Guys have I ever told you how much I love this show.
Thoughts on the episodes I just watched coming soon. |
Episode 23 "Detective Liu Bei", Episode 24 "The Memory of Fireworks & Epiaode 25 "Dhou Zhou's Revenge"
This show has a habit of pulling wool over your eyes which initially seems to be just an episodic two parter into a major event with repercussions on the show. Xu Shu development was absolutely wonderful. Tying the whole father son issue with her questioning of what is a family after being accepted into Liu Bei family was a stroke of genius on the writer’s part. I do wish there were more episodes to see of Xu SHu and Liu Bei dynamic before this but what we do get is still great. https://i.ibb.co/L6GWBwS/Screenshot-20210604-221948.jpg Speaking of that dynamic, I really like the whole Fire Knight thing going on. It helps that the father was never intentionally malicious and when he found out it was his son he still protected him. https://i.ibb.co/mHWMFN3/Screenshot-20210604-221922.jpg https://i.ibb.co/30LJr0S/Screenshot-20210604-221714.jpgDespite his defeat and losing his dream I do think it is overall a happy ending cause he already got what he wanted from his father's love back and easily gives Lu bei Huang Zhong. I do wish he used Huang Zhong first in his battle against Lu Bu like he did withZhao Yun back then,https://i.ibb.co/FDrR3sX/Screenshot-20210604-221905.jpghttps://i.ibb.co/FHXG91k/Screenshot-20210604-221738.jpgAnd continuing the show's ongoing narrative Dong Zhou returns as Lu Bu and still is the most vicious villain we’ve had on the show. https://i.ibb.co/9hj890M/Screenshot-20210604-221820.jpgSmall complaint is that Cao CAo should;ve been in all of these episodes instead of just the last one simply because of Dong Zhou being here and his MO of finding and defeating Legend Heroes who commit crimes which definitely fits Fire Knight which should be counted as both vandalism and arson technically. What impresses me most about this show is its ever changing status quo. Characters don’t just stick around forever and characters are used when needed and let’s talk about Xu Shu death and the impact this has on Liu Bei as this worse then Gongzan Sun since this actual death and that she was under her direct care the guilt he bears he almost crumbles. We get to see Liu Bei at his absolute strongest and at his weakest in episode 25 defeating Dong Zhou with his rapid form chaning, to beggin and pleading to appeal to both Lu Bu and Cao Cao humanity and his utter defeat. https://i.ibb.co/b5b0zk9/Screenshot-20210604-222016.jpg Also turns out the show has an OP “Fight” by Noble both the opening credits and full song are on the official Youtube channel but isn't included in the actual show which is weird. Also the show also has an ED called "Yes, I'm ready to fight" also by Noble. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL...ARM8_DoHNT1J3l Oh yeah Cao Cao gets to fuse both of his Legend Machines to make a new mech. It's pretty cool. https://i.ibb.co/h854yWn/Screenshot-20210604-222048.jpg |
This three parter was an emotional rollercoaster, good lord.
I also wanna give a quick shout out to how the mere title for episode 23 had me hooked from the getgo. That's how you know you have a great character. But yeah, I can't really think of much else to say other than that this show really knows how to both emotionally lift me up and sucker punch me in all of the right ways. Cao Cao firing right as Lu Bu was about to wake up? Absolute tragedy. God I love this show. |

Nonsense tour never late to the party here! And I do think you sum up these episodes quite nicely about how they evolve past thier intial set up.

