I'm sorry to hear that you didn't like it, if only because I'd love for every Rider Show to be enjoyable to everyone. I did get that feel from the first episode, and I'm not sure if that a good thing or a bad thing yet, but we'll find out! I'm looking forward to seeing the early Heisei if only to see if they actually do more with the bikes then the later ones. Quote:

Yeah, I've heard that Hibiki is the odd one out. It’s interesting that Rider stopped the ending themes when Sentai and U-Man still do it (I think) Quote:
1. Ex-Aid 2. W 3. Build 4. Ghost 5. OOOs I know. How could I rank OOOs so low. And put Ghost above it? Spoilers for my thoughts of those seasons, don't read if you don't want spoilers! Ex-Aid was my first series, so it may hold a biased place in my heart just for how it got me into the franchise. But I love the idea behind it, and how we had an ensemble cast of heroes and villians. I loved how we had people who didn't see eye to eye that are forced to team up for a common goal. And even then, they'll fight each other if they want to use certain power ups. And of course Gemn. Some people disliked it, but I loved how he gradually became unhinged as the show went on. Also they fight Pac-Man. W was my earliest show till I started Kuuga, and I loved the Noir Detective vibe. Also, the two in one style it had, with one of the big conflicts of the show being that there differences in base power made W unusual. I also liked the lack of forms. We were pretty much show all of his forms the first episode, and we didn't get a new one until Fang much later on. The only thing that stopped this from being #1 on my list was that ending. Really put a sour taste in my mouth. Build was my only show I've seen while it air, and I had fun watching it from week to week. The characters are my favorite of all the Riders I've seen so far, and the beginning of the show was so strong. The episode where Sento losses control and accidentally kills one of the trio, and he starts to physically dry heave as he realizes he crossed the line that no hero should cross. Its still so powerful. And then the middle of the show happened, and really draaaaaaged. Like I think the best parts of Build are better than all of W. But W is a more consistent show, and I enjoy that more to an extent. Maybe on my rewatch of the two of them, or as time passes, I might switch this and W around, but for now the dragging and drop in quality of the middle of the show for me kinda killed the momentum of the show and even though I enjoyed the ending, the movies kinda retroactively change that? (I'm watching Cross-Z atm, and I'll watch Grease when its subbed) so that kinda makes the ending less impactful, also lowering it a bit in my mind. Ghost was not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Its not good, but I had fun with it. Maybe its because I turned my brain off, and when I rewatch it near the end of my journey to Zi-O it'll turn out that its a pile of garbage. I think the biggest problem I had with it was the failure of using it gimmick and plot to its fullest, and waaaaaaay to many form/powerups. Like, I think we see more of the Musashi form then his base in the first episode. It might not be the case, but the fact that I have to question this is not good. And hes a ghost. Make it more spooky! I wanted more spooky thing! Other than that, I did have fun. I really love the suits. It's a dumb fun show if you just don't think too hard. I was told that OOOs was the best series in the Neo-Heisei era, if not the whole Heisei era. I feel lied to. I was sooooooooo bored. At least, I remember being bored. I watched the Movie Wars with W and OOOs a few day ago to see if maybe I liked OOOs more than I remember, and that was a horrible idea. The OOOs portion of that movie is terrible. I like the suit, but I hated the Chairman, the second Secondary Rider is really boring for most of the show, the lead girl was kinda just there. Don't even remember her name. And I didn't like Ejji for some reason. I like the idea of him, but I never got engaged with his struggle. I was confused why he didn't use more of his money to help people? Or was that a plot point I've forgotten about? Apologize, but I just struggled to get through it. I plan on watching it again and maybe my opinion of it will change, but I was very disappointed with it. Its weird, because I think, from a technical point of view, its 100% better than Ghost in pretty much every way. But I enjoyed Ghost 100% more. OOOs is the first show I've quit and had to come back to later. |
