rather nice guy who isn't afraid to cry and specializes on the body part of the triangle. I rather liked that his training with Jan was accomplished rather quickly with the hijinks on the rive. As with Retsu, I like the Geki Saber than Jan aquired, but it feels like a natural extension of his fighting style with the Geki Nunchackus. I was annoyed that Bat Li and Elehan were hard on Sharkie getting posessed, but Jan resisting Dokariya's possesion proved that the body element of the triangle shouldn't be looked down upon. And GekiSharkTouja is cool, but sharks always make things cool. Now that the new character talking is done, I'll touch a few key moments. We learn about the GekiRin Rebelion, which caused the schism between the 3 Kenma and the 7 Kensei. We get an awesome character moment out of Mele as she uses Mugen Reppa on herself in order to fight Shafu. Once again she demonstrates she'll do anything for Rio's sake, even if that makes putting her life on the line. And then we have the touching moment of Rio stopping Mele from delivering the final blow. He might have been jealous that Mele was about to beat Shafu, but he didn't have to pull her into the cooldown hug as well to stop her. Finally, the human pyramid GekiSharkTouja was amusing. And oh man at that next episode preview. I know what that means. It's going to be REEEEEEEEEEEEALLY hard not to watch next week's batch of episodes before Wednesday. This is when GekiRanger really starts to shine. |
