Just stumbled onto this forum and I find it hard to believe that this doesn't have much posts. Okay, I'm gonna give my two cents on this.
I'll expand on Kamen Rider Goro's concept as an alcohol themed rider. Primary Rider: Kamen Rider Fermentor (due to the fact that alcohol are fermented drinks) Collectible device: Shot Bottles (miniature bottles) Henshin Device: Pub Driver - resembles a miniature bar table, complete with serving taps. By slotting a Shot Bottle onto the Driver's 'Shot Slot', the suit is materialised. The serving taps serve as close combat laser guns that can ward off enemies who attempt to remove the Driver by force. By pressing a knob at the side, the "Over Hang" Rider Kick, a kick similar to Kamen Rider Build RabbitTank Sparkling's bubbly kick, can be carried out. Forms: (each form is called a 'shot') -Sake Shot (base form, based on sake cups) -Beer Shot (defence form, based on a beer barrel) -Gin Shot (speed form) -Vodka Shot -Rum Shot Upgrade Form: -Spirit Shot: a form that gives Sake an impressive boost of speed and power. However, the longer this form is used, the more clouded Sake's mind will become, resulting in him becoming 'drunk' with power, hunting on instinct. Final Form: -Cocktail Shot: a form that blends all of the forms' power into one. Kamen Rider Fermentor's Armaments: -Shot Rifle: a rifle that resembles an alcohol bottle. Shoots out cork-shaped bullets, dealing massive damage. The finisher is dubbed the "(form name) shooting" (e.g. "Sake Shooting, Beer Shooting, etc.) -Shot Cleaver: a blade resembling a bottle opener. It resembles a bottle opener, with two pieces of metal attached to an edge. However, the Shot Edge can 'unfold' into a longer blade. -Magnum Glass: A tall wine glass shaped attachment. Attach to the Shot Rifle's barrel to extend range and allow for more powerful attacks. Unlocked with the Spirit Shot Secondary Rider: Kamen Rider Quor (from 'liquor'). Based on canned alcohol. Collectible Device: Shot Cups Henshin Device: Cool Driver - resembles a fridge. By opening the 'door' and inserting a Shot Cup before closing it again, Quor can transform. To initiate the "Over Hang" Rider Kick, the door must be opened and closed again. Forms: -Cider Shot (base form) -Tequila Shot (power form) -Liquor Shot (final form) Kamen Rider Quor's Armaments: -Vending Machine Gun: Kamen Rider Quor's weapon. A machine gun that shoots out projections of beer cans. In exchange for shooting out larger projectiles, it heats up easily. However, this heat is stored and can be dispensed or used as extra energy in finishing attacks. -Cooling Cleaver: Quor's blade. It can absorb heat, cooling down various substances. Not as effective on hot days. The heat can be used as energy for finishing attacks or transferred onto the Vending Machine Gun via direct contact. It contains a pump handle that allows Quor to initiate the "On the rocks" slash, which will not only produce an energy slash, but send projectiles of ice cubes towards nearby targets to increase damage range. Villains: -Soberoids: the grunts. They release a substance that makes nearby people sober. While this may sound good, affected people lose their sense of fun and relaxation, causing them to devote themselves to work, eventually overworking themselves to death if not cured. In other words, these are VERY dangerous grunts. (Disclaimer: I do not encourage laziness or running away from work) -Saccharider: Name derived from 'saccharide', another term for sugar. It is a corrupted version of Kamen Rider Fermentor, utilising a suit that is made from Fermentor's; in other words, Fermentor is the prototype version (which has been upgraded) of Saccharider. However, because the suit was stolen before the other Shots were completed, Saccharider cannot change forms. Saccharider has a shoulder-mounted gun that resembles a broken wine bottle. |
Kamen Rider Shinigami

He gave the Samurai the Shogun's Touch, which corrupted him. He gave him the powers of Death and Dark Arts. He fought the wars, clashed against humans and killng them all, innocent, poor, evil, kind, all alike without mercy. One day, in the midst of the battlefield, the Samurai stood and looked at the carnage. He had saw his faults, the Shogun saw this and became angered, creating 25 demons he calls the Akuma, demons without souls, based off of human greeds. The gods, seeing the Samurai relieving his sins, bestowed him two gifts, the Shin Driver, a belt containing a powerful armor which gives him super speed, sight, strength, and hearing. They also gave him the Soultana, a blade the Angels keep safe which is made out of all negative energy of the Earth. The Samurai fought back, sealing the Shogun. Thus, to this day, calls himself the Shinigami. Now there are generations of generations of Shinigami, and now to this day, a new Shinigami rises up to take the mantle to stop the Akuma and Shogun once and for all. |
Why there's few activity in this thread ?