Episode 22 "Recruit Zhuge Liang"
These last few episodes have been about squeezing as much angst out of Liu Bei and I’m all for it. Introducing a new powerful Legend Hero Ma Chao with an unstable Hero Piece that goes out of control. https://i.ibb.co/fV31NDC/Screenshot-20210615-175008.jpg Liu Bei has become squarely focused on his training to the point of not caring about the new Legend Hero. A letter is given to him by Xu Shu to team up with Zhuge Liang. https://i.ibb.co/ggwvK7q/Screenshot-...15-175025.jpg] He initially refuses because he blames Liu Bei for Xu Shu’s death only agreeing after reading his letter and with a test for Liu Bei to obtain the Ma Chao piece. The end of the episode reveals that the warlord is Liu Bei’s brother and that his original name is Liu Jin. https://i.ibb.co/y4w103X/Screenshot-20210615-175033.jpg We see how badly Xu Shu’s death affects Liu Bei and even gets more out of Zhuge Liang’s character with how he blames Liu Bei. Also delving into Liu Bei’s backstory is great. Love the progression of the story and I’m excited to learn more about Liu Bei’s life. |
Oh dang that final minute. I did NOT see that coming.
This was another great one. The backstory between Xu Shu and Zhuge Liang was great, Liu Bei's' character progression continues to be wonderful... it was just a great stepping stone for the show all around. |
Yeah, I mean, there aren't exactly a ton of episodes so far I haven't said this about, but I really liked this one. The plot builds quite naturally off of everything that's been going on lately, and it's got a heck of a cliffhanger to boot. Looking forward to seeing where the show is going with that one!
|
Honestly guys the core strength of the show is the characters and how much I want to see thier stories play out.

Episode 27 "Brothers Reunited"
Liu Bei’s original name was Liu Jin and his older brother’s name is Liu Zhang. We learn about his past. Both of them grew up with no parents but were forced to separate after an accident with Li Zhang buying chocolate for his brother. https://i.ibb.co/GV1WHQG/Screenshot-20210618-004612.jpg How afterward he got into boxing and before his huge break he was assaulted and his viewpoint on life being a jungle. Liu Bei decides not to want any secret revealed to his brother; he's a Legend hero not knowing of his true identity. All in a ploy to steal Liu Bei’s hero pieces as well as feeding him bad advice by only training him with one technique. Despite this, it is a genuine moment of two lost brothers bonding despite the malicious intent. When it comes time to fight Liu Zhang reveals himself and in a heart wrenching scene Liu Bei continues fighting the way his brother taught and even wins. Despite this Zhang Jue shows up and with his army attacks both of them. Seeing the two brothers work side by side is honestly amazing. However, both being overwhelmed by the mooks and Ma Chao being uncontrollable, Zhuge Liege shows up, and Liu Bei begs him to form a contract with Liu Zhang to finally let him control Ma Chao which he refuses. So Liu Zhang takes his changer and breaks it himself and gives Liu Bei Ma Chao to finally have Zhuge Liang join him. Before he forgets his memories he tells him to find him once this is all over. Easily wiping the floor a new giant mech is created by Zhang Ju and a new Legend machine is born Legend King Majesty however he can’t control it for long. https://i.ibb.co/zs17WKW/Screenshot-20210618-004959.jpg https://i.ibb.co/5cLHZYR/Screenshot-20210618-004627.jpg In the end, Liu Zhang leaves town but not before giving Liu Bei the chocolate he always wanted. Honestly, the only problem I have with this episode is that Liu Zhang leaves which is also kind of a problem overall with the show. Certain characters leave too early. Man how good is as to how when my only complaint is that I want to see more of these characters |
Okay, so episode 6 is still my favorite singular episode of this show.
But episodes 26 and 27 are BY FAR my favorite two-parter so far! MAN what a ride these two episodes were! Liu Bei's' desire for kinship comes full circle and it fully explained, Liu Zhang is a really likable guy with a great backstory that perfectly contrasts Liu Bei's', both episodes had great comedic moments to balance out the drama, the fights are good and fun to watch, the mooks get their own megazord, and a awesome new megazord combination comes out of Zhuge Liang joining the team! These two episodes have basically everything! And maybe it's just my own personal headcanon, but I feel like, despite Liu Zhang claiming to have trained Liu Bei wrong to deceive him, feel like Liu Zhang wanted his brother to stop him all along, after seeing the life his brother was leading. Just... man, these were a fantastic set. No idea how the show's gonna be able to top this for me. |
I feel ya I also agree with that headcanon in due thanks to how the actor plays up both his inner hurt as well as relief once Liu Bei actually did stopped him.
