Ultraman R/B Rumours And Discussion Thread
7 Attachment(s)
The new Ultraman series has finally been revealed as Ultraman R/B. Here's everything that's been revealed so far for the next series:
There'll be two main Ultramen: Ultraman Rosso and Ultraman Bull, their powers are derived from elemental properties: aqua, flame, ground and wind. They transform using the DX Rube Gyro and the villain is going to be Ultraman Orb Dark. Transformation Crystals will be the collectible gimmick and the show will air July 7th |
Nyeeeeeeh I'm not happy about using past Ultras as collectables again, I get that they want a large toyline but I'd rather they reuse X's gimmick in that case with the monsters as armour and stuff
EDIT: THERE ARE PICS OF HIM TRANSFORMING. THE TOY IS A FUCKING BOP IT |
Internal squealing
So much hype!! |
Ultraman Orb Dark huh :O I like that! Previous protag's evil counterpart (I'm assuming he is by the name) coming back as a villian!
|
I am gonna assume Rosso is the hot-headed older brother while Blu is the more calm and patient one of the two.
In case you missed it Rosso uses the Taro R/B crystal which has fire attributes while Blu uses the Ginga crystal which has water attributes. The Tiga crystal has wind attributes and Victory crystal has ground/earth attributes. Given his color and my current assumption on Blu's personality traits I was expecting Cosmos but then again Ginga seems like a nice fit too. |
Rosso and Blu look REALLY cool.
Orb being the bad guy is interesting and weird. |

Really digging those designs!

Seriously though I think it would be a nice motivation for the two brothers to rescue their senior figure they look up to, etc. later having them team up with the actual Orb to take down the big bad guy of the show. |
Wasn't sure I was gonna watch Ultra this year but Orb's involvement has me suitably interested. So why not I guess.

A few more leaks have come out but what I find most amusing is that the logo is pretty much literally Ultraman Orb. Clever.

Am I the only one that gets a slight Tiger and Bunny vibe off these two? :lol

Say hello to our lead actors Yuya Hirata/Ultraman Rosso portrayed by Katsumi Minato and Ryosuke Koike/Ultraman Blu portrayed by Isami Minato. This will be the first Ultraman series where both lead Ultras are brothers.
There's also a teaser for the new show here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mfu5q0qb2xE https://en.tsuburaya-prod.co.jp/news/397 |

Other than that, I know I said it before and will say it again but every time I see the gyro I think Matrix Of Leadership. :lolol |

Still trying to figure how red will later fuse to blue for added Red bird wings and red bull horns. Probably some near end thing or special or movie thing. With them briefly infected by whatever turned Orb bad. Or that could be reversed where Rosso "drinks" blue's ultra energy from a pegasus state, that makes Rosso become a winged bull. One or the other somehow. You know it's going to happen. |
Ayyy, Ultraman got a sticky thread. Cool. I don't think that's ever happened before.
|
Since there is no announcement for DX Kaiju Series, I'm a bit afraid Bandai cancels this series completely :/

.......... I just realized that with Orb representing 'O', the three ultras effectively represents ORB. Lul.

Tokusatsu Network wrote about the main cast. So Lucky's dad will be a dad to two ultras this time. |

The transformation is likely shortened for this PV.
Gosh, I really hope it doesn't take up 2 minutes (1 for each Ultra)..... |
For those still not informed Katsumi/Rosso is the big bro who helps out at their dad's fashion boutique, baby bro Isami/Blu is a college kid. Gosh their transformation clip is begging for a Rodimus Prime reference meme. :lolol

Looks fun!

Then it kind of dawned on me anyway. Speedbreaker was a cool blue hot rod anyway. xD Kind of really digging it. The transformers jokes make it all the more fun. Now it still needs a "Sponsored by Red Bull" commercial though! Fits too since they take on monster(s) all the time too! xD |
Pretty bad trailer, nothing really exciting to see here. Just more toy-advertising. And I'm getting quite sick of the "power of past Ultraman as transformation trinkets"-trope, make something new already.

So.....If I wanted to get into Ultra man this wouldn't be the show.
Sounds like Orb would be a better choice, is that right or is there a better season ? |

Personally, I'd recommend Nexus and the Movie Ultraman Next to get a basic understanding of the concept. But those are non-ultra universe tied. When you're ready to dive into ultra family stuff, then it gets tougher. Orb, Geed, R/B, really even Zero and X are all heavy Ultra Universe stuff with some practical basic knowledge of ultraman kind of needed. Though Zero does try to fill in the concept a lot to prep you for how history rich it is. While many try to educate the viewers, they kind of all spill over from each other really since about Mebius/Max and the ultra brothers movie. Earlier series were more self-contained. Ultra7X isn't bad either and has a more adult flair to it. Mebius or Max might be a good one to start. Many get started on Tiga/Dyna/Cosmo though. I'm from the era that the Australian one was my first real exposure(when they marketed the Ultraman toys to americans too and made the american comic), but TNT also had UltraSeven reruns really early in the morning too. Really kind of depends on what designs speak to you on which you want to jump into. Everything after Nexus is kind of heavily connected after about Mebius/Max. Everything before was a little more independent from each other but had some crossovers. Except for Nexus which was more isolated as a new universe thing, but is really trippy and fun but probably a little too heavy psychologically for kids. The anime version and Hanna Barbera version do a lot of exposition too to kind of fill in on the concepts. One thing about shows like Zero/X/Orb/Geed/RB, and Similar is that because they are so history focused, they do a lot of exposition to fill in the history for new viewers too. So really any of those may be good to jump into. They have to keep themselves open enough for new viewers of the franchise but also stay continuing the franchise for longtime followers. |
