This was a good episode IMO. I appreciate that there's a "natural" reason to why the monsters of the week become giants and it fits well with the Druidon's plans. It's not just some second chance/last resort transformation. I was worried Ui's comedy was gonna be too much like the first episode but it wasn't. Nice and simple. The overall initial teamwork with the three RyuSoulgers was pretty good so far. While it was slightly more focused on Koh, Melt and Asuna actually had time to develop (we learn more about Melt's personality) and contributed to the episode a bit more than the first episode. The KishiRyuOh mech fight was really good. The stunts and the camera work do a great job of selling the fight, same with the RyuSoulger fights. I will say that explaining the RyuSoul and Druidon Tribes history again was kinda unnecessary overall (it's used as a means for Ui to learn about it and take them to her father's place). We already know this and the RyuSoulger already know this. But overall, I enjoyed this episode. Another good episode for RyuSoulger. |
Geez, the pace has not let up. There are moments of greatness in this episode, as was the case with the pilot, but it goes by so fast that it does not reach its desired effect. An interesting thing happens but is quickly glossed over for the next sporadic plot-point. It makes me dizzy.
That being said, I like how the Minosaur's are powered by an individual's negative energy, which causes the monster to grow. Meaning we'll have monster's starting off at various sizes and a good in-story reason for there to be ground fights and Robo fights against the same monster. Targeting an individual and dealing with their own sideplot feels reminiscent of phase 2 Heisei Kamen Rider as well. Robot fight was amazing again. Very dynamic, extremely impressive practical effects and Tyramigo and KishiryOh move so fluidly. I'm excited to see Banba and Towa again next week! |
It's been a while since they're recurring civilian allies since zyuoh or gosei that are comedy relief unaware of motw. Also, emotion again. Hope they won't do bait and switch possession like blood stark and misora's relationship with uui.

Based on the preview green and black seems a little too full of them selves thinking the other three to be beneath them. Really does remind me of the Gouraigers.
The first 2 episodes were mech fight heavy I think. Probably showing how mobile the mech fights are gonna be. And the man in the mask, will he be tied story wise to green and black or the whole team I wonder. |
The plot is average and almost fillery, but dammit the mech battle is impressive! The Red mecha is back to multiple forms and gimmicks making it an interesting toy to get and not a brick you attach limbs to.

I kinda dig this show. The dynamic of it is just great. The fight scenes are impressive to watch, and the best thing yet: No more "Beat the monster once then a bad guy shows up to make it big"-crap. That’s one of the Sentai tropes I absolutely loathe. So I’m beyond thrilled to see that Minosaurs can grow big on their own. Also, the character from the weekly story being a host and his problems feeding the Minosaur reminds me very much of something Kamen Rider would do, I like that.
The only thing I don’t quite like still is Kou’s actor being forced into the hyperactive Red role. He so doesn’t look the part; I really wish they gave the childish attitude to the Blue ranger and have Kou be a bit more restrained and serious. He can still be fun and gentle, but let someone else be the screaming idiot from time to time please. |
something the show is doing, that it definitely should be, is feeling different. the things like the minusaurs overall goal being to turn giant, focus on characters of the week that tie into the monsters, and the general dynamic of green and black by the looks of things, and the mecha dynamic definitely show that the new writer is messing with the formula, which is a good thing
hopefully the show can get a good plot. obviously we can't hold it against the show for not having a great second episode plot, my main worry at this point is the villains. the guys we have so far are fine but i'm worried the lack of a main leader is pointing towards a deboss-style final boss |