The show has been absoultely amazing with great characters and stories to back it up. |
Episode 28 "Matchless Zhuge Liang
Much like episode 22 this is a one-off episode mostly used as a way to show the inner workings and failings of the new dynamic of Liu Bei the Hero pieces and Zhuge Liang. Having much more strict standards in comparison to Xu Shu. His training is to prove how draining carrying 5 pieces is for Liu Bei giving him an ultimatum of putting away 4 of the pieces only using 1 for battle. Naturally, Liu Bei refuses to do any of this and an off-hand sarcastic mention of running 200 times and Liu Bei does exactly that to raise his power. On the flip side there Cao Cao and this episode finally have his first real loss and it’s against Liu Bei the person he dimmed as the weakest. How will their character dynamic shift go forward? Will he still clings to the image of a weak naive Liu Bei or will he be forced to take him more seriously? At the end of the day, Zhuge Liang feels like he understood Xu Shu and Liu Bei better and it seems like Liu Bei has finally begun to let go of his guilt. Also is it just me or does this new Magic Bracelet remind anybody of the Strium Bracelet from Ultraman Ginga S? https://i.ibb.co/GcdX37h/Screenshot-20210619-002426.jpg https://m-78.jp/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/ginga-0.jpg |
I feel like this episode was a great showcase of what Angels and Legend Heroes can do together. It's ideas like these that make me appreciate how innovative some shows can be.
You got Sima Yi creating copies of Cao Cao's tonfa gunblade, Zhuge Liang binding Cao Cao and casting a diamond body spell on Liu Bei, tornados, lightning, etc. Cao Cao does the smart thing and actually hurts the support party member! It all ends with the Magic Brace powerup letting Liu Bei create whatever magic he needs to win and it's awesome. This episode is just awesome. Battles are only going to get more epic from here on out, lemme tell you. |

I was glad to see the show hadn't forgotten about its early episode that warned about Liu Bei spreading himself too thin. Five Hero Pieces is definitely alot more to manage than Two! Also, the green highlights on Zhuge Liang to match Liu Bei? Very nice.

Episode 29 " A Spy from Gangdong"
What I liked about this episode was seeing how kind of petty and vain Zhou is. Up till now seen as cool and collected, her getting heated and peeved by Zhuge Liang is such a unique thing for the show to do. This further complicates the relationship of Liu Bei and Sun Ce with Zhou messing things up and his sister falling in love with Liu Bei. I’m excited about the prospect of the two dojos working together. What kind of stories can well tell and how will shenanigans revolving around these 5 characters go? I’m so glad they’re holding back on Legend King Majesty since Liu Bei still hasn’t achieved enough Hero power to be fully used without a time limit. It is such a nice build-up towards a power-up while also allowing other charters a chance to hold on their own for now. |
Episode 30 "Butterfly Return"
Hey, the 100th post wished I had something to commemorate this but I guess all of these rapid fire reviews should be something I guess. The episode surprises me with the fact that Liu Bei wasn’t in it at all. Has this ever happened in Toku before? Lina returns or should I say Yuan Shao having somehow still had her memories intact and new powers. https://i.ibb.co/3f3kwyB/Screenshot-20210619-230339.jpg One critique I have is I do wish her scars were more severe. I understand the show doesn’t have a high budget but it does kind of break suspension of disbelief a bit. I love the parallels between Sun Ce and Cao Cao in this episode especially since this is the 1st time these two really interacted. In both cases getting mixed up this new case, having both their angels leave at the start of the episode to gain new powers. Though we only get to see Sima Yi at the very end with the new Magic Finder. https://i.ibb.co/jrQsdnc/Screenshot-20210619-230349.jpg |
Gross, Sun Ce.
