I honestly wasn't expecting the Lupins to fail in their mission this early on.

Guys, I... uh, have a confession to make. This whole time I've been going on and on about how I'm totally Team Pat, and how much I love Keiichirou, but actually... Kairi was secretly my favorite character the whole time.
I know, I know, it's an awful betrayal, but I can't help myself. Something about his personality really appeals to me in a way I can't quite find the words to describe. Well, besides 現代っ子, but I don't think that really helps most of the people here out. The point is, my infidelity was especially odd when you consider he hadn't even had his own focus episode until now. As such I was pretty hyped for this, and I have to say, this is my favorite episode of the show so far. I don't know if it's significantly better than any of the other stellar episodes this show's already had, but I'm a sucker for any plot where a character is developed by having them encounter a situation that parallels something in their own life, and given how consistently well handled the Lupinranger's side of the story has already been, it's no wonder I liked it so much. There's nothing super complicated or impressive about it, but the story here worked well. I think the tone hits a great balance between being serious and fun, and the twist at the end was genuinely quite shocking considering how early into the series we still are. The best part is, just like the last time I had this many good things to say about an episode, this is only part one of a two-part story. It's honestly quite impressive how much momentum Lupinranger VS Patranger has going already. |
This show blows away all the toku I have ever watched...

Well then, they are tackling a collection piece destruction early, meaning even more of them will likely end up being destroyed over the shows run instead of a constant THEY DID IT scenario.
Now I do not really think the collection has the ability to wish back people, most sentai shows do not have a easy fix it for everything that happens, especially earlier shows, since the opening mentions stolen time I do wonder if that is literal though and the assassin showing up next episode has that ability, which in turn could give them new hope for getting back their friends and loved ones, how will our butler react to this situation though, that interests me. And Goodie seems to have really gotten distressed by the Patrangers actions this episode and their zero care attitude towards other collection pieces, I think they will have to regain trust with it after this episode. |
I don't think the Gangler was destroyed as there was no destroyed safe after it happened and you can see him in the NEP fighting LupinKaiser (it's at the end)
They just got lucky this time, but I think there really will be a time where a collection piece will get destroyed, maybe the final one or something. |

The show is totally going to end up with them being a joint team called " Lupatrangers or something ", these toys are meant to combine into a large mech, it is tradition at this point to have as many as possible combine for som very complicated and sometimes flat out absurd (( in a good way )) mechs, when shit starts getting real with the villains now starting to show up properly they are going to be forced into a situation that requires them to work together, I do not see them dealing with any of the generals as split teams. |
I liked the episode. I liked the emotional connection between Kairi and the woman, creating a nice parallel.
Enjoyable episode overall, not much I have to say on it beyond me being excited for next episode, since it's a confrontation between Kairi and the ice dude~ |
I guess the trigger machines and dial fighters are in kogure's book. Some are disguise as normal artifacts like in this episode. The French lady look so familiar, but I can't remember where I've seen her before. She's one of the more interesting guest star in recent toku.

So much for that character development few episodes ago, right? Yes, Keiichiro, ignore that giant monster in front of you. It's that tiny lone thief that carries the bigger threat, right?
Even Zenigata was able to see the bigger picture and didn't let his obsession blind him from the right cause from time to time. You Keiichiro on the other hand a man child who fails to see the bigger picture despite all the encounters you had with the Lupinrangers and chose to protect people instead of arresting them, but I guess you needed more than one lesson to beat on your tiny brain. |
^ In all fairness, Keiichirou's single mindedness is both his strength and weakness. That's why when the team actually does become one, Kairi will be the defacto leader. He's less headstrong and more deliberate in his actions.
The fact is the Lupins have a better backstory, and their reason to fight is also a better motive than the Patarangers desire to just be protectors for society. I like the new combo, the split stealth bomber reminds me strongly of the Transformers G2 Dreadwing. |
