Nice episode again.
I didn't expect the episode to revolve around Jin like this. At least not THAT way with him being torn with emotions. The episode confirmed he is a humagear though. So i wonder what was the meaning of the scene in Ep1. Lightning Hornet debut was cool. I prefer this one than Rushing Cheetah and at least Yua gets to finish the monster of the week this time. But she still was overshadowed by Jin debut though. So far we can't say she had a full episode centered on her only. I hope this will improve. |
I want her to step on me Part 2
|
This episode had that "filler" feel, but still a good episode.Jin's costume is cool, though the harsh Pink is distracting for a menacing figure as this(imo)so Jin IS a Humagear, this opens up tons of possibilities...not a bad start to the series, hope the writers can keep it up! And yeah,we need more Kamen Rider Valkyrie, please :)
|
Is that Lady Kiva in the opening scene?
|
OMG Lightning Hornet Have 3 Abilities
She Can Fly, Have Homing Missle and Of Course Thunder Element in top at that... Not Mention Her Rider Kick have Actual Hornet Sting from Her Legs!!! Flamming Tiger might be My Favorites in term of Look.. But Goddamn Lighning Hornet is Sleek and Versitle in Term of Ability... I Kinda Like Kamen rider Jin He funny enough Remind me Of Zyuoh Eagle.. I honestly Want MJ.net try to steal other PK, so we can see other possible suit in Force riser |
That Force Riser is more efficient that brute forcing your key to open.
Come on Fuwa... |
A good episode again. Gives us a confirmation that Jin is a humagear. And one that feels conflict at that. They might try a redemption arc sometime down the line.
Lightning Hornet debut was nice. I really like the suits in this series. And an interesting law in A.I. that you cannot make a humagear that looks like someone without their permission. Makes sense though. |
Maybe Jin previously HumaGear who created by Aruto's grandfather and he is reprogrammed by Horobi.
Jin should be very special HumaGear because he have realistic human emotions. Quote:

LIGHTNING HORNET EVEN HAS INSECT WINGS THIS SUIT IS SO INSANELY GOOD
... ahem. Not my favourite episode so far, but this Jin development is super interesting. We've had redemptions for villains that due to the circumstances of their 'birth' they didn't know any better before like Parado, but this instance seems to stick out as very unique. Wasn't too hot on the villains before but man they've got me hooked now |
after watching the ep with subs I found something weird.
During the audition, Seine got literally memories from the daughter she was made after (the birthday memory). And she literally said "Papa, let's meet again in Heaven" like it was the deceased daughter speaking from the afterlife (damn that's creepy somehow). I wonder if there is a twist and Humagears are actually robots infused with deceased memories, or have access/can link to deceased persons (or maybe they're not deceased ?). Seems quite complicated I admit but I don't know how to take this scene. Maybe that's why Aruto's Humagear substitution dad reacted so quickly in saving Aruto during the explosion, maybe his real dad was reacting through the robot. |

Cant help to see lonely guy or gal rely on Ai system build x toy slaves for guilty pleasure giving this episode tackle the daughter father relationship, but it can get creepy and with implication.an

Alright, I think we should all stop using the term "filler" when it comes to this show, because it seems pretty obvious to me that it's an episodic show, not a serial one. Most of the episodes are going to be stand alone.
Which is fine because this is episodic done right. The writers have really thought through some of the implications of this technology and every episode seems to explore a new one. It's really well thought out and I am really enjoying this. Also this episode did make the villains way more interesting. |

Also regarding the fact that Seina mimicks the deceased daughter, I think it's because there is enough data to reconstruct the daughter's voice patterns and usual behaviours. What's more disturbing is the fact that Seina doesn't actually try to fight the metsubojinrai.net's infestation, unlike Anna. |

Every enemies in the series so far is a Magear. The foot soldiers are called Trilobite Magear, and they are subjected to full download and overwrite too, hence their changed appearances and weapon spawns. The only difference is that the one who becomes main magears are the ones exhibiting signs of becoming sentience, happy with their services to humanity (Taro, Burs, Scissormanz)

