The Hiden/ZAIA contest enters its final phase. The challenge is politics- to decide whether or not a city for HumaGears can be created!

Curious as to why Horobi defended Vulcan. I think he said something like: "The Ark said so."
|
|
I foresee people hating on this episode badly.
|
So, I speed watched the thing...Because no subs, and I couldn't wait x).
I have a few things that bother me, with Episode 27 first and with that one. Episode 27 : The ending was bull, I mean, it's our favorite wolf that got the evidence and Aruto just...did nothing to stop Gai from just destroying the evidence, that's just crap. Episode 28 : So...uh...from the little stuff I watched, basically the Humagears are being rejected and Aruto is being bullied? Our Mole was Fuwa all along, oh my...some people are gonna hate that... Well, I think I'll wait for the subs to watch it fully and to understand all of what's going on in this episode. I think I'm going to have an opinion after this contest arc is over, and for the moment, it's not particularly a good one...x) |
Valkyrie's Raider form legitimately just looks like another Rider upgrade in a lot of ways. The design motif is still present. Makes you wonder why they didn't just have it be a new form, but this works well enough for story purposes.
Otherwise, great episode. Huge revelations about Fuwa and Metsuboujinrai and the job battle this time actually revolves around the major conflict between supporting Humagears or renouncing them. The MC Humagear wasn't as grating as I thought he'd be (cause Japan can lack subtlety) and Izu had some cute moments. Main highlight this time was Horobi kicking Thouser's ass in base form. I mean technically he's never lost a fight so it makes sense. Dude's a powerhouse. Shit seems to be getting super real with the next episode and Fuwa's upgrade into Rampage Vulcan. Really excited to see where this goes. |

Anyway, it's probably because Bandai probably didn't want another Rider form at this point. If they gave her a new form that wasn't part of the main toyline, they'd need to destroy it in one or two episodes, which would be really frustrating to viewers. So, a "monster" suit is better for that role (or can even just hang around and continue appearing in multiple episodes, since that doesn't seem to be an issue for monster suits). |
i feel like this arc is poorly written because it's not exciting at all, everything is about lifestyle stuff instead of just fighting for the buyout like a battle royale similar to build that was more exciting than this, i get that it's humagears vs humans but it shouldnt be a competitation, it should be more like trying to work together while aruto and fuwa are fighting gai, i mean there's nothing about why yua is still with zaia, we finally find out fuwa is that should have been addressed a long time ago.
everything is just so slow and not exciting. i get that the writers are trying to cater to bandai's toy scheduling but it could be so much better than this. i dont hate zero-one, i just feel it could have been better. |
still waiting for the Over-Time sub to drop.
but... I'm really not liking the contest arc at all. I think it's terrible, lazy and boring. I've never had a Kamen Rider where I liked the costume and fight scenes so much but disliked the actors and story so much. Thouser is not interesting, Aruto is incredibly irritating (and falls for the same exact JackRise over and over) Izu is a saving grace. She's an adorable robot. I've been finding the Rider series pretty disappointing after Build (which was fantastic). ...still looking forward to Over-Time releasing the latest episode. **sigh** |
I just realized Gai is a fucking troll. No matter what you do he wont go down and he gets away with what ever he says and does.
So I am dropping watching the subs at least till this shit changes because fuck does it feel like I am wasting my time with this arc. |

Well the subs are out and so are my two cents on the episode.
The answer to any “can Aruto pull a victory from this?” queries is the same as Bart Simpson got when he asked a magic 8 ball “Will Milhouse and I be friends by the end of the day?” |
The cringy rapper HumaGear was one thing, but to be the one who royally screwed things up, way to go Aruto.
|
Best parts of the episode are easily the humagear-style pokerap, and Horobi beating on Thouser.
|
Though honestly I can't really blame ZAIA for this one. Aruto completely flubbed his chance to turn those corrupt politicians to the authorities the first time, and his chosen humagear went berserk with barely any help from anybody else.
Also this is the fourth time in a row where Fuwa transforms just to get curb stomped, and the third time overall at Thouser's hand. Assault Wolf has really come to embody it's scrapped-together, barely functioning aesthetic... |
Good thing Rampge Gattling will be his new form. At this point he NEEDS that upgrade
|
Was Jin offering the new belt to Fuwa or was Jin getting ready to transform?
Feels like the former. |

