Kamen Rider Zi-O Epside 49- "Apocalypse 2019!" Discussion
In his final battle, Sougo is confronted by an unexpected new foe as reality collapses around them- who will be triumphant at last?!?!
Watch SuperHeroTime Via Livestream!! Check out episodes as they air on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block now start at 8PM EST on Saturdays! |
If there had to be a song playing in this forum I vote for it to be The Final Countdown.
|
I second that
|
Not just the final episode of Zi-O, but the final episode of the Heisei Era Kamen Riders.
|
So....the synopsis I saw is real....what the heck....
|
A new foe? Onore Decado ?
|
That was an interesting episode.
Lotta people saying it's similar to Build and Ryuki and therefore it's bad. I didn't really see much of a way to rectify the timeline at this state. My praise for Zi-O is.... still up there. This finale arc felt interesting and got more hype as we got closer to now. Junichirou came in clutch and fixed the watches, enabling a pretty hype fight using Grand. It still got one-shotted by Swartz, but at least it put up a good fight. Too bad Tsukuyomi was one-shotted, but at least she managed to distract Swartz enough with a backstab. Ohma's henshin was as explosive as I had anticipated. OH MY GOODNESS IT ONE-SHOTS EVERYTHING; THIS IS JUST A CHAIN OF ONE-HIT KILLS! The final kick was amazing, too. And then there's the timeline reset, merge, and overall creation of a new timeline where everyone is alive and no one remembers it except Sougo. Interesting. I can see why people think it's like Build in that regard. Didn't Ryuki involve some sort of time loop in one of its endings, that came out the same way? With how rushed it was, the final episode brings to mind Ex-Aid or Gurren Lagann. A really quick final battle, and then a quick recap to bring everything to a close. It was fine for what it was. However confusing Zi-O has been... With how annoying some of the haters have been..... However nonsensical Kento and Mouri's writing was... Even though we didn't get a Future Sougo face reveal (even though we didn't need one; thought it was revealed to be Seiji Takaiwa)... Even though the finale arc wasn't as "finale" esque at the start.... Through the nonexistent Time Jackers... And even through Sougo, Geiz, Woz, Tsukuyomi, and Junichirou's familial and admittedly heartwarming antics.... I still like this show. I'm glad I stuck with it. And with all those Zero-One ads, I have hope for the future our little king protected. |
So, I like most of the episode, but damn that ending. Granted, I haven't had subs yet, but still. I don't like it, separating the Rider Worlds again will just create problems in the long run and removing the series from memory in this way is just wrong to me.

Takaiwa's last Rider Kick was pretty awesome. Speaking of which, he was the untransformed Ohma. I wish I has a higher-res version of the image.
|
I saw that. A lot of people thought Oma was Shirakura since that .5 gag.

Mixed feelings about reset endings in general, though the fact that everyone will invariably get their memories back for V-cinemas and crossovers sort of makes it a moot point I guess.
Ok enough finale, I'd say. Had some good moments...but I don't think Tsukuyomi was really well utilized at all (her one-episode double crossing gambit just didn't accomplish much in either direction) and Tsukasa and Kaito just disappear from the episode halfway through, which is something of a shame. I dunno, it's a whole thing. All in all, I enjoyed Zi-O. It's about as flawed as a series can be, with an abundance of missed opportunities and missteps, as well as a handful of characters that just weren't any fun to watch. But I still had fun with it, and I attribute that in great part to the fact that I enjoyed at least the main 3 Rider characters a lot. A lot of people would probably count Sougo or Geiz among those characters that weren't any fun, but I thoroughly enjoyed Sougo the whole way through, and Geiz got better on the second half. I almost have to wonder if I'd like Zi-O at all if I didn't enjoy these 3. Impossible to say. But I'm looking forward to seeing them again whenever and if they pop up again. The other characters can also be there too, I guess. |
Iwae
OFFICIALLY The Best Kamen Rider Henshin of all time plus the Iwae that made it so good! First time Sougo requested for an Iwae. The reset is part of the story as part of the journey is the end but the journey was complete because of his comrades; and the ultimate reward is having his comrades back. Great episode over-all!
|
I didn't follow ZI-O, but I was pretty bored and decided to watch this. I have no idea how this wrapped up plotlines but this was a really good finale based on action alone, and I liked that Sougo decided to split the timelines back up. The Oma Zi-O henshin was also really spicy.