I need this now, also, I imagine the Sobberoids being like bottle robots.

I have an idea for a Rider themed after psychic powers and tarot cards, but I'm still working out the details.

It's rough, but here's an idea: The Caveman Rider, Kamen Rider Stone!
Motif: Ancient inventions and discoveries Transformation devices: Invenstones, small geode-like objects containing knowledge preserved from the lost empire of Mu. Main Rider: Kamen Rider Stone, a warrior from Mu, awakened (along with the villain and a cache of Invenstones) by an archeological dig. He remembers the evils of the Mu empire and is determined to stop it from being rebuilt. His main form is Stone of Fire! Second Rider: Kamen Rider Crown, a modern woman descended from Muian royalty. She's targeted by the villains and becomes a Kamen Rider to protect herself and her friends. Her main form is Crown of Blade! Third Rider: Kamen Rider Motor, a monster created from Stone's bike, he chose to side with his "partner" instead of the villains and eventually gained human and Rider forms. His main form is Motor of Beast! Villain Rider: Kamen Rider Ruin, a Muian priest awakened alongside Stone, he wants to conquer the modern world to create a new Mu empire. To that end, he seeks out weak-willed people and gives them the tools to create Akumu. When he steps out from the shadows and fights personally, he uses corrupted versions of Invenstones called Disastones, and his main form is Ruin the Flood! Monsters: Akumu, homonculi created from ordinary objects by a Muian ritual. They obey their creator's orders by any means necessary, even if it means hurting others. What's worse, when created by a normal person, they gradually drain their creator's life force to fuel their evolution into a new Invenstone. |

Kamen rider super-max.
|
Okay, this idea's a bit unusual for Kamen Rider, but I think it could be really cool.
Kamen Rider Stardust! Theme: Constellations, idols and gladiators U-Foe incoming! Have no fear, a Kamen Rider is on the way. Keep a safe distance and enjoy the show! Backstory: Ten years ago, mysterious monsters called U-Foes began appearing on Earth and attacking anyone in their path, and the Kamen Riders, heroes in high-tech suits powered by CosmiGems, rose up to defend humanity. Nowadays, U-Foe attacks have become even more common, but the Kamen Riders have gotten so effective at beating the monsters without any casualties that the public has stopped seeing it as a threat and started seeing it as entertainment. The media corporation STARZ mass-produces CosmiGems and STARZ Drivers, and markets Kamen Riders as celebrities. But behind the flash and fame, a dark secret lurks, and the people's sense of security may soon be shattered... Transformation items: CosmiGems, star-shaped crystals containing the power of constellations. They're sorted by elemental type (Fire, Earth, Air, Water, or Void which is rare and unknown to most people) and rank (1 to 5 stars, or Zodiac which is even stronger). Main rider: Kamen Rider Stardust! A teenage girl who recently graduated high school and wants nothing more than to become a Kamen Rider, so she enrolls in STARZ's prestigious training program. However, she has no affinity for Fire, Earth, Air or Water CosmiGems, leaving her weak and powerless when transformed. The other Riders-in-training bully her and nickname her "Dust." However, her fate changes when a mysterious stranger gives her a prototype Driver and the Ophiuchus Gem. Discovering she has an extremely high Void affinity, she vows to become the greatest Kamen Rider ever, taking the name Stardust to turn her hurtful nickname into a source of strength. Type: Void. Rank: Zodiac. *energetic techno music* Tail of shooting star! Shine Ophiuchus! It's showtime. Second rider: Kamen Rider Hunter! Another trainee in STARZ's program, a brash and hot-tempered young man who hates U-Foes with a burning passion because of something in his past, and is determined to become as powerful as possible to destroy as many as he can. He also hates Kamen Riders, but chose to become one so that he could fight U-Foes. Like Stardust, he aims to become the greatest Kamen Rider ever, but his goal is to prove to the world that all the other Riders are fake heroes who've been corrupted by fame and forgotten that their job is to protect people. The Orion Gem was left to him by someone, as a reminder of his past, but he refuses to tell anyone what happened. Five star Fire! *aggressive drum music* Hunter bears the torch! Shine Orion! Third rider: Kamen Rider Perfect! Another STARZ trainee, a vain and arrogant girl from a rich family who's used to always coming first in everything, and has a naturally high affinity for Earth-type Gems, enough to use Virgo almost right away even though normally only veteran Riders can handle Zodiacs. Because of this and her upbringing, she believes it's her destiny to become the greatest Kamen Rider (sensing a pattern here?) and looks down on those she views as not having as much potential as she does. Normally she claims to only care about proving how much better she is than others, but at times she shows a kind side and hints of loneliness. Zodiac Earth! *grand classical music* Radiant beauty! Shine Virgo! Fourth rider: Kamen Rider Venom! The teacher of Stardust, Hunter, Perfect and the rest of their training group, an older man with a cynical disposition who often comes across as intimidating whether he means to or not, but he has a kind heart and genuinely cares about his students. In his youth he used Scorpio and was marketed by STARZ as an edgy tough-guy Rider, but he grew tired of being famous and having to perform that role all the time, so he retired from fighting to teach the next generation. Now to save his stamina he normally uses Musca, a relatively weak form, but his experience makes him more than a match for his students and U-Foes should the need arise, for now at least... One star Water! *frantic high-pitched music* Swarming little lights! Shine Musca! Zodiac Water! *ominous rock music* Scorching desert sand! Shine Scorpio! I might come up with more Riders and other stuff later, but there's the initial idea. |
So... very much a work in progress, but here's the general idea.
