Thought experiment: Who would you have make collectible Power Ranger toys?
So I just got some of the Power Rangers Movie Legacy 6 inch figures and well... I'm not impressed. The Megazord looks awesome but that doesn't excuse the others. Now I could rant all day about what is wrong with the rangers but I thought of a better use for the frustration. So I figured I share it with you. Like the title says above "Who would you have make a collectible Power Rangers toy line?" is the question I had and it got me thinking about who and why. So now I propose this question to you.
Here are some rules to make it a bit more challenging. 1. No Bandai japan it's too easy 2. No direct consumer competition with Bandai America ie Hasbro, Mattel, Playmates, etc we are looking for collectors. 3. Give at least 3 companies/toy lines and explain why. OK now to start us off. starting from least excited to most excited. 3. Diamond Select. I love there Marvel line for both the movies and comics and seeing the rangers done in this style of figures with dynamic stands would be awesome. The only problem is they have never finished a line. They limited most of the movies to 2 or 3 characters from that film. The likelihood we would see a whole team would be well small. 2. NECA. there work on Pacific Rim both Kaiju and Jaeger are awesome. I think a megazord line from them would be great and the rangers would not suffer either. 1. Mezco 1:12 collective. These figures are amazing they are all the detail of threeZero or Sideshow but at both a smaller scale and price these could be just ultimate ranger figures for both show and movie. Ok there is my pipe dream list... I would love to see these I could hope for S.H. Figuarts but wont hold my breath there. Later and look forward some of your ideas for Collectible Power Ranger figures |

Otherwise, Mega Bloks. Yes, they make shitty kiddy sets with lameass minifigs, but you said collectible toys, so I'd want sets/minifigures of Halo/COD/Destiny/AssCreed/TMNT's quality and minifig design. Quote:
Ummmm, did you actually collect the line? Those figures were crap quality, fell apart even in the package, and the early waves lacked detail. I don't want NECA near anything else ever again. |
NECA said on a Twitter a few years ago that they don't have any interest with PR. NECA is good with Alien/Predator and other movie franchises. I do have a bad history with them on their TF2 figures since Pyro had sloppy paint and Solider has hands that can barely fit on him. The Spy figure had a terrible paint job (No wonder why my FYE was selling him for $5 like two months later after he was release).
I guess it would be cool if they SNES color PR figures, but I don't think they would be the best choice for the series. |

Also, I don't know if it would really count as "collectible", but I'd love for Dark Horse's coloring book division to publish some books for Power Rangers. Their books are really high quality. |
I'd love to have Halo's quality for PR with Mega Bloks. That'd be swell~
Unfortunately, I don't follow toy companies themselves, merely brands they happen to pick up, and most of them are tied to either Hasbro or Bandai, so I don't really know who to name. |

As for all the Mega Blocks that is technically Mattel and depending on how Next review for Lego Ideas go we may see a Lego Power Rangers line from Lego. Honestly if had to pick two more companies i'd have is Good Smile Company/ Max Factory for their figma line and Four Horsemen Studios |
Bandai Tamashii Nations.
What? That's not technically Bandai of Japan :p Honestly I don't personally feel there are any other options I'd want. I mean I could say GSC/Max Factory, but why settle for a Figma when I want a Figuart? I guess if no one would do figures I'd just settle for some high quality statues of the movie suits, at least they could get the detail right then. |

Here's a list of all their micro figures, and keep in mind these are barely taller than your average Lego minifig: https://www.megaconstrux.com/en-ca/worlds/halo/figures I don't want Lego to get the PR license, since it'll just be their archaic minifig body with predictably average set design. |