|
I'll be honest I kind of like having the Riders as separate continuity worlds tbh
As fun as crossovers are, there was something with Rider that didn't seem to gel right with having a "Cinematic Universe" in my opinion. It worked for some shows and Megamax was honestly the peak of that. But it was pretty shaky all other times despite how much I love Pac-Man and Final. Just compared to Ultraman which is able to do a lot more leeway with the way they set everything up, Kamen Rider just... doesn't really have that you know? So I can respect the decision to splitting everything up again as a result. |
Wow what an ending I love Zi-O from start to finish. There were only a few ep I didn't care for but for most I enjoy. Oma Zi-O henshin was awesome and he was beating the hell out of the evil riders with one hit that was badass. It clear that Oma Zi-O is the strongest rider in the whole franchise proven by this ep. He punch a dragon with a single hit. In the end the timeline was reset and everyone was back which was nice to see. Zi-O had a better end than decade did. Looking forward to the Geiz movie and the winter team up.
|
And everybody thought Junichiro is useless...and the Oma Form is a super saiyan level of Grand Zi-O.
|
Oma Zi-O's henshin was, in one word, badass.
It got even more badass for me when he fought. Also: quote from Kamen Rider Wiki: Expressive Flame Eye (エクスプレッシブフレイムアイ, Ekusupuresshibu Fureimu Ai) - The red visor that spells out 'Rider' in katakana. Sensors with a 270° viewing angle is built into the compound eye. Additionally, its red coloring is due to it being in a constant state of heat, being 1000-1200°C. It can shoot out rays of heat at a maximum output. This just made Oma Zi-O even more OP in my eyes. |
I liked this ending, but didn't love it. There were too many unsolved mysteries, but I felt that this show was at the mercy of whoever of each rider's cast could return to represent the AR of that storyline and to build a new storyline around whoever came back.
I really hated almost everyone at the beginning, but I warmed up to Sougo, Junichiro, and Geiz. Tsukoyomi's character needed to be explained better and to me she is just average looking and I usually like some eye candy in each season. |
Iwae2
Will we ever know or Old Sougo narrate how he got his original power before Geiz and Tsukuyomi made the time travel in episode 1? Like a prequel to Zi-O?

I don't dislike Build's ending anymore. (Well okay, I was mostly mixed about it before (leaning towards positive), but now I'm entirely positive with Zi-O's in comparison)
Things I liked: The action, and Geiz's death actually got me emotional. That was it, everything else was 'urgh'. |
You know, I wouldn't even mind the reset ending if the context of it was juuuuust a little different. I get the sense I'm suppose to feel like Sougo is 'sacrificing' his great dream of becoming a king in order to make the world a better place and bring his friends back, but it really fell flat for me.
His desires to become king have only manifested as halfhearted exclamations, and I don't think it would have ever been a hard decision for him to pass up on that dream anyway. I mean, I don't think any of us thought he was actually going to become a good king of the world or something anyway so it was a bit of a foregone conclusion. What would have made the drama at the end work for me is if Sougo decided that to save his friends, he would erase himself from time, but then Woz interferes with his own power. Sougo would be all 'no Woz lemme do this' and Woz is like 'no waga maoh you deserve better'. Considering all the other nonsense that has happened in this show, I'm certain most people could accept that he can just do that. The end result is that instead of Sougo's initial intention to just erase himself, it ends up making it so that Sougo still exists just without his memories like everyone else thanks to Woz, but Woz himself just continues to live in this world with no place for him, basically making him like Sento and Banjou in Build's finale. It still wouldn't be 'amazing' in my opinion, but I'm sure at least it wouldn't have me rolling my eyes like how it actually went. |
The A.R. Worlds is separated again.
Hm....maybe Build World is separated again too.... |
UUUUURK, not again....
