There's a video where Sarah Brown presented her proof of Levy's sexual assault, I plan to watch it later as I am in class at the time of this post.

In the World of Today, there is such a thing as "cancel culture" and a couple of days prior to this story breaking, I realized how far it could go, and it bothered me somewhat. Then I hear that someone is saying "#BoycottPowerRangers" because the OG Franchise Titans did bad things! VERY BAD THINGS!!! One thing I don't know is if Brown mentally incorporated the Disney Era or Hasbro's current ownership! I know Levy and Brown haven't been involved for years, but I also know that for some, it might not matter, and this franchise can't afford mass-defections. Saban kept this franchise going and, if Brown is correct, might have covered-up a crime to make kids happy and himself richer! Will the Rangerverse continue? Yes! But in what capacity? Will Saban and Levy make money off potential royalties, even if they don't deserve them? Hope not, especially if Brown is correct! |

Yes, Cancel culture is a thing, but Power Rangers isn't the type of show that will suffer from it. We had actors committing murder we had on-set homophobia We had an actor stealing from sick children None of those things derailed peoples perspective of this show, so what makes you think this will. |
'Cancel Culture' isn't really much of a thing outside of interpersonal circles to begin with, honestly; and I feel people make far too big of a deal out of it than they should and use it as a buzzword to group a lot of different separate things together. People have always had criticism of celebrities' actions and other people have always been put off from a property due to the actions of certain creatives involved -- none of this is new or special, and doesn't really require a special classification. It's just that with Social Media and the Internet in general, it's a process that happens quicker and is easier to see happen in real time.
And more to the point, I frankly haven't seen many people talking about this -- and the few people I have seen talking about it who believe Brown and are disgusted by Levy, they don't really directly associate it with Power Rangers and remain fans especially with newer creatives on the job. I think we've really got to stop crying "CANCEL CULTURE!!!" on everything like this and look at the reality of the situation with a bit more nuance and common sense. And, while we're at it, maybe stop the doomsday prophecies about a massive money-making machine that has survived far worse and continues to go on to this day. And frankly, even the 'worst case scenario' is people you don't know not watching a show and/or buying products anymore. Hardly a big deal. |
I am just watching all of this while eating a bag of popcorn.