Lightning Hornet is seriously just so much cooler than Rushing Cheetah.
They did a pretty good job for a little bit there of getting me to feel bad for Jin... Until reminding us he's still a crazy kid with a gun. Needs a bit more working on, that one. Had a feeling he wasn't human and glad to see it confirmed too. |
Reviews for this ep and RyuSoulger here: https://youtu.be/1Qc62VF8D54
In summary, this was a good episode. Jin's debut was solid. Lightning Hornet is cool. Although I think Jin's development and the truth about Aruto's "father" were rushed IMO. And Lightning Hornet's debut would've been a lot stronger if Yua was actually more involved in the plot of this week's episode. But overall, i like this week's episode. |
Okay, first things first: Lightning Hornet is pretty freaking badass. Digging both the suit itself and the way it works in combat. We haven't gotten a lot of Valkyrie so far, but I'm really enjoying her when she show up.
Second, I really like how the show has been dealing with the ethics of HumaGears in these last couple episodes. It's not perfect - I think last week's episode misfired by focusing more on the "oh, poor artist, you've lost your passion" rather than "you're literally working your robots to death, you scumbag" - but it's neat to see them tackling some of the issues that would come with fully humanoid AIs. The whole concept of a co-opted likeness and using the HumaGear to replace a dead loved one is definitely an interesting storyline to tackle. If there's any part of the episode that didn't work for me it's Jin's family angst. The whole parent/child confusion was an interesting place to take the character, but we don't know enough about Jin, Horobi, or their interpersonal dynamic yet to really make it work. I would have held off on going in this direction for awhile, I think. Still, I'm guessing we're seeing the show planting seeds for Jin doing a faceturn at some point. |

Lightning Hornet was great and I really liked her Rider Kick.
|
I still really curious about Aruto's real father. What happened to Aruto's real father? I have feeling his real father are have some conflicts with Aruto's grandfather and maybe Aruto's real father will be become main villain in this series..
|
Another stellar episode. This must be one of the strongest starts to a Rider show in recent memory. Just consistently really good.
It's really interesting for them to delve into the ethics of the Humagear industry, and how basing one's likeness off an existing person is illegal without consent. It makes a ton of sense and helps make the world feel more realistic and lived-in. And of course, we get an emotional plot about someone breaking that law to relive their moments with their deceased daughter - for Jin, this makes him realize what it means to have family, and for Aruto, he can relate because he had something similar done with his late father. Jin really showed layers to his character. He was conflicted by what he saw by Seine and her "father" and what Horobi told him about being family. In the end, he tried to save Seine but was reset by his own father figure. This shows a lot more complexity to his character than we initially expected. And Kamen Rider Jin looks great, with a visually-pleasing transformation to boot. His wings look great but it was a bummer that we didn't get to see his finisher this time around. Lots of great action, from the brief bike chase to a good use of forms. Fuwa's backflip transformation was epic. And Valkyrie's Lightning Hornet debut was definitely the highlight of the episode. The form looks so sleek and gorgeous, and the VFX used for the wings and Rider kick looked really good. Very cool form, but I am kind of disappointed that Yua didn't really do much in this episode aside from showcasing the form. Izu showed a ton of inflection in her voice and smiled during the last "Aruto ja nai to!" She's heading towards singularity soon. Next week, Jin vs Valkyrie and Freezing Bear's debut! |
oh yes, thanks for reminding about the bike chase.
It's nice to finally be seeing more motorcycle action in this series. Not enough Riders seem to use their motorcycles. That's one thing I liked about the Showa Riders was lots of motorcycle action. For me a Kamen Rider and a motorcycle are just supposed to go together. ( I still plan on watching Drive though. ) |
Yeah, I love a lot of Heisei Phase 2s; but I really, really don't like how little a lot of them use their motorcycles. At least with Drive and Ex-Aid they were going for something a little different with their 'Rider Machines', and Drive in particular used the Tridoron more and had it be more prominent than most other Rider Machines I can think of. But then you've got stuff like Zi-O and Gaim where I'm just, like... c'mon.
It was a really nice surprise watching Kuuga and Agito, I gotta say. Godai just never got off his bike. ... so yeah, if Zero One can keep this up; I'll be pretty happy. |
then you have Accel in 'W' who literally turns into a bike. hahaha
Kuuga had some seriously great bike scenes. The one where he chased the guy through the abandoned hospital and is riding up the staircase and everything? Really cool. I watched that scene a couple times I liked it so much. Seriously fantastic motorcycle (er,.. dirtbike) skills were on display. the motorcycle fight in The First movie is really fantastic as well. For me a Kamen Rider and his motorcycle is like Batman and the Batmobile, you just can't have one and not the other. |
I'd disagree only in that I feel the bike is -more- important to a Rider than a Batmobile. Maybe it's just the particular stuff I grew up on but I never thought of the Batmobile as terribly important to Batman and it was kinda messing with his theme a bit. But a Rider's bike? It's literally in the name!
I can again excuse it easily for stuff like Drive or Ex-Aid where they're deliberately going for something different, but a lot recently it's just felt like "alright, we got the bike out of the way, let's move on". Just a pre-requisite that no-one wants to bother with, which is a shame. I swear Gaim used Ichigo Arms more than his bike. |

