CSM Sengoku Driver and More!
Sorry this is just a placeholder for Saturday (Sunday in Japan). Get ready, lots to talk about!
|
I'm super hyped, but there are many people online who are balking the high price. I kind of agree? But I do think that they made enough changes and additions including the die-cast, bgm, actor voices, new modes, new henshin noises and even adding a de-henshin feature, something I've always wanted in the original.
Not sure I'm getting the Mass-Produced Driver though... Kinda annoyed that that one's a separate release and the default set doesn't include the blank faceplate. It's also frustrating that they're releasing Bravo and Gridon before all the others just to tie in to the new Gaiden. Give us the main four first! At least we can take solace in the fact that we're finally getting the Zangetsu Kachidoki Lockseed... |
I am ecstatic. It has noises for Bujin Gaim and the other lame movie Riders! I should not be excited by that but I am. I love Bujin Gaim.
One of the slots listed just said "No image", what is that? Pre-ordering when the Bluefin releases go up. |
Is there a promo video? Cant seem to find one.
As much as I love Gaim (bought all the main rider figuarts and was my entry to kamen rider) Im not sure I can justify the price but I do want to see a demo of it to get a better idea |
So is there like a difference between the mass-produced Driver and the original one aside from the belt? I don't see much difference.

Well, got my pre-order in at Tokullectibles. The Premium Bandai Japan site is really slow right now, these CSMs must be selling like crazy with such high site traffic.
|
Gonna put my preorder in at Tokullectibles soon too.

And I love it when both of them are fidgeting with the lever like it is a kitchen knife. :lolol |

The idea with the Project Ark Edition is that it's for people who don't want Kouta's stuff, they buy the driver and the Lockseed set for the Rider they want, which even togetehr is less expensive than the regular version. It's also for people that want multiple Drivers so that they can display multiple Rider forms together, without having to buy the expensive set all over again. |
Amazing stuff. Seeing the actors back again advertising the belt and Lockseeds is so heartwarming.
The project is definitely awesome but I'm not comfortable with spending 400 bucks on a belt with a subsequent 100+ for every Lockseed set. All the power to the people who are, this is some great stuff but I'm content with watching it happening from afar. |
I want to get this, but I can't at the moment. The only thing is when this releases I'd probably have enough for it, but I hope they make enough of them, since I'm afraid it'll sell out fast since Gaim is popular.
|
I swear that at this point the absurd amount of money people are throwing at Bandai for the CSM might be enough to fund research to create an actual functional Sengoku Driver.

Anyway, I will never ever get my hands on something like this, but I'm very satisfied to know it has a button to play the best default fight BGM in Rider history: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6KCTNx5dMU I mean, that's basically worth the 35,000 yen on its own, right? :p |
The CSM Sengoku Driver pre-order has sold out at pBandai. It took less than 2 hours.
I was able to confirm that North American stock, which was allocated prior to the start of pre-orders, is *NOT* impacted by the sell-out. Also - was told if you see something you want now, get it now, because you might need it/want it later. EDIT: Re-opened orders. |
Ordered off Tokullectibles. Would have rather done it at GameStop, but I'd rather do this than risk missing stuff.

I've been taking a look through the Hellheim Forest site & pretty much blown away by the amount of stuff they're planning to release! Blood Orange, Fifteen, and Darkness have all cropped up, so I'm assuming there'll be a "Dark Rider" set down the line with all of those in & maybe more (the new rider for the gaiden looks to be using a Hellheim fruit lockseed which they could probably toss in with other dark riders).
Also of interest is that the Kureshima set will include Yomotsuheguri, Proto-Watermelon, and even Kiwi! I'm really curious now how the overall CSM lineup will look, since Kiwi implies that Ichigo, Pine, Suika, and Mango will see release too somehow... It seems like they've been holding off on energy lockseeds till the inevitable Genesis Driver, but I'm curious as to whether Marron will end up in the Team Baron set, which would otherwise probably not have much in (Banana, Kurumi, maybe Mango... I presume they'll save Lemon for Duke). Curious too what they'll do with Kurokage, as he's not ended up paired with Jonouchi and it would feel odd to bundle him into the Baron set. |
We know Mango is with the Baron set, and I found Ichigo, Pine, and Suika in the forest, so I assume a secondary Gaim set TBH.
|
People are really willing to lay down an insane amount of money for all of three lockseeds, huh?
|
Well... the sound that just one of those Lockseeds contain is at least a match for two or three regular GaiaMemories, I guess.
Though I think anybody who spends more than a hundred dollars to merch to begin with is beyond my level... |
They sure do contain three slightly different finishers.
|
Has anyone found the Energy Lockeeeds in the Helheim game?
So far, I’ve found... Himawari Matsubokkuri Kurumi Donguri Melon Pine Ichigo Orange Blood Orange Black Orange Banana Budou Suika Watermelon Mango Durian King Durian Kiwi Lychee Lemon Forbidden Ringo Golden Ringo Black Ringo Zakuro Yomotsuheguri Helheim Maja Fifteen Kachidoki Shin Kachidoki Kiwami I assume Silver Ringo is probably there somewhere, but I’m not sure about the Energy Lockseeds, or Kabi Orange. |
I'm interested to see how they tackle the Genesis Driver. The gear system they used to slow the retraction of the activation slide was way to noisy and distracting on the DX release. Some people would just take it out of the driver to make it quieter.
|
So many oranges and apples (didn't even remember Black Ringo was a thing) yet the best one, Fresh Orange, remains elusive.
I assume the Energy Lockseeds will be their own special set in the future alongside a Genesis Driver/Sonic Arrow that costs another arm and leg. It's still pretty lousy that Gaim's initial set doesn't come with Lemon Energy though, especially since they do include the adapter! EDIT: What if Pine and Ichigo only come out packaged alongside a CSM Musou Saber and Daidaimaru... |

