Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episode 2- "Evox's Revenge!" Discussion
When Grid Battleforce's Commander needs to select a leader for the team, the Power Rangers are at odds over who should get the job.
|
Watching it now, I laughed when Blaze just screamed “TRONICS!!” Also, who else thinks we’re going to wind up hearing more from this villain Scrozzle is hiding from?
|
Decent episode, but honestly the crap about their weaknesses nearly ruined it for me and my son when we watched it. Is there nobody who researches things for the show?
|
Well, the robots are better than Redbot at least. Jax being a Brooklyn Bunny is great.

also: evil snake virus trying to take over the world via computers. this isn't exactly a plausible series (someone mentioned a villain that scrozzle is hiding from and im just going to guess that its gonna be enter because there is no way enter isn't showing up) |

I enjoyed the episode!! I really think that it's going in the right direction! The characters all seem really good and the great acting from episode one seems to have carried over.
I personally think that the villain that Scrozzle's hiding from is most likely gonna be using the Enter Untie suit from Go-Busters. It would make sense later throughout the show when they start using later sentai footage. The Beast Bots still need to grow on me since I didn't really notice them too much, however, they're not irritating or grating on me, so that's good!! Overall I really liked this episode! The only thing that I'd ask is that they explain why his Devon's helmet changes with the Cheetah Blaster. If they did, I probably didn't notice it, but I'm pretty sure they didn't... |
scrozzle matching up perfectly with the designs for go-onger monsters is creeping me out not gonna lie
|
They may have simplified the Go-Busters weaknesses, but it is a kids' show! They simplify everything!
"Vargoyle" could, in my mind, be Neo-Grifforzer from Kyoryuger VS. Go-Busters! They used Neo-Geilton for Snide already, and where Sentai made comparisons to Abaranger and Zyuranger, Dino Supercharge made no such connections to Zeltrax. I wasn't happy with them adapting Go-Busters Ep. 5 this early, but I get what they were going for. |

also anyone else wondering how they're going to deal with the messiah card arc? that might be difficult to work around in stock footage |
If it were me, I would have kept the weaknesses, but tweaks them slightly as conflicts between the human and animal traits. Yellow would just burn through too much energy as a human body wasn't meant for jumping on that scale.
Blue generated heat and went beserk similar because the gorilla muscle and insticts weren't quite compatible with a human frame. I would change red so instead of freezing for fear, he would freeze from sensory overload (which is a real thing) as a result of the cheetah senses overwhelming a human brain. But I have a feeling some kids will like the sillier stuff anyway, so it's hardly a dealbreaker for me. |
The opening for this season is....30 seconds long.....
I am pissy about this..... -_- |
Episode was good, but I found the weakness thing silly.

Bonus points if Hasbro gets Kerrigan Mahan back. |

I think if Vargoyle does show up, he’s more likely to be a new suit than someone like Azazel or Neo-Grifforzor, since the episode mentioned that he was a robot. He could be Enter, but they’d have to explain the Evox symbol on his chest.
EDIT: ninjaed. |
Pretty good episode. Will have to get used to “Bugs2D2”. Now I want my own Smash.

Honestly, the carrots thing is probably the writers trying to fit in a "Kids, eat your vegetables." message rather than have the actress eat something sugary all the time.
|
im kind of upset over them not calling the megazords NEGAZORDS and going with just a kind of generic name for them. fun they're keeping the greek letter classifications tho
|
They kept the weaknesses. Bad start.

like you know they can't just magic away every issue you had with go-busters right |
I liked this episode quite a bit. The dynamic between the Rangers was well developed and the way Devon becomes the leader felt super natural. He takes control of a bad situation and keeps his team on task, actually acting like a leader, instead of just making patronizing speeches or being generically "determined". I'll (hopefully) end up repeating this a lot, but Beast Morphers' writing really does seem much sharper than the previous few shows. Major props for having the comic relief characters help save the day, too.
|
they set up good dynamics with the villains, scrozzle is fun and definitely feels like he's not super trustworthy. wouldn't be shocked if he betrayed vargoyle, and that's why he's after him. i also appreciate the consistency between monster names, having them not just be generic aliens and all part of the same niche is great
evox's voice is definitely better when he has more lines, the distortion to his voice is at least something unique, especially compared to galvanax |

Or, just shoot new footage. It's been done before to avoid stupid plot points. |

i didn't even realize this was a thing people disliked about go-busters lol, i liked the weaknesses |
I really like it so far.
I like that Devon know what’s he doing while Ravi and Zoey are having argument of who should be the leader and that’s why Devon was made as leader instead because of that. I think Ravi and Zoey are just full of themselves. I wonder if this show is connected to RPM since Scrozzle look like if he’s from RPM show? Hmmmmmmmmm 🤔 |
Do they really need to forced the gobuster weaknesses in as well? We already have usual comedy duo. Yay, another cockpit weapon. I didnt know how tall evil avatar yellow and the male sec guy is given the usual audition head shot from last years made them look like very young kids,
|
It's good that this show is a lot better than previous shows but there are some points that I don't like. First of all, I don't like that they only treat the buddyroids (or beast bots?) only as an assistant to operate the zords. Devon even treats Cruise like a mere bike! I hope the rangers will bond with the beast bots in the future like how well Go-Busters bonded with the buddyroids.
Second, I don't like those robot voices, it's hard for me to understand what they're saying. Third, the explanation for the rangers weakness was weird. And the rangers can only trigger their power when they're morphed? This episode's fight was kinda messy and too fast paced. I know that they just wanted to show that the rangers have weaknesses but still! Fourth, it seems the metaroid and enemy's megazord (I don't know what they call it here) only used as a distraction so that Blaze can gather morph-x. If only they can use them better like how Enter use them as a tool to gather enetron. There are some points that I like too, like how the avatars have glitchy effects. It's easier to differentiate between avatars and robots because maybe there will be an avatar that have non-human form. I like that the morphers didn't always stick to theirs wrist since they didn't really use the spy aspect anyway. Although they did use the weapon's binocular. And they didn't talk while fighting ! That's a good thing. There's one thing that always bug me about power rangers. Why didn't they make the weapons and morphers talk? I don't like that the rangers have to shout whenever they attack and even when transporting the weapons. |
Guys I figured out how to tell the cockpit footage apart easily. They did a very good job recreating the cockpit footage just so they can use the cockpit helmet/weapon. But there are three key differences.
All the button boards by the rangers aren't lit or as complex, there is no switch board next to the left side status screen. And finally the most easy way to tell is that the black hexagon behind the rangers are Smaller than the Sentai counterpart. |
The cockpit weapon is kinda pointless. Also the only Beast Bot I'm liking so far is Jax because of his personality. Sorry Kelson Henderson.
And I really loved how natural this episode felt. Ravi and Zoey bicker with each other while Devon doesn't really care about being a leader, to be the guy who's actually able to take commands. Also love how the weakpoints actually tie into the animals, as silly as it sounds, since in Go-Busters the weaknesses are tied to computer performances (lag/freeze, overheat, low battery). |
The voice actor for the rabbit sounds like he is trying to imitate Danny DeVito.
|
It was alright. I'm just waiting for the set up to get out of the way so we can get into the real meat of the show.
