Original source was The Mirror, and it's since been reported more widely without any pushback beyond "BBC Studios declined to comment".

I kinda thought that the reception for the animation was split; it's a good idea, but the execution was perhaps wonky.
Isn't "Galaxy 4" scheduled for the Spring? I don't know if it's animated/partially animated, but it's coming to disc later on.
At least in the UK, it's been out for a few months! The only one currently announced that remains unreleased is "The Abominable Snowman".
As far as exucution goes, it's certainly not the finest animation in the world, but it does the job pretty well. And it's definitely improved over time, probably because they can reuse certain assets from previous productions. Except the CGI Web of Fear, that was bizarre.

Yeah! They've been reanimating missing episodes since 2016 or so, and have been releasing on a slowly increasing scale up to pretty recrently. Evil of the Daleks and Galaxy Four were pretty recent, and Abominable Snowmen is coming in some amount of time. These aren't animation original stories, they use the audio track from the original 60's episode, and use 2D animation to try and recreate the episode. It's not exact, some episodes take more liberties than others, but it was a nice way to try and expand the impact of some more unknown 60's stories, because recaps and recons aren't exactly the easiest thing to explain to a casual fan.
