I wonder if Jaou Dragon is just gonna be a "the strongest power up" until Saber's super form or if it's gonna be a Dangerous Zombie kind of situation.

Yeah but then it became Level X-0 and carried him to the endgame by making it so he didn't lose lives quite so quickly.
|
Maybe like 5% not as quickly! In hindsight, it's funny how in the first half of the show when he was fully immortal, he only 'died' a little more than a dozen times. Yet when he came back with limited lives, he actually eventually loses all 99 of them.
Anyway, can't wait for Calibur to get beaten by double flaming dragon, and then again by mecha-suit dragon. |
This ep was insane. I didn’t think blades would be the first to be killed off wow. Starting to feel like a bit of Ryuki. He was not in the preview so...

Just gonna get some healing till he's back on his feet. But what happened to Sophia!? |
I love that the Jaou Dragon suit still uses the bottom half of Jaaku Dragon's suit. Calibur has such a gorgeous design; it would have been an absolute waste to completely replace it. It's oddly satisfying.
|
I got a feeling later in the series we'll somehow get a Jaaku Dragon VS Jaou Dragon like Zangetsu VS Zangetsu Shin
|
I wonder if Legeiel would get mad at Calibur since his plan was to use each of the six swordsmen for his pillar thing but Calibur took down Rintaro.

Need to rewatch with subtitles but Kento is going full psycho "everyone is a traitor" route + "I get angry at friends" trope and I don't like it. But it was predictable.
Jaou Dragon is totally power metal rider :'D Mei landing after falling in the stairs was *_* |
I just hope there’ll be a Saber vs Calibur fight like Build and Stalk.
Rintaro better heal soon, for Mei’s heart shouldn’t break!!! Kento will probably join the Southern Branch. |
Just realized rewatching this episode that it was rather savage for a kids show
The Goblin way of dealing with people is almost GAROesque with those blood red shape being left behind. And anyone who've seen Ex-Aid should still have PTSD from a particular moment when watching Kento and Rintaro final scene in this ep. I wonder what's the deal about Sophia though. It looks like she knew she would not come back to the northern base because she gives the key to Mei. The show wants us to believe someone teleports her by surprise (probably wants us to believe it's Reika), but I have the feeling she's doing something on her own. And maybe it sounds absurd, but when Tassel's doorbell is ringing at the end, and he is saying "ah they arrived" I don't know why my mind immediately thought "Maybe that's Sophia and Reika" |

I don't have anything particularly elaborate to say about this one, but I really loved it. Kento and Rintarou's interpersonal conflict is classic early Heisei drama that I'm all over, and Nakazawa's direction is really slick in the fight scenes, as always, right down to the usual use of slow-motion for emphasis.
Plus, Calibur is pretty cool! I don't know if I've really said that yet, so I guess this is a good time to get it out there. I'm on record as not being too hot on main bad guys who are Riders for little reason, so explicitly making both versions of this character fallen heroes does a lot to put some weight back into the concept. How much I like him in the long-term is going to depend on what the payoff we get is, but I'm enjoying the way they're keeping his motives entirely ambiguous by only telling us he wants great power at all costs without saying yet what that power is for. Kento may be acting overly paranoid in this episode, but there are a lot of hints that the series genuinely does have some huge conspiracy going on, and that's got my attention. |
This was a pretty fun episode, pretty brutal at times too due to just well, how they handled the civilians and Rintaro just coughing up blood at the end there.
Jaouh Dragon is definitely a favorite in terms of jingle, like it starts heavy metal scream voice and turns into a song is really cool. Very interested to see where things go from here since it seems we're in full swing on our endgame for Quarter 1. |
Finally saw the episode.
Wow, I guess Christmas came early this year. Poor Rintaro. And as nonsensical as Jaou Dragon's jingle is, I can't deny how intense it sounds. Also, goblins as this week's monsters? Where's Goblin Slayer when you need him? |

And that scene where Touma just told the goblin to stop, what was that? Did he actually think that would work? Anyway I liked this episode. Even Mei and Tassel are getting interesting! |

When he said "stop stop" I thought HE would be the one to hit the goblin, but no (thinking about it that would have been a scene a show like Ex-Aid or Build would have done, but here it was the opposite). Touma was really funny this week. There was also that tiny moment when Mei screamed because the book in her bag show her the goblins doing stuff, Touma immediately adopted a fighting stance even though he was in SoL room. |
Oh is that what you guys' subs translated it to? GenmCorp made it "Time out, time out!" which I thought was funny

This epsiode is like one of those cliche episode where there's a lot of actions between different parties, but no plot development whatsoever like zio a new form debuts, but it's sprinkling dusts building up for next episode where there may or may not be a truck load of exposition fact droppings. Not a fan of sophia as the not so wise damsel as well. She supposed to be the leader of the guild. Mei doesn't have any relevance in the action, so she's just the comedy relief tripping off the stairs and giving nervous reactions like a dragonball support.
The aesthetic and ideas are good for the show, but the pacing is either too fast or too abrupt. They tried to make us care about kento and his father, but there's literally no reason to. The same with touma's memories. It's weird that I always thought hr knew about kento being the 3 kids in the flashback. He just forgot about the girl. The same with calibur being Kento's dad. Wasnt that out there a few episodes ago when touma was pondering at his homemade detective wall. |
For a brief moment, I thought Mei was going to become a serious character. Writers, please make up your mind on what you want her to be. She keeps flip flopping between starting to turn into an actual member of the cast, and just being the goofy screaming woman.
Rintaro is starting to remind me of Brave, for some reason. It's also nice to know that the swords have a purpose, and that Slash's gun isn't considered one of them. |
(Sees insanely strong powerup given to heel Rider)
(Looks at Episode number) (Shrug) Because it is in fact, way way too soon. No one remembers Ghost? All those power ups and they were quickly retired for the next one up. I know it's a troupe of the Rider series, but I feel like since Zi-O we've just gotten worse and worse. Or perhaps it's me watching too many older Showa era Rider shows. I'm going to just sit and enjoy it for what it's worth, but kind of like Kiramager I'm just not fully into this one like I was with Zero-One. |

Yeah I could not give a fuck about this episode. Mei is useless even though they try to make her have a point but seem to be failing. I swear Touma already knew about Kento's dad being Caliber before the last episode.
Why is Touma the main character? The way they handle Kento seems pretty forced. Literally can this show give me some hope of this being good because for some reason I don't drop Kamen Rider shows. If I had to say anything nice about this episode, the villains I still like. Tassel has been quite enjoyable, The transformation for Jaou Dragon was really nice it made me like the suit. Love the sound for it was like an evil Reading Rainbow. But yeah this show sucks, I hope it changes my mind soon. |

Watched Kenzan's biography. He had a brief fight with Dezast, is all. But what was interesting is that Dezast teases him some sort of "ultimate power" and how strength isn't necessarily justice. Ren refuses but when the fight ended and he starts to walk away, his "heel turns". And Dezast from a distance remarking that Ren is "one of them".
Ogami is also growing suspicious of Sophia. |
Honestly of the Knights from the Northern Base to turn, Kenzan makes the most sense just given his attitude and personality.
|
Who's subbing these? Genm hasn't beyond the first episode.

TV-Nihon has done Slash and Buster as well. I'm using them to watch everything Saber.
|
The Kenzan one is really weird.
If ever the discussion between Dezast and Ren happens to lead to something in the main show like Ren becoming evil, that will be incredibly weird. Because Retsudens are released on a platform I doubt kids can reach easily. |