Several years ago, a mountain burst open, unleashing three beings. Sycophantam, Tenebris and Leoht began wreaking havoc on the nearby cities, creating minions from everyday examples of elements such as fire, darkness, lightning, and more. One of these minions was brought down, and its essence became the first Flare. Researching the Flare, the Rider Belt was made and production began on making weapons to combat the three beings. Volunteers were given armors and took to battle. However, it was found out that prolonged use of Flares wore the human body out extremely quickly, with a large number of Riders dying in the fallout. Out of options, Androids began being produced as well, to wear the belts and fight for humanity's sake. The human Riders that survived helped to train the Androids, since many of them were too wounded to handle normal jobs. The story follows Dee, one of said androids, as she learns about the world and people around her, what it means to be a person, and herself. Main Rider: Kamen Rider Diamond Name: D-33 "Dee" Gender: Identifies as female, technically agender Motif: Gems/Jewelry Belt: Refiner Driver, a mainly silver belt with a blue light in the center and dark blue plating on each side. Henshin Device: ID Crystals, which unlock the belt and synchronize with the user's identity to retain user-specific armor. ID Crystals also develop with the user, and more change and grow in power over time. Armors themselves are decided by small objects called Flares, which are made from the essence of defeated monsters and range in theme. Weapons: Ring Saber, a sword made with a spare of Dee's main Flare, Diamond. It serves as a channeling weapon, allowing her to use much more powerful attacks than she would normally be capable of. Forms Geode Breaker: Dee's initial form, made from a prototype ID Crystal and a work in progress Flare. This form's only benefit is its extremely high defense, which rivals the mid-story upgrade for the amount of damage it can take, but at the cost of limited movement and draining power quickly. Diamond: Her base form made using the Diamond Flare. This form offers lower defense than any other form, but much higher speed and strength than Geode Breaker. Its because of her ability to use this from well that she got her Rider name. Quartz: Quartz Form is made when the Diamond Flare is swapped out for a Flare obtained from one of the higher up monsters. In Quartz, Dee's defense goes up, but without lowering her speed and damage as extensively as Geode Breaker, making it an alternative to Diamond Form. Queen of Diamonds: Dee's mid-story upgrade that replaces her base form. After choosing to save a monster who only wishes to live in peace, her ID Crystal changed form, unlocking Queen of Diamonds. This form acts as a combination of her three previous forms, with absurdly high defense, speed and damage. Engagement Form: Dee's final form, made when she and a former Rider both admitted their feelings for one another. This form uses no Flare, rather employing the former Rider's ID Crystal. In this form, she's capable of utilizing any Flares and even doubling the power she would normally get from them thanks to the dual crystals she uses, allowing for a number of new abilities and combinations. Just the main Rider for now, but maybe I'll talk about the other two sometime. |

At one point, it was going to be somewhat similar to Zero One's Hybrid-Rise forms, with thicker armor plating going over her base armor, but I went with this instead since it made more since with the theme. |
I haven't fully fleshed this idea out, but there was some discussion here a while back about Kamen Rider giving people hope, and elsewhere about the potential for a toku isekai, so that got me thinking about a Kamen Rider helping people survive and rebuild in a post-apocalyptic future. I call it Kamen Rider Ruin, and the tagline is "the future lies in Ruin."