That aside, I felt episode 29 was only okay. Like, yeah, it's clear that's meant to be a more light-hearted one to prep us for the eventual drama ahead, but it really does feel like a retread of the last time him and Liu Bei fought. Episode 30 also seems to cement that Sun Ce getting deceived is going to be a running trend. Still, it does set up a nice air of mystery, and the fight between him and Cao Cao was really cool. |
Been slowly but surely catching up to the thread, so without further ado:

(This one was also a bit of a learning experience for me, as looking up the whole "Five Tiger Generals" thing afterwards made me realize I could've guessed which Hero Pieces Liu Bei would end up with WAY earlier if I weren't so ignorant. Tokusatsu is surprisingly educational sometimes! I feel like this show has to be extra fun for the people who know this material going in.) Quote:

That said, I have been pleasantly surprised with just how many twists on the story that Legend Heroes has taken so far! I'll wait until we're at the end to get into specifics on that front, though. |
Boy I'm totally clueless about the Romance of The Three Kingdoms lol. But the show mythology feels very thought out and well executed. Makes me want to read the whole thing once this is over.

Letting you know advance going to do the next 3 episodes together.

Episode 31 Butterfly Soar"
Yuan Shao is much like her character flaw, very simple. She is a two-faced liar with a fragile ego. Her desire is so petty we don’t even get to see her dream broken. So this episode cemented that Cao Cao and Sun Ce are meant to be parallels both being powerful Legend Heroes who are both rivals to Liu Bei even having similar angel devices mirroring each other. https://i.ibb.co/tXQRzhB/Screenshot-20210702-011155.jpg Cao Cao challenges Liu Bei’s ethics and justice and Sun Ce challenges Liu Bei as a martial artist, the two biggest aspects of his characters. This two-parter is mostly about the two clashing ahead as well as seeing all three of them standing together is quite a change of pace which is a nice call back to episode 20. I can’t wait for when they're truly united as a team. Let’s talk about Sun Ce for the moment the biggest thing that stood out to me this episode was how he refuses to even entertain the notion of Liu Bei just attacking Yuan Shao despite his simple hot-headedness this show development and how his clashed with Liu Bei has informed him about who he is. Also, Zhuge Liang, just being a gremlin is the best at tricking Liu Bei, and the Sentai-Esque growing giant helps mix up the giant battles. Episode 32 "Wish Granter"Episode 33 "Skunk's Love Erupts" I’m starting to notice a trend where the 1st part Liu Bei isn’t in it and even the 2nd part is mostly a background character. I think this for the show’s benefit of allowing the other characters to take the spotlight even for one episode shows the confidence the writers have for these characters and the viewer’s investments. I’m so glad to see Diaochan again. She does bring out Cao Cao’s kindness and makes him more multi-layered than one might think of him. As for the new Legend Hero, tying his sub-plot back into Mi Zhu who I haven't seen in a while is nice. https://i.ibb.co/YLtvmJy/Screenshot-20210702-011348.jpg https://i.ibb.co/1JDgc5S/Screenshot-20210702-011333.jpg https://i.ibb.co/tYJXz1J/Screenshot-20210702-011302.jpg https://i.ibb.co/qNbTnrT/Screenshot-20210702-011322.jpg The main love interest kind of got grating but her obsession with material wealth does feel better knowing the context of it being for her students and she’s most likely a one-off character so whatever. And Cao Cao getting L after L is amusing for his charter and is an entertaining highlight for me. Episode 34 "Crisis of Flying Dragon Fist" We finally see Hua Tua again after like 20+ episodes and this time I believe I figured out his identity. It's Zhang Jue considering their obsession with collecting Hero pieces. And as I was watching the reveal that Hua Tua can use Angel magic. The main meat and potatoes of the episode are Liu Bei’s traditional Flying Dragon Fist and Shangxiang’s new style clashing which even affects his Hero power output. For Liu Bei, this is something near and dear to his heart so he reacts negatively to it but with one inspiring beat down from Sun Ce later he realizes he’s been too dismissive. And in his rematch uses these techniques. And now we come to the real spectacle of the episode: the Pincer attack. Say guys, what do these scenes remind you of? https://i.ibb.co/wQfrj8k/Screenshot-20210702-011602.jpg https://i.ibb.co/nMYgx1G/Screenshot-20210702-011528.jpg I can think of three other toku shows with fun and allowing us to see more of these suits are always a plus. |
Something fun to note about the two-parters focused on Sun Ce and Cao Cao is that the title card background changes from Dowan-Kwan to Sun Ce's' Dojo and Cao Cao's' base, respectively.