I hated Build's ending...I hate that one aswell. In Build's ending, there was a matter of necessity that even the current Riders power at the time couldn't stop ( that changed at the last minute...) Here, there was no matter of necessity....He got rid of Schwartz....He got rid of his "timeline" because he wanted his friends back....damn... Sure, ZI-O is a "happy ending", but not really. Geiz, Tsuku, the two Time Jackers don't seem to remember a thing. As for Sougo, are we sure he doesn't remember jack shit? If Sougo has his memories wiped out aswell, then I see Woz as being as alone as Sento and Ryuga at the end of Build and that sucks... ( do the movies do something about the World of Build? namely, having everyone remember everything?) Another thing....Where is that book that influenced/controlled the future? We basically never saw that thing ever again after Kaito stole it. I think this could have prevented the mess that happened in the last episodes. So hu...In the end, Ohma ZI-O "dies" by having Sougo giving up his dreams. I might be looking too much into it, but perhaps the death of his friends was the "sacrifice" he said he emplied doing in previous episodes and that gave him Ohma's power. Well...I'll wait for the subs but hu....I'm in a paradox here. If you like the characters, you'll be a bit happy for all of them being alive. But if you care about the story....this ending just sucks. I always hated the " it is but a dream it never happened" and timeline resetting is the exact same thing. I like the ending for the "good ending" and I hate it because they fucking pulled a Build 2.0. Just, don't, DO THAT. Well...I guess I'll watch the cinema movie when that thing will be out, but it'd better be good and explain HOW Geiz can get other riders power since the worlds are not one anymore. Only a minor question of mine...But before Decade was created. We do agree that Kuuga was in the same world as Kamen Rider Ichigo's world? Which means it was in the Showa Riders world. If so... is Agito and other riders other worlds from the "original" one we knew? And then...What do we do about ....Ichigo being in Ghost? Would that mean that the foundation of each Kamen Rider's world is the "Showa World"? If anyone understand what I'm trying to say >.< |

Look, you just gotta accept that continuity in this franchise is whatever the current writer at the moment decides they want it to be, and it's also whatever you choose it to be. And honestly I think it's for the better that way. |
I see where you're getting at, but you know, if you as a reader, watcher, are investing yourself in the piece you're given, you can tend to become overcritical if the ending is underwhelming...
As for me....Build and ZI-O have been underwhelming on these aspects. Build's narration and pacing were in the end better than ZI-O, but that ending destroyed all that. ZI-O had pacing problems and the narration wasn't always good, the ending could have transformed ZI-O into being compelling but nope. In the end we get an ending that is a disappointment.... In the end, I'm asking myself why I was watching that. Toei really needs to step up their games because two Riders in a row with a " not taking risks" ending attitude is really getting on my nerves. This is not how you should tell a story. My rant is over. |
What a lame ending to the Heisei era. Female Riders are treated like sh*t in Rider universe, what was the point of revealing a *new* rider, just to.....TERRIBLE season/show.Only finished this because of Decade charisma. Have lost faith in this franchise, lemme get back to Ultra universe,it makes more sense....and the company actually seems to CARE about it's fans worldwide
|
Well, here we are. The official end of the Heisei era.
Annnnnnd it's underwhelming. I really enjoyed the previous two episodes leading to this, but yeah, as I suspected: They really did need an extra episode or two to really flesh this out. It's a lot of things - disappointing, rushed, nonsensical, unfulfilling - but it's also really epic, has great action and some good performances. The end result just feels like missed potential. There are great moments. Let's talk about the action scenes. We get to see Time Mazin again. Decade, Diend and Woz teaming up is a fun time (though weird how they just up and vanish for most of the episode). Seeing Grand's full henshin again was fun and I can't tell you how happy I am to finally see some varied use of its powers again. Doesn't quite reach the potential shown in its debut but come on; Type Formula, Maximum Mighty X and TankTank, basically the super form team (oh and Ghost cause why not). And when we get to see Tajadol, Pine Arms and Infinity we see exactly which episode they came from (sans CJX but I can assume its the debut). And we get the return of some big villains too. N-Daguva-Zeba bringing in the darkness from the Kurogatake Mountains, and Evol using blackholes to destroy the city (though he was not in his Black Hole form, minus a point for that) - This is the kind of stuff I always wanted to see in this series. And that Oma Zi-O debut! Just speechless at how badass it was. The henshin sequence alone was unbelievably epic, but then he goes and one-shots all the endgame villains. He friggin' punches Dragblacker in the face and even traps Gamedeus in like some kind of energy ball. It's ruthless and extreme and over-the-top and I love it. The part where he asks Woz to "iwae" for him was a great moment. Course, that's about where my praise ends. No matter how much you try to change the context, the "merging worlds" plot is way too close visually and conceptually to Build's finale last year. You get this feeling that you've seen it all before. The justification