The Official Toku Subs List
I've been thinking it would be nice to compile a list of all Tokusatsu that has gotten an official subtitled release (hard copy or streaming), regardless of series. We've actually gotten enough that at this point it is getting hard to track. I put it in a Google Doc and would be willing to give editing privileges to other members here who are interested! If you know anything that needs to be added just comment below and someone will add it.
Official Subtitles List |
You might be able to guess that I'm going to say there should be some sort of indication of things that are only available in certain countries, even with the TokuSHOUTsu Youtube channel now existing!
I think it should also include non-Japanese shows because the whole of the Chinese toku shows Armor Hero+Armor Hero XT(dubbed) and Giant Saver(subbed) are available to stream on YouTube! |
I already put Legend Heroes on it, which is a Korean Toku, so I’m in agreement there! I’m flexible about what can go on the list, being a helpful resource is more important than any pedantic details in my book.
Do you know what countries the TokuSHOUTsu shows are available in? Is it only the US? |
You're missing the Garo subs from Kraken Releasing and all of the stuff that Toei put up on their YouTube channel.
|
We have a few threads for these, but I feel like they never get updated. Maybe it's time for a revamp? Personally, I don't really feel the need to have three separate topics for it...maybe this could be the new one or something.
|
Yeah, part of the appeal of the Google Doc over just a post on the forum is that multiple people can potentially edit it, so if one person gets busy someone else can still potentially update it. Life happens!
I added some Ultraman stuff I remembered and will sift through the Toei channel, but that will take a while. Since a lot of that stuff is not a complete series yet, I might just make a note at the end about it until shows are complete. The names alone of some of the toku on that channel are so wild to just read half the time. I really want to give some of it a try later.:D There's way more to add, I'm sure, but this isn't a bad start I think. |
The TokuSHOUTsu YouTube channel is apparently available everywhere (perhaps except Japan) which is good, actual Shout Factory in general is still pretty US-exclusive though I'm pretty sure and there is only like a couple of first episodes on that TokuSHOUTsu channel anyway. :(
|
Okay, I made nice little playlists of all the Toei Tokusatsu World stuff, since the actual channel is a mess, and made a link to it. I also remembered Discotek Media did some stuff and added that too.

Hey guys I'm in a bit of a weird situation Toei wise and here's where things stand presently.
DVD Sets owned Zyu (Beast) Ranger - Hurri All are owned thanks to Shout Factory and very soon I'll own Jet Man on DVD. Here's the weird part. I'll need to stream 1975 up to Jet Man and after Hurricane Ranger. In early 2022 I'll have finished up to Hurri so this is where I might have a problem. Bear in mind we may not fully be cleared of COVID 19 by then. I'm interested in resuming shows after the Shout Factory releases. |
I'm not sure I understand the weird part?

I'm interested in the Jetix era forward starting with the series adapted as Power Rangers Dino Thunder and ending with the one adapted as Operation Overdrive. I saw the 4 after it.
Here's what happened. Shout Factory released Jet Man to Hurricane Ranger which I can see on DVD. I only need to order Jet Man. I also need to see the pirate series forward. I plan to resume from that point after COVID 19. (2022 at the earliest.) |

It's not subs, per-se, but I've just found out that Kamen Rider SPIRITS is, after long last, fully translted into English! This doesn't include the Shin-SPIRITS, I think, but it's still something I never thought I'd see.

The Showa Godzilla movies and King of the Monsters are all on HBO Max

Added the HBO Max and Crackle stuff. As as aside, I didn't actually see Godzilla 2000 on Crackle, but did see several other films from that time period. Might be some sort of region locking, but I added what I saw.
|
I linked to this list on r/tokusatsu and the mods of the sub want to know if they can link to it in the sidebar, since it's way more up-to-date than their current list. Are you okay with that?

Some additional information can be added to the list:
https://www.watchtoku.com/ultraman-collection https://www.watchtoku.com/mirrorman-1 https://www.watchtoku.com/gridman-1 https://www.hidive.com/search?q=garo TOKU has some Ultraman, Mirrorman (which is the inspiration for Zero's teammate Mirror Knight), and the OG Gridman. HIDIVE has some of the earlier GARO material. |

Hey everyone! I added some of the new stuff Shout Factory TV is streaming, along with the TOKU subs for Agito. As usual, let me know if there are omissions or errors!
|
The list has been updates again, with a few new series Shout Factory is streaming, and a new Blu-Ray from Mill Creek!
|
I'm just going to assume Toei won't remove the Gaim movie from their Youtube channel and add it to the list for now.
|
Apparently Mill Creek Entertainment has a Mothra Blu-ray, which I added to the list. Rad.
|
The Toei Tokusatsu World Youtube channel added Kamen Rider ZO and J with complete subtitles, so onto the list they go!
|
I looked at the list and decided to examine Crackle again, but all I saw there was Destroyah, SpaceGodzilla, and Final Wars! The rest of the titles were apparently "retired" from Crackle. I didn't modify the list and will instead leave that to another after they visually confirm themselves.
Harder than it needs to be to view Heisei Godzilla! |

I've removed/fixed some dead links, and added some more stuff, mostly Ultraman. I also added the *singular* Faiz subs from TOKU.
|
I threw a Rebirth of Mothra Blu-Ray on the list. Adding all the daikaiju stuff is really intimidating since I have to try and figure out what is and is not official, if it is dubbed or subtitled, and there is just so dang much of it! I'll try and add things periodically to flesh that section out.
|
Once I get caught up with Zyu - Kira Mage on DVD I'd like to see 1975 - Jet Man if there are subs for those shows. I'll stil be behind some for 2021's series .
I'm watching Zyu - Kira Mage VIA the following Zyu - Hurri (Shout Factory) Aba - Kira Mage (Mylasian releases with English Subs) Bouken (Brazil Release With English Subs) Go Busters (Brazil Release with English Subs) |
|
I’ve never actually heard about those Malaysian and Brazilian releases before, are they official? I’d love to add them to the list if they are!
I also added ZX, and made sure to add a few alternate titles so people can find it through searching the document easily. I always love it when things get called by like three different names :P |
Guyver Spawn is now an additional editor for the document. Remember, if YOU are an established forum member with a good reputation, and YOU want to fix or add things in the document, then YOU can send me a PM with your email and I will add YOU as an editor.
Yes, YOU, the one reading this post! :D |
I just added some new titles, but I'm not good at editing Google Docs. None of the titles that I added are showing up on the side bar.
