Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Episode 38- "Period Of Tears!" Discussion
Taiga has been horribly wounded in battle, and the only one who can save his life with surgery is Hiro. But Masamune demands that Taiga die in order to prove Hiro's loyalty. Which side is Brave truly on???
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Os medal book made an appearance. lol Also, I knew Kuroto will lose a lot of lives in one episode sooner or later, but didn't expect it to be one at a time. I was thinking he lose them the same way he decrease other riders' levels.

^Spoiler, please? We usually tag spoiler until official subs are up in the net. For my comment to this episode:
"Grandmother said this Hiiro, there's thousands and millions of women in the world so great job on moving on from Saki. Do you think that Saki will still love and accept you if she realizes that you threw away 'the best doctor in the world' title for her? She would slap you in the face if you did kill Taiga. As sad as it is, Hiiro makes a truly heroic actions." Grandmother would be proud. |

It's the dedicated thread for the episode, anyone coming here either already watched the episode or is/should be ok being spoiled about it. Spoilers are virtually never used in these threads. It's not a thing. |
Farewell Saki.....
Hiiro is really heroic in this episode, he help Taiga despite Saki must die after Masamune erase Saki data..... Next episode looks really sad too.... |
So the ending of Taddle game, the Hero failed to save the Princess, choose to save the world.
|
Hero decide to save to world than save princess
~Ending A Okay on side note: - i like detail on taddle legacy more the armor kinda look like made from ceramic from closer look and i think its neat -Hmm is cronus kinda abandoned his stopping power since its pointless with muteki around? -Wow Dan lose a lots of life in this episode what man that he become now -okay dat preview, i never feel sad for villain to die good job ex-aid, though i kinda wonder why chronus not use his magic keyboard to delete bugster from distance like he did on salty? or is he like to test our heroes resolve that much? |

Oof, this episode hit HARD.
And the preview for next week hit just as hard |
Oh man... I can't control my tears anymore after watching this episode :(. Seriously, who did say that Hiiro's is a poorly written character? His character development might not be the best out of the four, but as of this episode, his angst almost reaches Emu's level. It's surprising that Kuroto lost so many lives here and as fast as trainwreck. On a side note, I want to shed a manly tear when Hiiro called Taiga not as unlicensed doctor but as 'Doctor Hanaya'. Hiiro doesn't blame Taiga at all for what happening in this episode and instead admits that he is wrong. Good job, Hiiro :D
|
Damn...Hiiro's actor really killed it this episode. Seeing him break down at the end in the rain was just heartwrenching, and especially seeing him finally address Taiga as a legitimate doctor and crack a smile. So many feels. Crazy thing is I was almost positive they would find a way to retrieve Saki's data from Cronus but nope....she's just gone. Since this series has to have a happy ending for our heroes, I'm sure we'll figure out something later on where she's able to come back but for now...damn.
Seems like next week, Masamune somehow got Nico infected with Pallad's virus, so now Emu is left between destroying Pallad (and his ability to transform) to save the patient OR letting Nico die. This is a very interesting setup. Usually, the villain is smart enough to know how stupidly OP the main Rider's upgrade form is and tries to fight it head on. But Masamune as a villain thus far has been unbelievably pragmatic for a Kamen Rider villain, between utilizing the energy items to both give himself an edge against Pallad and Graphite and to defend himself against Ex-Aid and Brave's double Rider kick (seriously, when has a final villain EVER survived from a double rider kick from both the main rider and secondary rider's FINAL forms?!). Although am I the only one that got HEAVY OOOs flashbacks when he pulled out that book that contained all the energy medals? |

This was an emotional one. The scene where Hiiro was crying in the rain was really heartbreaking. I can't believe Cronus still got away. I can't wait until he's finally defeated.
|
You know what's more sad than everything that we already said above? Saki literally just spent the last 5 episodes doing nothing but standing in place and repeating the same words over and over again. Can anyone suggest how we should pay a role like this?

But in this Episode, and the previous one thanks to Taiga, he's finally realized that he needs to let go of the past, and move on forward. And that includes leaving behind not just guilt of Saki's death, but also grudges toward those he blamed, namely Taiga. He said before that until he sees Saki again & makes amends with her, he's unsure he can move on being a great doctor, but now he's realized that he indeed CAN move on without her, because like he says, he will focus on the operation at hand to save the people in front of him. .....TLDR, SCREW all that "Hiiro's development sucks" nonsense, Hiiro just became the best character in the show. :P |
I really agree, now after seeing the Movie Poster one more time, what if Hiiro is the survivor in this series ?
remember Gaim? Micchy and Takatora finally have happy life, so does Hiiro and Saki in the end of story |