Sun Ce continues to be a character that I have really mixed feelings on. The Butterfly two-parter seemed focused on highlighting his more positive traits, to the point that he develops past his trend of being gullible. But then come the latest episode he's back to being a dope who gets "tricked" by Liu Bei. Him denouncing Liu Bei during that scene didn't really jive with me either, considering up until this point he was very gung ho about how Martial Arts shouldn't just be considered a business and be serious training. Like, I get wanting to defend your sister, but acting as if Liu Bei wasn't saying anything he agreed with at all? It felt out of character to me. Meanwhile with Cao Cao; Man, I never expected him to be the lead in a comedic two-parter about how you shouldn't be a simp, but boy did it turn out great! Now, initial reactions to the premise: Putting a serious character into comedic episodes filled with fart jokes might not sound good to people on paper, but it's because of the type of character that Cao Cao is that make the comedy of these episodes work great. Like, imagine if, say, Batman fell for the old "rake on the floor" gag. The effect? Absolutely hilarious. And like you said, it did help to highlight his softer side with everything else going on in the story. I have my own theory concerning Hua Tuo though. I think that Liu Bei's' master is actually an Angel, and his clone spell is why he was able to be in two places at once in the early episodes. But yeah, seeing all of the Five Tiger Generals being able to fight at once? Fantastic. Keep doing it. |
Episode 35 "Royal Seal Descends & Episode 36 "Fantastic Dream Battle'
Fantastic, wonderful Legend Heroes is one of the best toku I've ever watched! Sorry just feeling a wave of emotion right now this show is just so good y’all. The character work is impeccable. Let’s talk about our new Legend Hero Ji Ling and the man behind the mask Yuan Shu, a con artist with the delusion of grandeur who rejects reality. https://i.ibb.co/jTGGcjL/Screenshot-20210703-182021.jpg https://i.ibb.co/PzB9h4x/Screenshot-20210703-182037.jpg The show’s final moment is something to pity as he’s now stuck in an empty world of his own making and he’s happy with it’s kind of unsettling because there are people in real life who would jump at this opportunity. https://i.ibb.co/6gStkD5/Screenshot-20210703-181949.jpg Now I honestly thought despite all of the 3 main characters going down that this could be permanent simply because the show hasn’t pulled its punches before and had taken out several previous characters like He Jin and Gongsan Zan and it speaks to the quality of the show that it can convince somebody they would get rid of 95% of the main cast in a single episode. Legend King Eternity is one chunky big boy amirite. https://i.ibb.co/YkFR4n7/Screenshot-20210703-182055.jpg And love how Liu Bei was able to awaken both Cao Cao and Sun Ce by speaking of their ambitions he’s learned through their encounters. It’s a wonderful episode now Legend Hero has cemented it as the best toku show alongside my other contender Kamen Rider Kuuga. |
The Ultrazord is so over the top that I can't help but love.