Our hero is a delivery man from the modern day who brings a package to a science lab, but gets caught in an attack by some unknown enemy and ends up getting cryogenically frozen with the package. He thaws out 100 years into the future, where people live in domed cities to protect themselves from Maelstroms, bizarre natural disasters that mutate anything caught in them into monsters called Mal. Kamen Riders travel between the domes to deliver mail and packages, gather resources only found outside, and protect other travelers from the Mal. As fate would have it, the package our hero was carrying contains a powerful prototype Driver, and he becomes a Kamen Rider to help people and try to uncover the mystery of what happened 100 years ago, clashing with Mal and human villains who want to conquer the surviving cities. The collectible items are Storm Filters, lenses themed after different natural disasters that attach over a light on the Driver and equip different protective gear onto the Riders' base suits (this Rider system was originally designed as advanced safety gear that could adapt to different dangers). Creating one requires disaster data either copied from another Storm Lens or gathered directly from a Maelstrom. Ruin starts with the Cyclone Storm Lens for his main form, later gains Lightning and Blizzard lenses, the powerful Typhoon lens passed on from a veteran Rider who becomes his mentor, and finally the Perfect Storm Lens from going all the way into the eye of a Maelstrom. The Mal are creatures that survived unprotected exposure to a Maelstrom and came out of it mutated with monstrous new forms, strange abilities, and an urge to destroy. Most are mutated from animals and are just mindless beasts, but those mutated from humans are unique and keep their sentience. Some of these human-Mal are evil, but there are also those who don't want to hurt anyone and find ways to control their destructive urges. I don't know who the second and third Riders are (maybe Ruin's mentor should be one of them?), I figure since in this post-apocalyptic world being a Kamen Rider is just a job there would be a large number of them, and they might just use their real names as their Rider names, like Horobi and Jin. And there's probably multiple Riders with duplicates of the same Storm Lens, or else ones that are very similar (Cyclone and Tornado, for example). Maybe the second Rider should use Volcano for their main form, that seems like a good contrast to Ruin's wind- and sky-based forms. |
And yes, the designs of Kamen Rider Ruin and the other post-apocalyptic riders would take inspiration from gas masks and environment suits, I'm thinking something vaguely like this but less creepy (at least for the heroes, there could be villainous Riders who fully embrace the creepy gas mask look):

This idea's not finished, but I want to say it now so that if Saber turns out to be similar I can prove I'm not a copycat XD
The fairytale rider, Kamen Rider Shining! A librarian who discovers that the evil organization E.N.D. (Ever Negative Dominion) is using books as portals to dive into fairytales and change them to have tragic endings, which causes negative effects in the real world. To stop them, she dives into the books herself, and takes the guise of a mysterious masked knight to help the heroes against E.N.D.'s forces. She acts the part of a brave, confident knight, but internally she struggles to trust her own judgement, and tries to follow the original version of each tale as closely as possible so she doesn't mess it up. As she finds herself thrust into the role of the hero, and realizes that sometimes the scripted endings of the stories aren't as good as the books make them seem, she gradually learns to fight for what she believes is right and try to get the best ending she can without worrying so much about what's "supposed" to happen. The second rider is Kamen Rider Charming, a famous actor who wants to change the stories and make himself the main hero. He would help Shining and the story's rightful protagonists when it furthers his own ambitions, but shove them aside or even turn against them if they got in his way. At first he only wants fame and glory, but he grows to realize that's not what being a hero is about, and resolves to become someone who earns that title instead of just claiming it. Part of what sparks this change of heart is falling in love with a fairytale princess who rejects him because