This entire mess would have been fixed if they just threw away the false two teams narrative, and just made them ONE team.
Instead one team is just being mistreated overall and I do not like that. I still like the show, it has some great scenes, music and overall art direction going for it, but pretty much everyone in the fanbase has commented on the extreme one sided nature of the show and the power ups. I am honestly just waiting for the final mech (( if there even is one, no idea )) to flat out ignore the Pat being used for it at all, that or they will kill them off or permanently retire them by destroying their ability to morph. Because I would not be surprised at this point if either of those things happen. It sours the overall experience I would say, for a lot of people, and I am a team lupin fan, but the flat out mistreatment of the Pats makes me not want to root for the lupins at all anymore, and it honestly saddens me how the show that I overall like makes me not want to recommend it to anyone interested in the franchise anymore. It is already late if they fix the issues, but I suspect they will not do it before the last 5 episodes or never at all at which point it will be far to late, and honestly I think a lot of kids loving the show will get older and end up getting a negative view on the show they used to like when they start spotting this flaws. |

This time though... Before I saw the preview for next time, I was under the false impression that both new vehicles would go to Noel, and that he'd used Victory Striker in his Patren X form. The fact that they were actually clearly designed to go to each red and instead goes to two different thieves AND that the mechs are only used to make Lupin Kaiser... And that's all ignoring that the Lupins have Magnum! It's something people have brought up their gripes about over and over again, but this is actually the first time where I have felt like the distribution of power-ups is seriously hard to ignore. The story will win out in the end, I'm sure, but it's impossible not to feel like the cops are being intentionally ripped off several times over. EDIT: Wait, why were the vehicles already in full-size and just flying through space in the first place? Did Arsene Lupin hide them on a meteor? |
So, let's count this episode's sins, shall we?
1: Wasting a perfectly good idea of "Rangers go to space" on a standard "the mecha gets controlled" plot 2: Zamigo shows up and does nothing, except maybe destroy a Collection Piece? 3: So Noel learns nothing, if anything proving he doesn't trust the Pats one bit, and yet he's rewarded for it. He doesn't change, he doesn't decide that he owes them one because they saved his life. If this was any other sentai, he'd be a lot more willing to work with them, but because they're not called Lupin, he doesn't change. And despite all this, he gets an upgrade with a big Patranger logo on it for his Lupin form. I know Sentai's merchandise driven, I know I shouldn't care so much about a toy commercial... but also, that's godawful writing that ignores half the cast just to promote an unlikeable ass. 4: CGI on the fried chicken missiles at the begginning is a little oof |
No matter how bad lupat is at times, it's still better than than zi-o which is just a step ahead of ghost to me right now. Plus I'll take any screen time of Tsukasa.
