Go-Busters Mission 1 discussion "Special Ops Cell, Assemble!"
Alright folks, in this thread you may discuss the very first episode of the 36th super sentai, Tokumei Sentai Gobuster!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBvJKcsQULc The opening is already on youtube, so enjoy until the very first subs come out! |
The opening was fantastic to watch! Even if I have no clue whats happening in it I still like it.
|
agreed, what little we can see in the opening I like, things are looking up for Gobuster!
|
I really like the way all the weapons materialize like that
|
Just finished watching the raw for it.
First thing that stood out that this did not feel like a conventional Sentai show at all. Had something different about it, but I can't seem to place it. No roll-call or big and flashy debut transformation which was weird. I think they might save that for Mission 2 though; I heard a lot of narrative dialog in this episode which I assume was just explaining the concept of everything. The mecha fight stole the show for me. I've watched bits and pieces of a whole lot of Sentai shows, and this is by far THE best mecha fight I've ever seen. I really hope it continues. |

We just finished the first episode and it was actually not that bad. I liked it and hope that the show can keep up with the new surprises like this did.
Postives: -Except for the sunglasses on the helmets, I actually like their costumes in action. The webgear is a pretty cool feature as well. -The villian having a human form was unexpected and nice to see. Although, he looks like something out of either Jet Grind Radio or MegaMan Battle Network. -I liked the way he uploaded a virus into a random object (in this case, a bulldozer), and it became a monster. -The clock on the bottom of the screen when the villians sent out their mecha, as it meant the 3 minutes was not going to be a Dragonball styled 3 minutes. -The weapons being show as teleporting to the rangers from the base instead of just randomly doing so. -Except for the cheetah head that appeared in the front of the car, Red's mecha is pretty cool and the fact that it has its own robot mode makes me think of RyuuSeiOu from DaiRanger. -The spy-like theme that was going on in this episode. I hope we get more stuff like that. Negatives: -The Buddy Roids, I do not like them, as they seemed very annoying, especially the gorilla. -The brief backstory on the rangers, but since this is the first episode, they usually do need to sell the show right away. Hopefully we know more about this within the next few episodes when they get the toy show room out of the way. -The giant mecha for the villians. While it is not terrible, as it was a nice to see something different, I hope this does not become a standard where all we get is a giant mech with a resemblance to the monster of the week. This is one of the points where I felt Bioman failed at, as it just got boring seeing the same giant robots being beaten by the rangers' mech. -The dancing in the ending song. No words can describe its horror with justice. Overall though, like I said, I was quite impressed and hope Toei keeps it going upward from here on, as I am looking forward to the next episode (and Nihon's release of the first episode). Oh, and what is up with all of the Power Rangers homages? The "It's Morphing Time" transformation scene, the villian's mecha being called Megazord Beta, and the beeping sound from the original ranger's communiators. Next we'll get one of the Buddyroids shouting, "Aye yai yai yai yai." |
So far so good for me. I only watched the RAW version and I really like the giant robot effects. The effects over all are much better. Looking forward to the translated version.
