G-Fesuto!
Alright, registration hasn't opened yet, but three guests have been announced and hype is already building on other boards, so I figured now's a good of a time as any to start a thread for G-Fest XIX.
For those who don't know, G-Fest is an annual Kaiju convention held here in Chicago, created by the team behind G-Fan magazine. It's been going for 19 years and has always managed to be a fantastic show. Great atmosphere, tons to do, and, of course, shit tons of toys. It is the only convention I attend regularly (nothing personal just finances) and this will be my 9th consecutive year. While the focus is on Kaiju, it's been expanding to include other tokusatasu in recent years. Mainly Ultraman, but there's definitely growing interest in other franchises as Godzilla remains dormant for the time being. So, anyone else going? Have any interest in going? |

...Not that that's much better. If it's distance, though, yeah, can't say I blame you. Like I said, it's the main reason I don't go to many conventions myself. |

Oh man... if I was still living in the midwest I'd definitely join in on the fun. Unfortunately there are way too many bigger cons to go to, as well as life duties. Have a great time, and I'm looking forward for your report!

Damn, been a while since I've been around here. Anyway, I finally just registered today. Registration is still open as of this posting and will likely stay that way until at least mid-June, seeing as the con is kinda late this year (July 13-15, as opposed to the July 4 weekend of past years).
No more announcements yet, sadly. Just the guests. |
Despite the stagnation in this thread, I'm gonna keep posting updates.
The film lineup (with the exception of Saturday) has been announced, and it is awesome. That's all that's new, aside from a dealer list I didn't notice before, but seriously, look at that lineup. O'Brien and Harryhausen back-to-back, goddamit. |
Schedule is up, and the final film has been announced: Godzilla vs. Destoroyah. Been a while since I've seen that one, so I'll definitely be going.
Panels are looking good for the most part. Not a whole lot I'm interested in this year, but certainly enough. Also, for anyone in the area who's interested in Svengoolie, he'll be there on Saturday from 1-3. I think that the whole con is open to the public for viewing at that time, but I could be wrong. |