for it is kind of convoluted too. Tsukuyomi and Schwarz's world is disappearing because it lacks a Kamen Rider, so by turning Tsukuyomi into a Rider they manage to create a Rider world and can merge it with Zi-O's. Tsukasa even mentions that the world they are currently inhabiting is Zi-O's world. This just complicates the time travel aspect of the show in a way that's just ridiculously convoluted and I'm not even going to get into it. Speaking of Tsukuyomi, obviously we weren't going to get anything substantial from her Rider form but it was still disappointing to see just how little screentime it got. Like she literally transforms just to detransform again. And later on she gets to stab Schwarz (I suppose it's a homage to Kivala stabbing Decade?) but she dies immediately after anyway. The thing is, her "betrayal" of the team is actually super pointless because Geiz's death is what causes Sougo to go Oma anyway. They literally could have killed her at the beginning of the episode and it wouldn't have changed anything. Instead we have a pointless last-minute twist that does nothing for the episode's already-archaic pacing. Oh and Geiz's death. Great acting, mind you, it seemed like a scene that was planned to happen but they couldn't fit it in logically. Geiz comes out of nowhere to take that hit and Schwarz waits patiently for like 4 minutes while Sougo says his goodbyes. It just doesn't feel earned at all. And then Sougo just resets the whole timeline/splits the whole Rider universe back into their respective worlds? The continuity is just... bah why should I even care at this point. The epilogue is boring. The time reset storyline has been done before and it's been done better. Build last year was better. Even Ryuki was better. Here it really lacks impact. No one cares that Uhr and Hora are back. I get that Oma Zi-O's powers were not only to destroy but to also create, so that would explain why Tsukuyomi and Geiz can exist as students in the new timeline, but like all time-reset stories, it cheapens their big death scenes significantly. And I know that due to the nature of the production, we can't have a denouement for all characters who appeared in the series, but I feel like there are too many loose ends that fans would have appreciated seeing tied up. Like did Michal come back after the reset? Did the Rider's regain their powers? What happened to the RideWatches? Does Diend still have his time-stopping abilities (did they ever explain if he actually DID work with Oma Zi-O?)? Why is Woz the only one to have his memories? This is more a personal disappointment but I am bummed that we never got any returning actors from Kuuga. Here would have been a perfect place to have that cameo. As a finale to Zi-O it has its own set of problems, but as the end of the entire Heisei era in a show dedicated to bringing back legends? I know its a tall order but it could have been a lot more bombastic? Like I wanted to see an all-out Rider war. The return of the 20 main suits. The future Riders - would have been cool to see them contribute in the final battle instead of being forgotten about. Maybe some more legend faces in a montage like they did for Gokaiger? The main thing that kept me and many others invested in this show was the anniversary element of it. They tried with the core Zi-O story but it definitely isn't enough and it shows really badly here. There's no excitement, nothing to get hyped over. Well, except Oma Zi-O. I guess I'd rather end my final review of Zi-O on a more positive note though. I really liked Sougo's uncle till the very end, he was such a wholesome character. And the scene where Oma Zi-O exclaims his powers consist of every Rider's and every RideWatch from secondary to tertiary materialize around was way too cool. I was super glad to see Tsukasa and Kaito get massive roles in the series, especially Decade (though I wish he did more as a Rider). There were many tribute episode, especially in the latter half, that were super well-done, like Agito and Kabuto. So like, my overall thoughts on the show aren't bad. I think it was an admirable effort and certainly a better anniversary show than Decade. But I think Reiwa resetting from scratch will be a real breath of fresh air. Zero-One looks amazing and I hope it'll breathe new life into the franchise. I'll always have fond memories of Heisei but it's time to put its messy and convoluted history to rest. When I think back to the episode, there is one thing I think they did very well - the transfer of roles, a baton pass I guess you'd say, to the next generation. We know Takaiwa Seiji is Oma Zi-O's actor based on a screencap from the official website, as I suspected. We also know he is retiring from the main role with Zi-O. In a way, the final conversation Sougo has with himself is a good farewell to 19 years of tremendous dexterity and suit-acting prowess that Seiji displayed throughout his 18 main Rider roles. If Oma Zi-O's Rider kick was to be Seiji's last, I have to say it was a good one. Thank you for all you've done for the franchise. Oh, and lets keep Shirakura away from the next anniversary series, yeah? Till Next Time. |
Sougo retained his memories. The book of White Woz being overused is lazy writing especially at the end. They have different timelines but Characters/Riders still co-existed, like in Build's world for example, there is Kota Kazuraba but not a god like what he became in Gaim's world/timeline, etc.
|
I don't like feeling salty about this show so now that we're at the end, I'm going to now talk about things I really liked, just like Xtreme RX. Not in a full-review kind of way, but just some of the things I know I'll always look back on fondly when I think of Zi-O.
