I still believe the show could benefit from one more episode, but this was an incredible penultimate episode. It fit in a lot without feeling super rushed.
Where to start? I love that Tsukasa is the one who creates the plan to defeat Schwarz. After all- Decade should know how to defeat himself. The scene where he talked to Sougo alone felt like a proper show of approval from Tsukasa. Junichiro is honestly the best character in the show. The scene where he met with Sougo, approving of him being a Rider and being supportive of him saving the world was just heartwarming. And we all know the broken RideWatches are in the box. That kind old man is going to save the entire Kamen Rider universe. The subtext in the episode is great. We know Sougo is going to have to die to save the world and Tsukuyomi as well - so his reactions, his motivations and words all reflect his inner turmoil. He accepts his demise but doesn't want to burden his friends with it. Meanwhile, Chase is struggling to comprehend that he used to be a Rider himself and had friends. In the end, he betrays his programming and saves Tsukuyomi, dying in the process. Just like in Drive before, he dies in the hands of another Rider, thankful to have comrades. True friends are worth dying for. It relates to Sougo well and as a result makes Mashin Chaser one of the more meaningful cameo appearances. BUT I hate that we had to see him die again. It was necessary but it doesn't make it any less painful. Then we have the action scenes. Loved to see Decade facing off against Another Decade and Diend turning the Time Jacker power against him. Great tag team complete with original Decade music. And this was probably the last time we'll see a proper transformation scene for Geiz and Woz, both characters I have come to enjoy watching, so it did feel a little melancholy. The Zi-O Trinity vs Oma Zi-O fight scene was as epic as I had hoped it to be. A little on the short side, sure, but the use of pyrotechnics and VFX made it stunning to watch. Plus, Sougo explaining how he is more powerful than Oma thanks to his friends further cements the theme of the episode. It's cool that Oma Zi-O accepts his younger self, just as Sougo finally accepts Oma Zi-O as his older version. And what a twist! Sougo sneaking Tsukuyomi a RideWatch in the past (future?) and inadvertently giving Geiz and Tsukuyomi the motivation to go back in time is a great callback to how the first half of the series operated. And then the unthinkable happens: Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi is real! This was a legitimate surprise and I was honestly ecstatic to see that her suit is original and doesn't seem obviously kitbashed. Plus the transformation sound effect is a complete throwback to a certain magical girl anime. I'm excited to see how this all ends. They've set it up rather well despite the show's shortcomings and I am legit unsure of how it will conclude. I just hope that by the end of it, they'll have time for one last cameo... Preferably someone from Kuuga... |

Just watching the raw version gave me tingles. I mean yeah, this has all been Decade hype and transitory Heisei era throwbacks for the show. It's been a touch wobbly in parts, but overall I feel they've done alright provided you completely ignore the logic of Another Worlds and Riders except as just a mechanic for powerups. Fight scenes were really well done in this episode.

Fighting evil by moonlight
Helping the Overlord by daylight Never running from a real fight! She is the one named Tsukuyomi! |
Kamen Rider Tsukuyomi looks like Kamen Rider Femme from afar, what with her being predominantly white and with a cape.
I really hope someone from Kuuga make a cameo on the final episode. I think every series was represented by someone except for Kuuga. Maybe Ichijo could make an appearance? Didn't his actor did something Kuuga related a while back? |
Enjoyed the episode a lot, as long as I don't try to think too much about the clusterf*ck Zi-O time manipulations are.
Tsukuyomi indeed look like Femme, which is a great and appreciable nod as she was one of my favorite Rider design (and even inspired one of my favorite yugioh cards). Her henshin jingle somehow sounds like a Sailor Moon song (the voice almost sounds like Kiryuin Sho, the Golden Bomber lead who sung Wizard opening but I know it's not) |
You know, all things considered with what Tsukasa mentioned at the beginning of the episode and the revelation we got last episode. My step by step of Swartz's plan alongside my theory that Decade was basically Swartz's doing starts holding a lot more weight. So I like this a lot.
Also from the sounds of it and the hints, seems like Tsukasa's plan is to create another Movie Wars 2010 situation with Sougo. |