Anyway yeah, this was a great look into what would happen if our three leads lost the Dream Battle. Not just the state of the world, but the people they would degrade into as well. Though I guess this means the only combatants left are The Trio and then Bulk and Skull, huh? |
Episode 37 "The Little Warlord (1)& Episode 39 The Little Warlord (2)
Now despite Tokusatsu’s primary audience is children I can help but feel as if there is disdain for kids being in toku so how does this two-parter fair in that regard? It’s … alright not my favorite but it is serviceable while also still moving the Zhang Jue plot along with experimenting with a powerful modified Hero piece that gives our new trio immense difficulty. Zhang Jue targeting kids for his testing when he’s bored feels very in character for him too. It helps that the kid Yan Baihu is a brat and the show does not condone his actions nor his parent’s neglect. https://i.ibb.co/r6pDytj/Screenshot-20210706-230735.jpg https://i.ibb.co/s6m5JXG/Screenshot-20210706-230746.jpg I was pleasantly surprised it was Cao Cao who reached out and got the parents to open their eyes and see their wrongdoings. Overall a nice mostly low-stakes two-parter as the show is starting its final 10 episodes and judging by the episode titles things are only going to escalate from here on out. So hopefully with future hindsight much like episodes 7-8, their place in the story feels more natural. |
This kid is a better done version of Kiriya from Hibiki.
With that out of the way, this two-parter was... okay, I guess? It certainly had a decent message to it and all, but not only was it very blatantly a pair of budget episodes(I got a good giggle out of the PS2 controller being a stand-in for an RC car remote), but it really felt like this story could've easily just been one episode. |
Episode 39 "The End Of Dream Battle"
The beginning fight between our three protagonists is my favorite part of the episode because largely the buildup of these 3 fighting each other seriously was something the show always teased. Adding the fate of the world on top of a time limit for their wishes makes it raise the stakes as well as ground the situation onto the characters. Zhang Jue after 30+ episodes makes his move combining elements we’ve established his obsession with Hero Pisces, modifying and revving petrified Pisces and the Dark Pentagram all come back to a cohesive narrative strung together frequently throughout the show. Episode 40 "Unstoppable Bond" Episode 40's emotional crux is through the fake Xu Shu and how both Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang’s connection to her both weakens and ultimately makes their bond stronger. https://i.ibb.co/hyLbST9/Screenshot-20210707-232307.jpg Liu Bei is pushed into the corner mentally and what ultimately saves him is his trust in his Guan Yu which will factor in more with the next episode but he finally manages to come up with a plan that Zhuge Liang was surprised by and thus their dynamic has been pushed forward beyond. Episode 41 "The Ultimate Dark Warlord" https://i.ibb.co/99SSQPV/Screenshot-20210707-232431.jpg https://i.ibb.co/C0cby5q/Screenshot-20210707-232439.jpg This show does such a good job of continuity and Lu Bu’s story ends peacefully protecting Diaochan from himself. Zhang Jue believes himself to be the Hero Pieces and Angels savior but as the battle rages his true colors are revealed simply waiting to fight and cause chaos. Now let’s talk about the big one folks Legend Hero Imperial Liu Bei’s Final Form. https://i.ibb.co/5WRGjHc/Screenshot-20210707-232502.jpg In tokusatsu, Final Forms are a big deal. So I ask you this: what do you think of Imperial? How does it stack up in comparison to other Final Forms? And what even makes a good final form? Personally speaking, I love this form of a nice upgrade of Guan Yu and then added gold trimmings and bulkiness combined with that lovely cape. As we move to our finale the real villain reveals himself, Sima Yu |
I absolutely loved that 39 started with Cao Cao having the same dream that Liu Bei had at the start of the show.
Also really loved the speech Zhuge Liang gave to Liu Bei in 40, further emphasizing just how important friendships and bonds can be, and how you should value someone for their true selves, rather than the superficial. Kinda the moral of this entire three parter. As for 41, well, remember how I said you can see certain things coming if you're familiar with other Three Kingdoms stories? Yeah, needless to say, it's due to that that I saw the twist with Sima Yi coming. Still, the absolute brutality of which he gets rid of Dr. Insano was really good. Overall, this was a great three-parter to lead us into the show's' endgame. When it comes to Imperial Form, man, I think it's totally perfect, actually. The way inwhich it comes about is a slight Deus Ex Machina, but the form itself? From its aesthetic, to its powers, to just how friggen cool it is, I totally love it. I really dig when Final Forms manage to be a fully realized version of everything the fighter in question has gained so far, and Imperial Form is just that. |
Episode 42 "The Owner of the Golden Piece"
Liu Bei has been swayed by Imperial power and the results are terrifying. Cao Cao is now being manipulated by Sima Yu and what this means for the future now that he’s going to take Liu Bei as a serious threat. Hua Tuo is indeed Master Lu Zhi. I did not expect the previous Dream Battles to come into play in the story. The deep regrets of his past and how much like the legend of the Three Kingdoms is being repeated also went through something similar to Liu Bei. It’s been a couple of episodes but man where are the Flyquitos? |
Very OOO this episode!
