I don't know if it's just me but those Shift Cars sound like they're made of really cheap plastic. It might just be the wheels though.

Calling it. All the emotional faces are forms.
Other than that it looks really good. I like the gimmick, I like the style, but does the belt have to talkso much? |
The belt looks cool. I plan to get mine months from now when the hype dies out a bit. I got Sengoku Driver on birthday on May seeing that belts were much easier to buy. New belts tend to sell out fast on the first week and can sell out quicker afterwards depending how popular the show is.

Looks pretty neat but chances are for me it'll be a relatively easy pass (and would still be even if I were able to afford to keep up with rider merch :lol ). I'm personally a sucker for sounds-out-the-belt (ie double, gaim) style drivers rather than sounds-in, as there just ends up being more opportunities for later expansion- it was such limitations most likely that caused daft things like having no driver in Decade's run even contain the full henshin sound for Diend. (Then again, on the flipside, someone hacked an OOO driver at somepoint and found a plethora of unused sounds...)
Must admit for whatever reason I was assuming the cars would be spring loaded when you spin the back part around, perhaps so it can be done more easily in one hand? Still loving that the belt strap has a seatbelt buckle though, that was literally my first thought when I heard this this year's Rider would be car-themed. |

Impressive piece of technology, just not really a fan of the gimmick or belt. I mean, I love the strap being a seat belt. To me, that's just adorable & awesome at the same time. And the infrared ability is truly to be admired.
But I think this is the first time since Double that we had a belt that really saw no activity. Let's be real here: the Double Driver was pretty close to useless. All you had to do was push the buttons on the bottom of the Gaia Memories for the Henshin to take place. Thankfully the Drive Driver isn't as wasteful as the Double Driver but it still comes up short. Sure the sounds & images are there, but that's it. It's like the belt is just one big stereo with pictures instead being something you need to utilize properly. It also feels like the wristband is the real Henshin Device, not the belt. They could've easily made the wristband into a ToQ Changer-type Henshin Device, but didn't want to to keep things in KR traditional. I think the key portion could also have been something of a collectible, the tire gimmick as well. Just make the "Types" (Speed, Wild, Technique & Fruit) as Keys that come with sets of Tires based on the different "Modes" (Shadow, Flare, Cab, etc) that sit on the front of the belt instead of the screen. Maybe Speed (Key) - Shadow, Flare, & Spike (Tires) with the Drive Driver, Wild (Key) - Mixer, Cab & Monster (Tires) & so on & so forth until all the other Key/Tire sets come out spread across the year. I say Tires because I don't know how the Shift Cars are gonna function with the Trideron & changeable tires that each give different actions to the car seem good, at least to me. I don't wanna make this seem like a bad toy or a bad gimmick, because it's certainly not. It's just not what I would've done is all. |
I think I hear "It's Saturday Night Live~"
