Toei Channel Japan Price and Cable Package Details
1 Attachment(s)
Several days ago we received news about Toei starting a pay channel for streaming shows in the United States. Now we have a pricepoint and channel details for this new service!
Toei Japan Channel will operate on a $20 monthly subscription fee and be available through the MyGlobeTV cable service package. Toei will indeed add subtitles to the streaming programs after the first year, if the Channel is succuessful. At the moment exact programming schedules are unknown but Toei Japan's schedule does mention a variety of tokusatsu programming- including Kamen Rider Kiva, Kamen Rider W, Seiju Sentai Gingaman and Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger. Thanks to member NGW for the heads-up! |
Toei Japan Channel to have $20/month subscription fee
Toei has announced that the recently revealed Toei Japan Channel, which aims to bring streaming footage of their Japanese station over to the states, amonst other content, will be requiring users to pay $20 a month for the use of the service.
If things go over well, we'll likely be seeing English subtitles, official subtitles, for some of our favorite shows. Personally, I'd love to support this but I cannot afford another $20 a month on top of my other expenses, especially not to watch programming I have no way of understanding. Definitely want to see this succeed though, even moreso if it means we can get officially subbed releases on dvd/bluray. Source: http://www.jefusion.com/2013/09/subs...s-a-month.html |
Wow, they're just setting themselves up for failure. No subtitles to start off, outrageous fee, I can just see this crashing out of the gate.

It is a damned shame too, I really want this to do well as I love what that could potentially mean for toku in the states. Just the chance at having Ryuki on dvd or bluray, fully subbed (officially) gets me all fangasm-y, but I can't support the channel myself and I don't know that many others will either.

It is simply Toei Channel in Japan being linked to the US.
Digital TV channel is asking for 1575 yen per month, so the extra cost is probably what the relay is charging you for the port. https://www.toeich.jp/?act=guidance-skye2&id=contact https://www.toeich.jp/?act=guidance-skyhd&id=contact https://www.toeich.jp/?act=guidance-skyhikari Here's the lineup for this month. http://www.toeich.jp/?act=top-top |
$20 is a bit much, but I really hope it does well. I wouldn't mind paying that to watch Kamen Rider legally. I hope it does well enough to warrant subtitles.

$20 a month is a little high, but if they do subtitle it all, and Comcast carries it, I'll give it a chance. But only if they are actually going to sub the shows.
|
Sorry, Toei, but especially at that fee, no subtitles at the start is going to doom you from the start. And I was somewhat hoping for this to succeed.. But combine it all isn't that great of a package by limiting the audience so much.

heavily considering getting this, even if its raw, I'd love to support it, 20 bucks a month is doable for me, though in order to get the free box i'd have to take a two year contract, which is what i'm thinking of

So, let me understand this. No subtitled shows for a full calender year, no Toku-related shows, limited service availability, and now a 20 dollar subscription fee?
Wow, what a wonderful buisness model for falling flat on your ass. |