Also, I know that Hiiro's suffering so much, especially here because of Saki's true death. However, Emu also had gone through so much pain too. The only difference is Emu, ironically, managed to hide his own feelings or just let go off his mental torture. But, for Hiiro, he just breaks down the moment he expresses his feelings; watch back episode 34 a more deep evidence. This is why i really love Emu and Hiiro's dynamic; they're as cute and good as Shinji and Ren's dynamic. On deeper hindsight, I found that the whole reason why Hiiro wants to Saki wasn't because he loves her. Well, granted, he indeed loves Saki to some degrees but it only makes up for several percentages of his whole betrayal. Seriously, there's tons of women out there who is much better than Saki at best, but he still clings to the past of his girlfriend despite her death. Even if you indeed revive her, would that fix your relationship with her? It's not that Saki will be 100% your wife in the future, right? I found that the whole reason Hiiro wants to revive back Saki because he wants to free himself and count up his sins because of Saki. As what TheGloryXros said, Hiiros basically blames all of Saki's death to him and he feels it as a dreadful sin that couldn't be forgiven unless he can get Saki back. This is why this whole two arc basically try to scream that Hiiro shouldn't shoulder all of his sin and burden all by himself and he should just move on from all of the mistakes that he had done before. But, I have enough rambling here before anyone becomes even lazier to read this. |
Really, really great episode. Hiiro's struggle over the last few episodes has been fantastic and to see it come to such an end was really moving. Watching Kiriya and Kuroto working together was pretty crazy too, and shows just how far Ex-Aid has come since it started.
My biggest takeaway though was that apparently Emu is a good enough intern to work as a scrub on a dangerous operation :lol he's only even been doing surgery for a couple of months! |

So Hiiro's arc is finally over. Taiga's is probably next and most likely end once all of Episode Zero is shown so around mid 40s? About that time, the Taiga and Hiiro should call each other and Emu by names already...I guess Hiiro already does.
I wonder if Taiga will get an upgrade...its unfair Hiiro gets one, he doesnt. xD Next episode, Emu finally deals with Parado. He is becoming a tragic villain. He may not be killed off and instead return as the final boss abandoning his dream to beat Emu and just finish off humanity for being rejected of his wish or he will merge with Emu. Graphite is absent from the preview...wonder what will happen to him. Please don't rob me off his final showdown with Taiga (hopefully with an upgrade) and/or Hiiro. |
I still hope in the next episode and few, Parad will still fight Emu after Gemdeus. Drive vs Heart.
|
I think everyone's hope for Taiga to get an upgrade will be shot down. There're no news or anything particular that foreshadows Taiga to get an upgrade. The toy catalog confirmed that the final toy batch are the Taddle Legacy and the movies' Gashat. So, nope, a slim chance that Taiga will receive an upgrade. Still, there's always a staple of the annual last-minute addition mismatch forms recently. Taiga might be lucky to get one. I really hope that this will be true since I'm really sick to see BBS overused.
As sad as the preview of the next episode is, I'm pretty sure that Parad will survive. Let's see the fact that he will appear in the True Ending cements this. Oh, by the way, recent episodes summaries show that True Ending is canon to the main universe in some ways. Second, come on, after the whole heck dead or alive things, would you still expect them to kill Parad? He's just a bratty child who wants attention from his brother-like figure, though, in the most extreme way. Third, even if Parad dies, would it be a permanent death? As of this episode, Hyper Muteki hasn't shown the abilities to kill Bugsters permanently. So, Parad might come back in some ways later |

Dangit Toei, we talked about this! Leave the poor guy alone already! He has enough problems without all the bruising! Great episode. The subplot with Hiiro comes to exactly the end it was obviously going to come to, and I couldn't be happier. The closest things I have to complaints are: - The ending had that Ghost problem where the scene just sort of stops a little before the emotion really has time to sink in. - I guess literally anytime anything sad happens in Ex-Aid's world, it just starts raining. If this weren't a show about video game doctors beating up viruses with swords I'd call that a bit much. - Similarly the whole thing with that tear falling VERY DRAMATICALLY was rather odd. But hey, none of that is enough to really bother me, and next week looks beyond amazing, so I can't wait for that. |
Emotional episode, You are the cancer of the world has to be my new favorite KR line.
|
I'm a bit late this time around! Maybe it was because I watched this episode past midnight or because I like a lot of extended dramatic angsting scenes when episodes like this happen, but it wasn't quite as stellar as I expected. Still good, but I just felt weirdly uninvolved in the whole thing. Still, it's nice to have Hiiro back with well... the heroes, and he got some nice development out of the whole ordeal! The next episode with Parad's breakdown looks freaking incredible though.
|
Hmm...I hope Saki cannot revived because if she revived, it will be ruin this awesome storyline in this episode....
Also it will be boring if Saki revived and revived character storyline will be overused because we already has revived characters like Kuroto and Kiriya..... |
