KyuRanger Episode 22- "The Legendary Savior's True Self!" Discussion
The legendary warrior Tsurugi Ohtori has been awakened from his slumber aboard the Argo. Now he has announced that the other KyuRangers are no longer necessary!
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 5:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |
Ohtori praise himself too much and it kind of reminds me of Tendou. Also, beet buster/magiyellow appears again in the ending music video,

I'm guessing there will be one episode Ohtori will get beat down and finally realizes he is not the strongest anymore.
Heck I wish he is stronger than Shishi Orion...or he gets a new form to rival that. xD |
I kinda liked this episode. Houou Soldier's cool for the most part and we're getting some extra plot hints
|
Houou/Ohtori is what Captain Marvelous would be without the humility. Instead of being someone clueless with all the power, he's got a full agenda and all the back history but won't reveal it.
Gigant Pheonix is possibly though one of my favorite mecha designs. It works perfect for someone who was an astronaut. |
That scene with Tsurugi and Raptor was just way too weird.

He should however be working for CinemaSins for his overstatement of the obvious. "A really lucky guy, a kid, a robot, and a chef all think they can save the world?" It's like he's never seen a Sentai before. |
This was a nice episode. It served its purpose well in terms of warming me up to Tsurugi, even if I'm still quite grumpy he's stolen Geki Violet's catchphrase. I'm glad they're getting at least a little mileage out of the friction he has with the team, though we'll see how long that lasts. There was some good Plot stuff here and I like the slight ambiguity left to his backstory even now that he's told it. He's also got one heck of a robot! That whole sequence was one of those times where Sentai basically grinds to a halt to sell toys, but in the best way possible. I just hope they never need to launch that thing in a hurry. It's not the most efficient system.
And teasing Hiroya Matsumoto in the new ending is just cruel. :lol It's seriously shocking we're this far in and there hasn't even been like, a real scene with him, let alone a whole episode. |
I was surprised by the second mecha finisher. Take out the bad guy by splitting the robot, then recombining with the monster smashed in the middle? That is both strange and awesome at the same time. Almost felt bad for the bad guy.

Ore-sama blabla densetsu blablabla. And suddenly the show remembers its only real threat is a giant hologram again, and we get the classic "4 generals" menu.
The Argos transformation from a boat to an assortment of various things was weird. |