Oh geez, now he's just straight up publicly advocating for a violent vigilante uprising using the weapons he sells... I'm not going to try doing a particularly full review of this one. I kind of have a lot to say, but I'm getting the feeling half of it would be banging on about the same things I already have on like three separate occasions already. These setup episodes of Zero-One keep catching me in a bad mood, so it's probably better to just wait for next week and actually have a complete plot to talk about. For now, have some quick, largely neutral bullet points: - Fuwa is a Showa Rider! No wonder I love him so much! This really rubs in what a shame it is we don't get Net Movies anymore, because that would be the perfect venue for a parody recreation of Hongou strapped to an operating table, which is something I need to see now. Just imagine the ridiculous faces Fuwa's actor could make struggling against the chains! "Once we complete the brainwashing, you will become a loyal member of MetsubouJinrai.net." "Shut up! I make my own rules!" *Gorilla noises*. - Speaking of my favorite Riders in the show, it's good to know Horobi studied at the Char Aznable school of fighting opponents with superior technology. Remember kids, it doesn't matter how powerful their weapons are if you don't get hit! Let that be a lesson to anyone still obsessing over "power levels" or whatever. - Man, it must been real embarrassing for Aruto to have his HumaGear ambassador flip out and start raving about how humanity deserves to go extinct on live television. Like, I don't think it's possible for that to have gone any more completely backwards than it did? It's almost sort of impressive. |
Honestly, as much as I think that Gai is an interesting character, I don't really think he's an ENTERTAINING character. Like, Evolt was an interesting and entertaining character, but even he had to deal with a few hiccups in his plans. Same with Kuroto Dan. Gai... does not. In fact, if anything, his plans go off without a hitch at all. And he kinda lacks the charisma and charm that Evolt and Kuroto had to support them.
Like even with stuff like MCH or the Progrise Hopper Blade coming up, they really don't impact his plans like, at all. And the fact that other characters don't react appropriately or logically do things like Izu filming and recording Gai don't help at all. If anything, they make it feel like his inevitable victory unearned. And like stated before, his lack of charisma and charm just makes him kinda boring to watch. At this point, I'm just waiting for the also-inevitable episode where everything goes to shit for Gai after absorbing Hiden into ZAIA, and Aruto and the Humagears finally get a real victory for a change. |
Yeah, everything went sideways with Gai and ZAIA. This forced ideology war is not executed nicely. We have been seeing humans with ZAIA specs are all crooked, Gai is doing all the evil tricks possible to maintain his position, and Aruto is just TOO STUPID to lead anything. As for the first Kamen Rider series in Reiwa era, it got blotched by Gai.
And we still don't know the main evil guy yet at this point. |

...well,... that actually about summed up the contest arc, actually. |

Am I the only person on the boards who doesn't seem to hate Zero One with a passion right now? Like, sure, it's not the best series ever, bt it's still decently entertaining, more than much else I have in my life. Maybe it's because I watched the trial across a weekend, rather than 3 months, but I was expecting to be much more disappointed than I was. Especially this week, where we have:
* Fuwa getting some development for the first time in ages! * The return of Horobi * Rapping Humagear aka the best Humagear * Thouser telling us we live in a society Like, I acceot Gai's a smug ass who deserves the biggest rider kick you've ever seen, and Aruto is naive (almost like that's the point, given he's not exactly experienced at being a CEO of anything, but I digress), but if that alone is enugh to break the show for you, maybe just stop watching and come back when the arc is over? This must be how FishSandwich feelsl ike with Ghost. Defending an obviously flawed series because who else is gonna do it? |

Right now, I think it's more of a late-Build situation. We've seen this show do better and we're all trying to grasp why we aren't feeling that same excitement anymore. For what it's worth, I've been trying my best to do the usual blind optimism thing, but for some reason it's more of a struggle than usual. |
Just watched the episode. The competition being a debate brings back flashbacks of me in a debate competition and attempted suicide afterwards.
Sometimes I wonder why didn't I just go through with it. |
The comparison to Ghost is funny, just like I could never understand why some still like Ghost I now don’t understand the people who hate on Zero-One’s current arc. In both situations I just don’t get it even after people tried explaining it to me.

This is my last post since I'm not even wanted anywhere either. |

No matter what there's always going to be at least, I mean at the absolute bare minimum, several people who would notice your absence and feel awful without you in their lives. If you truly don't wanna keep going on for yourself (which I would recommend because things can always get better even if it feels like they never will), then do it for them. For those other people who would be hurt. |
