It was a tragic turn of events, but it's not like he straight up murdered the guy in cold blood. Most people take "I'm arming myself with a fucking Conan sword" as a clear indication of "please stay away good sir I feel threatened." His roommate was evidently not one of those people. Currently he's serving six years after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter, which I think is fair since he did willingly arm himself with a deadly weapon even if the intent was not to kill. According to Wikipedia he was sentenced in 2017, so he should be out in 2023. Does he deserve punishment for killing someone? Of course, and he's receiving it. Does he deserve the benefit of context? I think so. He wasn't high, or had a history of (real life) violence or anything. Just a bad altercation ending in a bad way. |
The title of this post exemplifies why tokunation should start removing posts and eventually user accounts that cannot form a proper sentence. It is nearly impossible to hold a conversation if someone cannot speak coherently.
He killed a dude; hes in american prison; he will either be released on parole when they feel like it or he will remain in there until its not profitable |

Okay so it's not really complicated. His sentence is 6 years. When he's served them he's out. I don't know if parole factors into this as he took a plea deal.
I strongly doubt Hasbro(or who ever owns this stuff by then) will want to have him back on the show. He's not Matthew Broderick who was an in demand actor who served no prison time. Press wise it came off looking like an accident........and then he want on to do movies like Glory. Then remember this was before the internet really took off. But original question, his sentence was three years and he's on his way to serving half of it. |

Perception of it being accidental or not, this is Disney we're talking about. The fact they were willing to work with Broaderick is astounding. If it had been similar to what happened with Medina then yeah they probably would have black listed him. Disney does not like to get their hands dirty. Hasbro is not Disney so they might be willing to work with Medina. |
Just to piggy back, a lot of articles when first reporting used images of MMPR, and only a paragraph or two into them did they refer to him as being in "Wild Force" specifically.
Some articles have since revised themselves to use Wild Force images and point out he was in Wild Force and Samurai early on, but when the scandal first unwrapped, which was the peak for it all, they only used the vague "Red Ranger" as a descriptor. |

One could say that most wouldn't know one season from another, and those who said anything were just being pragmatic for the sake of their audience. However, I think that's too short-sighted! If you report on a particular brand or franchise, one should include specifics. Something that comes to mind is the release of Transformers Headmasters by SHOUT! and reading an article on CNN when that news was fresh and interesting for the franchise! Headmasters got more love than Wild Force! |