I've really grown to like (some of) the main characters. It's impossible for me not to have gotten a little attached over the course of 49 weekly episodes, but this show really got me to care about Sougo and Geiz. I definitely wouldn't put them on the level of Eiji and Ankh or Shotaro and Philip, but they had a really strong premise here. Soldier from the future comes back to kill the young version of the evil overlord ruining his world, ends up forming an unbreakable bond with him. It's great. I don't believe for a moment they fleshed it out or focused on it nearly as much as they could have, but they spent just enough time and a good enough job that it made me care a lot. Their big conflict and following team-up during the Another Zi-O arc was my absolute favourite part of the whole series, and I got emotional in pretty much every scene from then on that featured the two. And who's the other Rider in this show I really like? White Woz! Yeah, I loved just about everything about him from his debut to his very sloppily-written exit. When he showed up from an alternate future, it took the entire story for such a spin on it's head which carried my excitement greatly through many episodes. And I still really enjoyed the great and sometimes even hilarious contrast between the fact that he (ostensibly) wanted to bring a bright and peaceful future to the world, while also being a shamelessly and blatantly terrible person himself. I loved the Another Riders. Both as a concept, and all of their designs. Though I can't be the only one who thinks Another Decade should have come before Another Zi-O II, right? Or have them both share the position of final villain since both Sougo and Tsukasa are here? Eh, something to think about in a hypothetical re-write. As an anniversary series, it was weird as heck. Most of the really good tributes came in the second half (save for one bat-shaped exception) but special mention to the Agito one featuring not only Shouchi himself but also BELIEVE YOURSELF which blew both mine and a lot of people's minds in a good way. Over-Quartzer is my favourite theme song in all of Kamen Rider. It's really good! In fact, a lot of the soundtrack as a whole is good and I eagerly await it's release so that I may pirate it. So yeah, this was definitely a bizarre but honestly still greatly entertaining year for Rider. But honestly, I'm looking forward to a more 'restrained' kind of insanity with Zero-One. After all, Zi-O makes Build and Ex-Aid look like coherent and perfectly logical narratives. Also RIP Kamen Rider Aqua. If we don't ever see him again, we may have to assume he's dead for good. Not to be mean to him or anyone who likes him, but I find that almost comically cruel. |
CathlyrebssIib ryuki reset? It's like out of context watching this episode will be epic cool aside from rumors of tie in woz diend betrayal instead otsuki along with 19 other Heisei appearing again some in and out suit. Decade was wasted potential. The end shot with all of them together with be nice if they play up in depth exploring and developing their relationship first. It's like when was the jackers friends with the heroes. Even geiz and zio rivalry and friendship was weak compares to ryuki version. It's like a big chunk of unexplored v cinema materials. This is like another build ending leading to v cinema and movie war . It's better than decade ending.
Also, ohma form /movie form is king. Grand zio was pretty weak and forgettable now beside the henshin tra formation and jingle. When was the last time it did well besides another deno. Maybe another zio , but only after endless beat down. Honestly, the finale could be worst. The series played up woz/ohma zio to be more of an obstacle and internal conflict, but wild card Swartz came in. A lot of random exposition without strong flashback or key scene context plus character development. The series as a whole is good for people wanting to see old riders and new to rider perhaps. A decent end regardless of bs endgame build up. Glad prove people wrong this leads to another cliffhanger like decade. Tsuki and ohma limited appearance PB toy baits. |
Still loved a lot of things about this series, pretty much all of which Fresh already went over; but...
