You, sir, just blew my mind. I went and checked the spino head - I knew the head itself was more narrow overall, but guess what!? The actual port on the shoulder piece where the head and jaw attach is actually sculpted smaller and more narrow than the t-Rex!!! This makes my life infinitely easier. Now I just need to decide if this warrants buying another spino to use the shoulder (and the rest for a different custom...) or if I can mold and cast the shoulder piece...

It's been a while. Not much progress on further zords, but I have branched out into Custom Spirit Rangers for the other guardian zords (including the zords I've made or plan to make).
The newest one is Dino Charge Cobalt, the partner of the Archelon zord. He grew up in a community of fishermen, hearing from tales of a giant guardian sea turtle. He bonded with the Cobalt Energem during a typhoon that struck his island village. I used the Walgreens shiny blue ranger, sliced off the stegosaurus plates and used the last 2 plates to make the fins on the side of the helmet. So unlike Plesio and Futaba rangers, he's got a full set of 4 fins. Are you doing anything with Ninja Steel? Just wondering, I love your work!
|
Thank you! That's a very good question. The only thing I can think of is making a female green ranger, or perhaps rangers for the other auxiliary zord.
At the moment, I have such a long list of Dino charge ideas in progress or being planned, that it may be a while before I did anything Ninja Steel related. Plus I love dinosaurs much more than ninjas :) Come to think of it, one thing thing I would absolutely love to do is to make a American version of the Dragon mode helmet/hat, using my ninninger shuriken as a base and mold/mod it to fit the American version and figure out how to make it clip on the American dragon's head |
Dude....That's amazing.

It’s been a while since I posted here, but I’m back with good news!
After 5 years of off and on work (the frill was so darn frustrating with molding/enlarging), the Styracosaurus zord is done! https://scontent-mia3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...3d&oe=5B73D16B https://scontent-mia3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...58&oe=5B4FF70F Tail heart weapon detail. Also note that I removed the butt horns. https://scontent-mia3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...3e&oe=5B52A541 More pictures on my Facebook page |
Diplodocus Megazord!
Finally finished my DX Dino Charge Diplodocus Megazord, based on the official Titano Megazord, new accessory parts to remove/disguise the other guardian Dino’s and head enlarged from the Bandai of America minizord.

Wow, that’s great. What color did you end up using for the main body? It looks black, but at the same time like a very dark blue or purple.
|
It was Kryolan Colormaster Royal Blue. I purposely wanted something with a little purple in it because the color for the charger, zyudenchi, logo Dino, and mini zord are all a little different in terms of blue/purple ratio.
The black is more from my poor photo lighting, trying to take the pictures last night when I finished... I need to set up a little photo studio or something. I will say that I probably won't be using this type of paint again - it did NOT like the plastic of the custom pieces, especially not adhering well to the hard edges of the sculpt. Finding a good plastic primer might have helped. |