of his selfish behavior. The third rider is Kamen Rider Dashing, a thief and former member of E.N.D. who defected when he grew disillusioned with their goals. He never wanted all the tales to end tragically, he just feels it isn't right for the villains to always lose just because some writer decided they're evil. He'll help any fairytale character who tries to defy the fate written for them, but his highest priority is getting them to choose for themselves whether to be good or evil. Curiously, when someone asks him to make the same choice, he always dodges the question, as if he's afraid to answer. The transformation items are Shield Fairies, spirits that have decided to help the riders in their quests. They normally flutter around as little fairy-like figures, and to transform their wings fold together into a shield shape that slots into the driver. Each one has a different catchphrase. Shining's Shield Fairies: - Red Fairy, Let's ride! - Glass Fairy, Dance with me! - Red & Snow Fairies, So cool, let's ride together! - Beauty Fairy Sleep Mode, Sweet dreams... - Beauty Fairy Beast Mode, WAKE THE BEAST! - Summer Fairy Queen, Behold midsummer's majesty! Charming's Shield Fairies: - Snow Fairy, So cool! - Tower Fairy, Rise above! - Red & Snow Fairies, So cool, let's ride together! - Twin Fairies, We fear no witch! Dashing's Shield Fairies: - Mirror Fairy, Look in wonder! - Golden Fairy, Just right! - Ocean Fairy, Make a splash! - Wicked Fairy, CURSED CALAMITY! (Can anyone guess what story each Shield Fairy is based on?) |

Oh, and the Glass Fairy, which you didn't mention, is Cinderella. I'm glad you caught that the Beauty Fairy is both Sleeping Beauty and Beauty & the Beast, I'm pretty proud of that one :D And yep, you're right about the Tower Fairy, Twin Fairies and Ocean Fairy. I imagine there's only one of the driver adapter that lets the Red and Snow fairies be used together, so at first Shining and Charming have to take turns with the Red & Snow form, but when Shining gets more powerful forms she leaves the adapter to Charming who later uses it with the Twin fairies. And I also want a fairy based on Alice in Wonderland, but I'm not sure what her power should be. Maybe the Mirror Fairy (Look in wonder!) who doesn't grant a form of her own but instead copies the form of another? I could give that one to Dashing, to fit his backstory as a thief by letting him "steal" the powers of other riders. |
Quote:
Oops, I guess I forgot Glass Fairy. That's on me. XD And, well, my gut wanted to go with Snow White, but I guess I thought it was a red herring and didn't follow through. Should've saw the Snow White and Rose Red connection. XD Hmm, that's actually an interesting development for Shining and Charming, at least in terms of their powersets! Ooh, I really like the Alice in Wonderland idea! I think it fits perfectly! |
Thanks! I like how it worked out that Shining's two big power-ups before her final form are similar to the final forms of the other two riders: Red & Snow uses two fairies just like Charming's Twin form, and Beauty Beast Mode is a "dark" fairy just like Dashing's Wicked form.
I think the Mirror Fairy works especially well as a form for Dashing since he'd be introduced as an antagonist at first (unlike Charming who's a jerk but still a good guy), and being able to copy any form the hero uses against him is a great antagonist power. Oh, and here's some ideas for exclusive forms: - Wind Fairy, Blessed breeze! Used by Dashing in a prequel V-cinema, set before she was corrupted into the Wicked Fairy. - Never Fairy, Out of time! Used by the movie villain rider, Kamen Rider Swashbuckling, a storybook villain who obtained the power of a Kamen Rider himself and now conquers and plunders his way through the story worlds, hunting the one fairy who could stop him... - Nights Fairy Shade Mode, Tell a story! - Nights Fairy Sultana Mode, Tell one thousand stories! Used by Shining as her movie-exclusive forms, she's badly injured at the start of the movie locking her in her weaker mode, and Shining must race to restore her to power before Swashbuckling catches her! |
Swashbuckling sounds like an awesome movie villain! I guess the 'Never Fairy' is suppose to be a play on 'Neverland', a Peter Pan based villain. XD And I really love the Sultana fairy and it's 1001 Nights motif. If Marchenger were to get that crossover, maybe Shining could get an exclusive Fairy from them. Like, maybe...
