This was a very good two-parter that really played to this show's strengths, but I'd be lying if I said Wyzul offering Kreon that handkerchief wasn't the most emotional scene in the episode. I'm not even saying that to dump on the rest of the story. The drama with Asuna here definitely landed, it's cool to see Ui actually have a more substantial role, and I certainly appreciate seeing them address the mysterious masked man finally (even though it feels weird Towa and Bamba don't bring up that time they met him already to tie things together, but that's Ryusoulger's writing for you), but I'm just that much more invested in the bad guys in this show. Having Tankjoh back for a little bit like this was super fun.

Great episode. Lots happened but it didn't feel rushed. The plot had high stakes, the new debuts were great and the ending was a tearjerker.
Some really creative effects as well. The dimension Koh was sucked into in the beginning was brain-warping. Plus, the mech fight taking place between dimensions was really neat and original too. Cosmo form looks great and so did the mech iteration. I hope we still get to see Shine used on its own though. Interesting that ShineRaptor is a female. Comedy was really fun. I loved TankJoh's "Who are you" to Canalo during the fight scene and Wyzil offering a crying Kureon his handkerchief. In terms of character moments, we had a pretty good split between focus on Koh and Asuna. Koh basically got screentime to hog the power-up (cause this is modern Sentai) but Asuna got more character growth. It's hard to be mad about the power-up distribution because everyone uses different Ryusouls effectively and gets equal if not more focus than Red does. Asuna getting the final blow on TankJoh using Master Pink's sword was a nice ending to the battle. And the ending... I won't lie, I did tear up. Seeing Master Pink say encouraging words to Asuna and Ui's mother disappearing after reassuring her... Pretty heavy stuff, but Ryusoulger's strength has always been representing these themes in a positive and respectful light. Interesting about Seto; so his soul is inhabiting within Ui's father because it is the body he is most compatible with. However, he cannot remain in his body for extended periods of time. Expecting some good comedy to come out of this. |
Yeah the ending of the episode gave me the feels. Seeing Ui shed a single tear made me think what I'd do if my father came back. Probably take a picture with him as I regrettably do not have a single photo with him.
The fight with Tankjoh was pretty awesome. I really liked the choreography of that fight scene. And come on isn't Wyzul the coolest boss? Letting Kreon cry his little eyes out. And by the way, did Kreon make that Minusaur? How would he have managed to do that since Master Pink is dead? I hope that gets explained somehow. |
Wyzul is closing in on Bandora tier in terms of how nice he is to his underlings. I wanna see more stuff like that.

Ugh, it's not the cooking onions that made me cry. That scene....my heart.
Also, can we just identify that the powerups are a bit on the gaudy side? I mean, the mecha gets it right, but every time now someone dons a powered up form, it makes me wonder how the suit actors can even breathe with that much styrene on. |
I thought how the Cosmo Raptor combines with the Mecha looks dumb and a bit underwhelming.

Who does Ui's Mother and Master Pink? I know I've seen them before, and yet for some reason, I cannot place them!