Jin is Parado 2.0, but even more sympathetic from this early on. You can tell there's hints of him going to turn good in the future.
Holy damn Lightning Hornet is beautiful, considering that this will be Valkyrie's only alternate form for the time being I'd expect her to use it often. Also, I'm noticing that ever since Fuwa and Yua knew Aruto is Zero-One it kinda feels odd that they never treat him like either ally or rival, especially Fuwa. The two are set up to clash, yet till now Fuwa doesn't consider him as an enemy but never really outright considers him as an ally as well, it even translates into the action scenes where the two are fighting the same enemy, but not together. |
I would partly agree that Jin is a bit of Parado, but Parado's dynamic was that his desire was to beat and best Emu. Jin is more to me like Chase, a mechanization that is slowly coming to terms with human concepts.
This episode while packed with various action and elements was also a real argument for ethics. It's not so far fetched that when we reach the singularity of AI and robotics we would institute the same laws to prevent someone from recreating a deceased individual. It would cause a moral and ethical dilemma in real society. I felt a real emotional pull from the father trying to grieve for his daughter, unable to let go. It really does give some Ghost In The Shell vibes that the daughters videos became part of the Humagear's actual personality. (it was her videos because of the perspective of her in the memory versus if it were her memories, it would be from her view perspective). But the Humagear actually took that and extrapolated it into her persona. I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed actual use of a motorcycle in a Kamen Rider series. Build had some good sequences, and Zero-One capitalizes on it. I also really like the bike design. It's less gaudy than Build's and less wacky than Zi-O. The use of it was well timed. Jin's transformation and suit are again a real treat. I love the elements that keep the suits simple, but at the same time give them function. Lightning Hornet is in my top five list of favorite suits from this series so far, right behind Zero-One's main and Flaming Tiger. |
The Henshins in this series have been very creative. And there's a lot of acrobatic flips and somersaults this season.
...and my inner Showa fan is still in love with the fact we finally have a Grasshopper again. |
I'd say I like how creative the henshins have been too, but there's certainly been no shortage of it in recent years. Ex-Aid's video game areas; Build's snap building; Grease's vat; Cross-Z Magma's bucket of magma and dragons...
Zero-One, really, is just keeping up a VERY good trend :D |

Fuwa would punch a bullet for Wolf and he would backhand the bullet for Kong (but it wasn't shown again so we wouldn't know) Yua however remained the same throughout both forms. |
So I kind of just realised something. Despite the small connection between this episode and the last... Zero One hasn't had any strict 2-parters so far. Every episode has been a self-contained story.
I didn't wanna jump the gun at the first two episodes because, well, first two episodes; but it looks like we're finally breaking that mold, and I for one am all too happy to see that happen. The 2-part structure isn't inherently bad or anything, but in the entire Heisei era we've only had... what, Gaim, Build and Ryuki eschew that structure? So I'm very happy with this. |
