Watch out for Bones - he'll make you a spineless coward!
The
Power Rangers Dino Charge
five-inch toy line continues on with more villains! This is an important event in the franchise's toy line history as this is the first time in nearly a decade or so since we've received various "monsters of the day" as actual action figures. With these figures trickling out we managed to grab them all - and we're going to review each and every single one of them!
The Figure
Let's just start off with what everyone is curious about - articulation.
Bones
features 6.250 points of articulation. His arms move up, down, forward, and backwards. He has two shin joints that allow for 360 degree movement. And the ".250" comes from the head as it does move but due to the shoulder gear only about 5 to 10 degrees in either direction.
However this figure is
absolutely gorgeous
. The sheer amount of detailing in the mold is astounding. Could it be better? Yeah, if it was a
S.H. Figuart
probably. But for
Bandai America
this thing is as close to masterpiece sculpting as you'll ever see. The head sculpt is damn impressive, to the point that the red eyes even have black pupils put on.
What this figure lacks in articulation it absolutely makes up in how it looks. It is easily one of the most impressive looking figures out of
Bandai America
in the last 5 years if not longer.
The Accessory
Bones
comes with his bucket'o'bones, minus the bones. When he pulls out someone's backbone it goes in to this bucket. It is highly detailed (but not painted) and aside from a piece or two of leftover melted plastic it looks fantastic. I was half tempted during the gallery to rip off some
Vivix
body parts and put them in there for show. The bucket attaches via a rough 3 to 4mm peg (not a 5mm peg) and can spin all around.
The Good!
Hands down beautiful sculpting
Did we mention the beautiful sculpting?
Seriously, this figure just LOOKS like a badass!
The Not So Good!
Head articulation severely limited by all the shoulder and neck armor
No bicep hinge severely limits already limited posability
The Conclusion
I absolutely love this guy. While he doesn't have anything to write home about in regards to articulation, he's just fun as hell to mess around with. He looks badass, kind of like if
Skeletor
put on a robe, some real shoulder pads, and decided to go for a walk around
Amber Beach
. I can't recommend this figure enough. You aren't going to strike any cool poses but then again you don't have to - this guy is just cool standing absolutely straight!