...not sure whether or not there's an actual alien forest encroaching on the planet you'll need a belt to survive in yet, but you never know! :p Being serious for a second, this is probably as good a time as any to mention I'm still shocked and a little upset there was never a Super Best version of the Sengoku Driver that just included all four main Riders' faceplates and default Lock Seeds back when that brand was a thing? Again, I only spectate these things from a nice, frugal distance, but I basically took it for granted they'd do something like that eventually. Zangetsu's faceplate was one of those campaign items that disappear immediately and I remember hearing back in the day Ryugen's set was never that readily available either. It would've been this really nice treat for Gaim fans new and old, but when the DX Driver did get a reissue recently, they instead subtracted a Rider, and then went on to give us this horrifying glimpse into what CSM is going to be like for the more recent shows with a heavy emphasis on the collectible gimmicks. I am terrified to see what CSM Gashats and Ride Watches will end up looking like one day. |

Gosh, it just occurred to me that Genm is enough of a cash cow on his own that they would get away with some real nonsense. CSM Buggle Driver (it can play Wish in the dark and also Kuroto shouting for thirty seconds straight) with just the Dangerous Zombie Gashat. Proto Mighty Action X in some expensive set with all the proto gashats. Then a 'Shin' set with the Proto-Alpha version and God Maximum Mighty. I think I might be spending too much time thinking about toys and the hypothetical ways to sell them. |

Actually my point with that post is that all of that would basically be a scam but one they'd totally get away with.
Though if other people want and can buy them, I guess I can't really complain since I was never gonna actually afford any of this anyway, even if it was more reasonable. It's not like Rider Figurarts where the increasingly stingy releases sets a pattern for all future releases. CSM selling Lockseeds or Ride Watches or whatever for thousands of dollars doesn't mean that they can do anything ridiculous with things like Agito's belt, which has limited options to begin with. (Right...?) |

and just about anything probably other than the bugvisor ii and the VCinext stuff. |
I bet you they wouldn't include Tokimeki Crisis in a hypothetical CSM Buggle Driver II release :V

Interestingly, there seem to be two categories of lockseed currently. The following URL: https://toy.bandai.co.jp/special/gai...d/img_n_16.png with numbers img_n_01 through n_16 will show you everything that we know the release for so far. In order, there's Orange, Banana, Budou, Melon, Kachidoki, Kiwami, Lychee, Kiwi, King Durian, Mango, Watermelon, Kurumi, Yomotsuheguri, Donguri, Durian, and Shin (Melon) Kachidoki. Meanwhile, all the others which are "coming soon" (i.e. we don't yet know what unrevealed set they'll be released in) have a slightly different URL: https://toy.bandai.co.jp/special/gai...d/img_r_01.png this time using img_n_01 through n_16. In order again, that's Ichigo, Pine, Suika, Lemon, Black Orange, Matsubokkuri, Forbidden Ringo (Taboo), the new Hellheim fruit lockseed, Blood Orange, Zakuro (Messiah), Dark Ringo (Jam), Maja (looks like fifteen but bone-coloured rather than silver), Fifteen, Himewari, Golden, and Silver. As far as I can tell these two groups cover most regular lockseeds! The only absentees I can spot are Fresh Orange & Pine*, Kabi (moldy) Orange from the same stageshow as Maja, any canon Legend Rider lockseeds, and if we want to get really technical the unlabelled versions of Banana and Zakuro that showed up in the Black Baron special. I guess Sid's lock too, but I'd expect that to be with the Energy lockseeds if it shows up at all... I did try using img_e_01 thinking maybe e for energy would do the trick, but no such luck! Presumably they're holding off till the Genesis Driver. *If google translate is to be believed the CSM blog noted that the Fresh seeds might not be part of the lineup due to only ever being non-canon. |

Alright, the CSM Sengoku Driver is now out. So... major differences from the DX release:-
- The driver is done in a cleaner matte finish - Like a billion voice clips activated by the upper left button - The belt itself is of course longer, and there's an optional gray one to replicate the Kurokage Troopers - The lower right button replicates Suika Arms' mode noises - A bonus easter egg 'nutrition replenishment' mode, which does a single minor sound with the Lockseeds The more significant upgrades are with the Lockseeds themselves:- - More accurate to the props, having opaque parts rather than transparent with the same matte finish as the Driver - A much much clearer speaker - The activation noise now includes a zipper sound clip to replicate the Arms appearing in the show - The Kiwami Lockseed is now much more comprehensive, including sounds for every movie and V-cinema weapon such as the Saver Arrow and Ringo Reflector Overall... there’s some neat stuff here, and the difference on the Lockseeds is very notable where you might wanna get a Lockseed set or two for your favourite Riders; but I would genuinely just buy an original DX or 20th re-release with a belt extension. The thing is that since at least Wizard the DX belts have been made to be a LOT more accurate to the show that there's not much a CSM could really do; and unlike Decade, W or OOO where a big draw was a far more comprehensive set of gimmick items and sounds... the Lockseeds have always been electronic with the Driver doing little on its own, so that was never a worry for Gaim and they tended to release every new Lockseed anyway. There’s just very very little new on the Driver itself to justify spending so much on it unless you’re completely obsessed with Gaim. |
Wonder if it does the same thing as the Ark-Zero/One driver where the voice lines play along with the belt to simulate a character transforming.