... Eh. Decade was better. |
(Looks like I’m late to finally Use this lol. Ah well I’ve got zero one)
While it’s not perfect, I personally enjoyed this series start to finish. Do I wish they used their earlier cameos a bit better? Oh yeah definitely. Would’ve loved to see the OOO arc done in a way like Agito. But I can’t deny that this was a fun’ series. It’s has a lot of flaws granted, and the poor time shenanigans at the beginning and end definitely attribute to that. Having the worlds be separate is not something I really enjoy, since I feel like, while it’s technically necessary, it’s kind of just...not fun. That kinda of ties in with another flaw, the fact that we never see these cameos interact with each other outside their series. Granted the Decade bois did amazing but it’s a bit disappointing. As for good parts, I loved all 3 main kamen riders, and their personalizes are really fun. The power ups, the Another riders, and Oma Zi O are all just highlights of the season for me. All in all. I think the ending of a reset and then having Geiz be the world’s main rider (or whatever the V cinema is doing) isn’t a totally bad option. Again, I don’t like the full universe reset where all the kamen riders come from different worlds but for the Zi o cast, a peaceful reset where Sougo and friends can live their lives isn’t bad. I’m hyped for Zero One though, and here’s to hoping it’s as great as it looks! Maybe if we’re lucky they’ll actually keep the timeline coherent. I also admittedly hope we get some more v cinemas to tie Zi o up, or really, the heisei period up. Get some conclusions to like, OOOs, Double, etc. As personally...I think a lot of cameos need to return for another event so they can be handled better. |
Well having watched that sub.
Yeah there's totally enough vagueness on what's going on with the separate rider worlds to where I think we can spin our own interpretation. And I think it was left like that on purpose so that other directors/writers can do what they want. Who knows maybe W through Ex-Aid alongside the Showa Riders still exist in a singular world. Perhaps all the extra worlds are just AR Versions, we don't really know. Not to mention one world could be the World of Geiz Revive, seeing as White Woz is present in the trailer, and that's possibly where all the Future Riders ended up. That being said I can appreciate the reset purely because... it isn't an actual reset, it's a Remix. Purely because, your dragging people from The World of Tsukuyomi to Zi-O's world, alongside people from different timelines and setting them all in a singular timeline starting at 2018. That's a lot more than your usual reset. Not to mention there's an easy way for things to come back with Woz. Dude can yeet belts and probably still has everything that passed still on record. Overall a fantastic ending to Heisei Kamen Rider and Zi-O is probably one of my fave series. Not the best, it's pretty rough in a lot of area's, but my general enjoyment of it has been pretty high. That being said I'm excited to see what Zero-One will bring to the table. |
I see this mostly as The other Rider worlds are back to what they were before Zi-O screwed everything up.

Not the biggest fan of this return to status quo, and while it's left somewhat up in the air I do think this reset has put every Rider in it's own world for good.
Mind you they're gonna forget this for Zero-One X Zi-O and just have Zi-O appear somehow due to some time space BS also https://i.gyazo.com/22fb8ac852a28f90...c613261d27.jpg Dunno if the 21st is meant to imply Zero-One or something else but, there's 21 worlds now. |
Sougo is god of the World of Zero One. :lol
|
Well, that was stupid but at least it's over now.
Good to see that Build's finale is still getting work. I assumed it was going to enjoy retirement, yet here it was again for an encore performance. I haven't posted any Zi-O reactions in awhile because I fell behind and it took a few weeks to muster up the enthusiasm to actually watch the show but I figure I'll lay down some final thoughts. Zi-O wasn't Ghost-teir bad, but it was not a good show. It had some really high peaks (Agito) and some lows (Kiva), but on the whole it was just really bland and mediocre. Most of the characters were underdeveloped and uninteresting, with a lot of abrupt objective changes and unexplored motivations (seriously, why did Woz betray the rebels to follow Zi-O? This was never explained). I enjoyed Woz because it was hard not to and Sougo grew on me, but the Time Jackers, Tsukoyomi, and especially Geiz never did anything to grow on me as characters. This was a show that I watched primarily to see the returning faces and that was rarely rewarding because most were effectively playing different characters. The show's real bright spot was the point where they stopped erasing past shows and started bringing in the modern versions of these characters (Blade, Agito, etc.). That's still not really to the show's own credit, though, as fanservice and plot are not the same thing. As far as the finale itself goes, it barely made coherent sense. Like I and several others have said, it was ripped largely from Build. The parts that were uniquely Zi-O didn't make a ton of sense, though. I know that Tsukuyomi, as a character, was only slightly deeper than a small puddle, but I doubt anyone would seriously think she'd betray her friends (apart from that time when she randomly decided that Sougo had to die for two episodes). Zi-O finally turns into Oma Zi-O by... just doing it? There was no explanation at all for that. Grand Zi-O got curbstomped (again), Geiz died, and then the new belt just manifested out of nowhere. I liked the bit where Chekhov's Watchmaker finally paid off, but the actual Oma transformation came out of nowhere. Oh well, at least all of the Heisei Riders are back on their own separate worlds again, even though W through Ex-Aid were explicitly shown to coexist on numerous occasions. Hooray for whatever. |