- Axe Fairy, The Hunt Is On! Maybe Shining could get it from either my White or Red Rangers, based off of the Huntsman that appeared from either of their tales (In Snow White, they're suppose to kill Snow, but bring the Evil Queen a fake heart and in Red Riding Hood, in some versions, he cuts open the Big Bad Wolf and saves Red and Granny). |
Quote:
And I like your idea for the Axe Fairy! For some reason I imagine Shining feeling a protective instinct towards Marchen Red when they cross over, almost like a big sister, so maybe the Axe Fairy is the result of that. Maybe she goes to transform with the Red Fairy, but instead it turns her into the Axe Fairy form, and the fairy explains that since the role of Red Riding Hood is already taken in this story she became Red Riding Hood's protector instead. Meanwhile, Charming spends most of the crossover unable to transform, because he tried flirting with Marchen White and the Snow Fairy got jealous and refuses to work with him until he apologizes XD |
I'm still developing Shining, but meanwhile here's another idea:
The Psychic Rider, Kamen Rider Psi-K! In this world, roughly 5% of the population are Espers, humans born with psychic abilities, identifiable by a "third eye" mark on their forehead that gets more visible the more they use their powers. An Esper who loses control becomes a rampaging monster called a Psych-Over, sometimes they can be saved and returned to normal but other times the change is permanent. Because of this, Espers face widespread fear and prejudice from normal humans, and the distress this causes them raises their risk of going Psych-Over, creating a vicious cycle. Into this conflict steps Seiko Gushiken, AKA Kamen Rider Psi-K. She's an Esper who used to work for the secretive company Core Techs, who experimented on her to enhance and refine her powers and then sent her to hunt Psych-Overs. On one such mission (the first episode), she forms a bond with an orphaned Esper girl named Mirai, who holds great psychic potential that multiple sinister forces will stop at nothing to get their hands on, including the anti-Esper hate group Braindead, extremists within the Esper rights alliance Esperanza, and her old bosses at Core Techs. All three of these groups are willing to unleash Psych-Overs for their own purposes, and I think all three of them might eventually get Kamen Riders of their own too. The collectables are Psycards, cards themed after the Tarot major arcana that contain psychic powers extracted from Espers, a process that can possibly save someone who's gone Psych-Over but also possibly kill them. The Psycards are used to transform, summon items and activate special abilities, but unlike past card-based Riders, all Psycards are in the same style and can be used by any psychic Rider, so they could be traded or stolen back and forth between the characters, and duplicates could exist too. I haven't developed the other Riders much, though I have a vague notion of two brothers who become the twin Kamen Riders, Egos and I-D. And yes, the names are all driven by horrible puns XD |
(I feel a bit weird being the only one posting in here, but since nobody else is doing it, I guess I can keep going)
The Phantom Thief Rider, Kamen Rider Camo! In the near future, the A.I. company Hiden Intelligence uh I mean Kazama Robotics has taken the world by storm with their advanced robot series, called Mimi, which use an advanced learning program to quickly master any skill a human can. Only a few people know the terrifying truth: the Mimi "learning program" is actually a system for stealing skills and memories from humans! One man fights to stop the Mimi, expose Kazama's crimes, and steal back the stolen memories. His true identity a secret, he is hunted by the police, branded a criminal by the media, and whispered about in urban legends as... the Kamen Rider. Kamen Rider Camo is the main character (obviously), but he's not the point-of-view character, and stays mysterious for much of the series. Even the name he gives, Hirose Mitsu, is a play on "himitsu" (secret). The POV character is a journalist who accidentally becomes his sidekick when her attempts to learn the truth about him lead her to get caught up in his war against Kazama Robotics. The collectable items are Guise Disks, which contain skills and memories stolen by a Mimi. Only the stronger Mimi have them, weaker Mimi run on copied data. Each Guise Disk is themed after a job or occupation, and besides being used for Rider forms, either Mitsu or the person who the memory was stolen from can activate it to temporarily gain the skills it contains. When Mitsu uses a disk like this, he also instantly gets disguised as having that job, and when a disk's rightful owner uses it they permanently regain their stolen memories. Mitsu's ultimate goal after defeating Kazama Robotics is to return each Guise Disk to its rightful owner. Like with Psi-K, I haven't developed the other riders yet, but I know the second and third should be named Flicker and Mirage so that all together their three names make a play on the word "camouflage." |

___ I've held off on posting this, but I don't really think I'm going anywhere with this concept, so figured I'd put it out into the wild anyway; The series would take place in Tokyo, or some kind of large fictional city that has a lot of neon lights that make the night as bright as a star. While from the outside, the city is a bastion of technological advancement. But every citizen is aware of the massive turf war going on. With gangs? You wish! These are done by massive corporations. There are three main corporations fighting each other, with various smaller corps either being absorbed by the big 3, are trying to carve a small niche for themselves, or merging together to form a big enough power to topple the other 3. And how are these battles fought? Usually with what are called 'Mengu Core', a face mask that transforms employees into monster soldiers, with higher ups getting better masks that makes them look more like monster-like samurais. These constant battles are always bringing in the common