Let's Shine! The Mashin Sentai Kiramager Toy Thread
This thread are dedicated for Kiramager toys.
Here is first of two Kiramager toy videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgcYcsTxv9E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvPe2doAgjE |
Seeing the toy in action makes me almost want it. Haha. But I think I'll still stick with the minipla instead because of space constraints.

The Minipla of King Express is up for pre-order at amiami https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?gcode=GOODS-00372210

Looks like the new mecha is a new core body, or at least a new upper-chest. I can clearly see an arm ending in a drill and another very similar to the existing crane arm. I think maybe the entire thing would end up looking suspiciously like Land Mage in orange with more drills.

Mashin Zabyuun has been revealed. And no, you will not have to get a second Express to get this.

The Go Kiramai Arrow is out this week. And regardless of my opinions on the Go Kiramager Power up (and my worries for its debut episode), I still prefer the Max Claw and the Ryusoul Calibur.

Genuinely curious to those that have bought the toys, what is your verdict so far?
|
I wonder how they are gonna pull off Grateful Phoenix in the Mini-pla line. Seems too big to fit in all the small boxes.

So am I right in thinking the mecha don't really combine in any meaningful way?

Really disappointing there wont be a big combine form when they all turn into bricks which should make it easy to do.
|
That's a real bummer. I was going to wait and see what the big dumb combined form was before ordering. Guess I saved some money.

If it’s any consolation, the kids and collectors in Japan agree with you. Even accounting for the fact the target mark has been lowered, Kiramager has low sales and is unlikely to be considered a success unless they can somehow make 1.5 million yen in the next three months (considering they average 1.3 million per quarter, it’s unlikely)

Kiramager is gonna sit right next to ToQger for me as a show that I loved but was considered a failure by Toei. |

The final sales are in for Kiramager.
They needed to make 6.5 billion yen to be considered a hit. Then made 1.6 in the first month, 1.3 in the next three, 1.1 in the next three and 6000000 in the past three months of the year, totalling 4.6 billion. It’s safe to say, this show was not a success. A number of reasons can be ascertained for this, but I’ll simply say “Don’t expect another power up like Go Kiramager again.” |

I... feel like a power-up item not performing well - compared to the initial sales and the main bread-and-butter of mechas not performing well - would be the least of the issues... Either way, sad to see. That's the worst Sentai has performed in decades, right? |

Among other things, I think people really wanted an all-combined mode for all the robots. There was also no collectible item this year. It seems like a Zenkaiger is going to rectify both of those aspects. |
Of course there is no mecha combos you know that.

Anyways, that's disappointing to hear. I rather enjoyed the mech and suit designs. |
This... Mimi Cheri Yodonna figurine. Haven't been a Sentai dude in a while, but this looked particularly interesting. Especially with the ball-jointed head.

So wait why is this thread still pinned? Shouldn't there be a pinned Zenkaiger toy thread now?
|
Don't know where else to put this but since its a topic that was actively being discussed in this thread I'll drop it here.
A recent post from a popular Japanese toy blog takes a look at and discusses the "declining sales of Super Sentai" Get your Google translate ready: https://prehyou2015.hatenablog.com/entry/supersentai Specifically, 2018 saw a huge stark drop-off in Super Sentai sales. A number of factors that are looked at: - Super Hero Time timeslot change - Hasbro's acquisition of Power Rangers - Hobby Toys vs Domestic Toys - YouTube videos as a substitute for ownership |
