The birth rate influence Tokusatsu ?
Could the birth rate in Japan influence somehow the audience in Tokusatsu ?

I see you aren't aware that the memes about Shinzo Abe trying to get people to fuck by making sexual anime is only a meme. So it probably won't

It shouldn’t. The birth rate is bad, but there are still plenty of children in Japan and, therefore, a subsequent demand for children’s TV shows and toys.

People want to date and have free "love" instead of being tied down with kids. A lot of people cant afford to settle down and be liable for mortgage and kids. It's already stressful society where leisure thrive because of it in otaku form like ways to relieve stress like something simple as nap station. The traditional mindset propaganda like the "american dream" and nationalism doesnt work as well nowadays. Toku needs to cater to adult man child with nostalgia and geeky innovation if they want to stay relevance with so much saturated pop culture media.

I think with Kamen Rider consistently making the Top 10 most sold kid's toys in Japan among other things, Toku's doing just fine without having to cater to manchildren. Also not sure how the American Dream - unless you're just using it as an umbrella term for the mindset rather than literally referring to it - has much to do with Japanese culture but that's just me. Also not sure exactly how that conclusion was reached given the question...
Regardless, it's entirely possible the birth rate factors into it; even if on a subconscious level. But you could say that about anything, and I don't think I'm able to comment without having lived and grown up in Japan. |