folk into the middle, with the companies always sweeping you under the rug-one way or the other. But, hold on, it seems one of the companies have done inventory and a Mengu Core is missing. Well, that's because it was stolen and reverse-engineered into the 'Kage Driver', a special belt buckle and the transformation trinket that transforms Matsuba Edo, aka Codename Iga, into Kamen Rider Tokage! Translator's Note: 'Tokage' is Japanese for 'Lizard', but 'Kage' on its own can also mean 'Shadow'. Another Note: I'm partially aware that Gaim has a Warring States/Samurai theme going on, but I thought it'd be interesting if we took that theme, but put our hero in the role of a ninja instead of another warring lord. Matsuba is effectively a ninja and the chosen champion of his clan to become the Kamen Rider in order to fight the Company Lords from the shadows and take them for the sake of the common man. Over the series, he'll get various 'Jutsu Batteries', effectively tube-like devices that he'll put into a holster on his hips for the Kage Driver to activate a jutsu. He'd also get various other tools outside of Jutsu Batteries that are legit ninja tools, like katanas, shuriken, caltrops, and so on. I can't think of what secondary riders could be, but they could maybe be based off of other animals associated with ninjas, like a Kamen Rider Gama(Toad) and Kamen Rider Kitsune(Fox), perhaps chosen from other clans. Perhaps they could be enemy ninjas working for these Company Lords, as Samurais did have ninjas under their employ. |

If Tokage fights for the people and there's also the corporations fighting each other, that could lead to some really interesting scenarios where the other riders have their own agendas, and sometimes team up with Tokage because they share a common goal or enemy, but are never truly on the same side and don't firmly settle on hero or villain until the endgame. You could have a rider who shares Tokage's drive to bring down the corporations but doesn't care about protecting people, one who's loyal to a corporation because they genuinely believe it's the right side (obviously without knowing just how corrupt the corporation is), one who's forced to work for a corporation but will turn on it the moment they get free, and more... |
Yeah, Camo and Tokage definitely are kind of similar to each other. That could make for a pretty cool team up!
And yeah, definitely intended for Riders to share a common goal of taking down the corporations, but I really like the idea of them not necessarily having the same motivations and a Rider being forced to work until they can get free of their grip. So many possibilities for different ninjas. |
The discussion about the disappearance of the "remodeled human" trope got me thinking about how to revisit the idea in a way that was more favorable towards people who've had organ transplants or other serious medical alterations in real life. It's being slow to develop, since it's a subject I'd want to handle with care, but I have some initial ideas.
A secretive organization calling itself the Saisei (rebirth) Foundation reaches out to people with conditions that normal medicine can't help with and offers to remodel them into cyborgs. The cybernetics aren't perfect, they have drawbacks and limitations and part of the story would be showing how the cyborgs adjust, but to someone with an incurable illness or injury they can be life-changing or even life-saving. The surgery is free of charge, but in exchange, these cyborgs also have to fight for Saisei as Kamen Riders! I haven't figured out yet why the Kamen Riders have to fight. I could copy Shocker and have Saisei be evil, with the hero riders being those who rebel against its control. But I think I prefer Saisei having a few questionable practices and corrupt members but ultimately good intentions, and pitting the riders against something worse. Maybe the villains have an origin connected to Saisei, or are connected to how the riders got their conditions in the first place, or both. Anyway, I'm not sure who the individual riders are or what their forms and collectables are based on, but I like the idea that some parts of their suits are cybernetics visible outside their body and are also part of their civilian appearances. Like for example, if one had a prosthetic hand, that hand would stay the same when they transformed. And I'm toying with the idea of the main rider having cybernetic legs that sometimes break and a motorcycle that changes into a wheelchair, but that might be too silly. |
I don't know why, but I kept thinking this was going into some kind of Kamen Rider Repoman, but I guess it'd be messed up if Riders were violently ripping cybernetics out of people that skipped on the bill.
There could be a splinter group of Saisei who are evil. Like, traitors in the mix trying to take over the world. Perhaps someone who left Saisei and stole their secrets to create his own evil Cyborgs? Perhaps Saisei is a straight up REVERSE Shocker? An Altruistic Organization that helps people with those cybernetics in the hopes of stopping perhaps some kind of alien invasion? Hope any of these help! |
This more goes into parody ideas but me and my brothers always joked about this idea of a Kamen Rider General/Generik where he just uses a regular leather belt to transform and uses mundane items as weapons/upgrades. Washed out colors, grey bug eye, and just overall very plain.

If nothing else, it could be really funny to see some monster monologue about how humans are the REAL monster and he's here to do pest control...only to be interrupted by Generik just bonking him with his bat. He doesn't got time for this, his favorite show's on in an hour and he's holding up traffic. |
I think one thing that would fit the parody elements would having one of the characters being genre savvy to the conventions of a Kamen Rider. And then doing something unexpected that breaks with that formula. Kind of like how Akibaranger didn’t have the giant battles

I really should work on developing one of the ideas I already have, but instead, here's yet another new one!