I rather liked this one. From having Liu Bei dress in black instead of his usual green, to the cool idea of having him fight all of his other forms, there were some good visuals! They managed to get me with the twist about Lu Zhi, too, although they didn't actually explain how he could use Angel Magic. Maybe the winners of the Dream Battle get access to that? |

I love his cool sword. I like the suit. A final form, to me, has to meet 3 criteria: 1) The toy, and henceforth method of activating the form, is cool. You give me a cool toy that meshes with the device in some awesome way, AND a cool transformation, and I'm sold. Imperial does this. You put the Guan Yu piece in the belt and it pushes out the gold piece, Gun-Shin-Il-Che, and bam. Complete with a dragon and column of light. 2) The suit looks cool. Even more so if it gets a weapon unique to it. Like Imperial. A cool suit with a unique weapon is usually an instant-win in my book. But alone, Imperial still looks cool. It's got the Guan Yu body with extra add-ons. Loving the open dragon jaw shoulder pads (literally just noticed that; back when I first watched this show years ago, I thought they were dragon heads; but no, the line on the arm is the open mouth). The dragon head crest is especially cool. 3) The form's powers are used often (or at least displayed a ton in the debut fight and sparingly after; Fourze's does this well, Build's does not). I love cool powers. What can I say? For example... You gimme the power of flight on an armored, robotic, laser cannon-wielding angel of death and I'm happy. Give it the ability to teleport with a feather effect and create portals and light ring attacks and I'm SOLD. Basically, all of these fall under "rule of cool". Which means most final forms already meet my criteria for being "good". |
Episode 43 "Cao Cao's Choice" & Episode 44 "Counter-Attack of a New Dark Warlord" & Episode 45 "Roar, The Tiger Of Gangdong" & Episode 46 "The Tiger of Gangdong Still Stands"
This arc has been mostly all right the main problem is well juxtaposing Cao Cao becoming Kaiser is the story of Sun Ce and his family the level of investment feels off simply due to Sun Ce illness coming straight out of nowhere and his issues with his younger brother while there from the beginning might as well have been introduced in this arc. If it seems like I’m being a bit harsh on this I suppose it just is not that this story is inherently bad just oddly paced is all I'm saying. Far more invested in the inevitable final clash between Cao Cao and Liu Bei at the Red Cliff FIghting Tournament which I’ve just realized they’ve been foreshadowing since the beginning of the show. https://i.ibb.co/L01wPQC/Legend-Hero-Kaiser.jpg But let us not bemoan what we didn’t get but what we got it. We’ve got some nice range of emotions from all of the cast from Sun Ce to regret to his family anger at his silent disappearance, and Zhuge Liang surprisingly pleading for Sun Ce to continue fighting for his family, his Hero Pieces and Zhou Yu. Is it just me or do the two of the new Dark Warlords introduce remind you guys of the Two Flyquito guys? Like I thought they were corrupted versions of them. https://i.ibb.co/K9kCcrz/Screenshot-20210722-231710.jpg And Shanxiang being dragged into was smart storytelling giving us a physical version of Sun Ce’s familial struggles. |
Sorry if you already mentioned it, but I should point out that Kaiser has the exact same profile as Imperial, meaning the destroyer warlord shown in the dreams has been Kaiser all along, not Imperial as we were lead to believe.