The Werewolf Rider, Kamen Rider Howl! First I have to explain the monsters. They're called Phobias, manifestations of people's fears, who terrorize their victims to feed on their willpower, eventually destroying the victim's mind and allowing the Phobia to take over their body. The leaders are the Prime Phobias, born from humanity's primal fears. Each one has a different agenda regarding the lesser Phobias, and each one also resembles a classic horror monster: - Sanguine, the Prime Phobia of blood, cultivates lesser Phobias and then cannibalizes them, getting willpower from them instead of directly from victims. He resembles a vampire. - Abyss, the Prime Phobia of drowning, tests lesser Phobias, seeking the strongest one of all. She resembles a mermaid or fishman. - Coffin, the Prime Phobia of darkness, is raising an army of Phobias to serve him as their king. He resembles a mummy. - Storm, the Prime Phobia of thunder, at first appears to be a brute with no plan but later reveals that he's gathering data from other Phobias' battles to further his own evolution. He resembles Frankenstein's monster. - Moonlight, the Prime Phobia of predators, originally planned to follow lesser Phobias to find humans to prey on, but something unexpected happened... She resembles a werewolf. The main rider is Haruna "Runa" Kurosawa, an eccentric jeweler who might have some mild kind of insanity, she crafts her jewelry and lives her life according to strange rules which she believes bring good luck. She has massive amounts of willpower, drawing Moonlight to try to feed on her, but Moonlight is absorbed into Haruna's mind instead, forcing the two of them to share a body, with Haruna mainly in control but Moonlight able to take over if she loses focus. Because of Haruna's unusual mind and great willpower, her homemade good-luck charms can actually affect Phobia powers, and she uses these to stabilize their comination. Together they start hunting other Phobias, using a padlock-shaped belt buckle and special keys to unleash controlled amounts of Moonlight's power and transform into a Kamen Rider. Haruna's motivation is to protect people, but Moonlight only does it to feed on the other Phobias (though she gradually grows fond of Haruna). Along the way, they also clash with H.U.N.T. (Humanoid Unknown Neutralization Taskforce), a shadowy government strike team who also fight Phobias but are more concerned with keeping their existence secret than with protecting people. I haven't fleshed out the other Riders yet, but one (Kamen Rider Slayer) is a loyal H.U.N.T. agent, and the other (Kamen Rider Magus) is a defector on a mission to find the truth being the Phobias' origin. The Phobias were created when a government experiment into harnessing willpower went horribly wrong, the Prime Phobias' human forms are the bodies of the scientists from that experiment, and the H.U.N.T. higher-ups' true goal is to find a way to control and weaponize Phobias. The collectables are Luna Keys (a reference to Moonlight, mispronunciation of Haruna's nickname, and also a play on the word "lunacy"), key-like charms Haruna creates to unleash Moonlight's power. Slayer and Magus don't use Luna Keys for their base forms, but do need them for later power-ups. Howl has the following forms: - Half Moon, tracking form with sharp senses, the first Luna Key created. Even after gaining other forms, this is still the one Haruna defaults to when facing an unfamiliar foe, using its enhanced senses to study them even in the middle of a fight and figure out the best way to beat them. - Full Moon, brawling form with great strength, Howl's second Luna Key, made by Haruna when Moonlight convinced her they needed to unleash more power to defeat the Statue Phobia. In this form, Moonlight is the main one in control, with Haruna only able to hold her back. If they transform with Moonlight already in control, she defaults to Full Moon. - New Moon, rushing form with high speed, Howl's third Luna Key made with technology Haruna swiped while escaping from a H.U.N.T. lab where she was captured and separated from Moonlight. Haruna can use this form by herself, but can only maintain it for twelve seconds at a time. After reuniting with Moonlight, Howl can stay in New Moon indefinitely, but the twelve second limit still applies to its top speed. - Lunar Eclipse, ultimate form with balanced stats and limited telepathic abilities, including mind-reading and forcing weak-willed enemies to panic. Howl's fourth and final Luna Key, and the first one made by Moonlight herself, who created it and the Kamen Lock (an attachment to the Howl Driver) to save Haruna from turning into the Inhuman Phobia. In this form, Haruna and Moonlight both control their body, and need to work in harmony to use it effectively. |
I’ve not really developed the idea, but I’ve got one.
A Rider based around the four seasons. |
