Personally speaking:
Some of my recommendations:
Kamen Rider Kuuga (Has a very X Files feeling, honestly no show has the same grit or feek)
Kamen Rider Blade (Beginning is rather slow but it picks up pretty fast)
Kamen Rider Kabuto (Honestly the best looking Rider show and while Tendou is a controversial protagonist I feel that Kabuto's cast is the strongest part of it)
Kamen Rider W (I feel it's only real issue is bad CGI which let's be real is a staple for toku outside of Ultraman these days)
Kamen Rider OOO (Lots of heart and knows how to handle it's cast, though the subtitles available aren't the best)
Kamen Rider Fourze (Very heartfelt season, knew what it wanted to do and did it very well as far as I'm concerned)
Kamen Rider Build (Fantastic writing that is able to both tell harsh messages and find a way to make you laugh with the comedy scenes)
Bakuryu Sentai Abaranger (Mostly dumb fun but it has one of the most unique dynamics for the Sixth Ranger and the main villain is incredibly dark in terms of concept)
Jyuden Sentai Gekiranger (Easily the best Sentai I've seen when it comes to the story, good action, characters and writing outside of the elephant character)
Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (While it's an anniversary season, you can enjoy it and understand what makes Sentai special with it. Fair warning though, it does spoil Jetman's ending if you plan on watching that)
Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger (Despite what people will tell you about this the show has a loveable cast who's a joy to watch while there's plenty of fun gags throughout the show)
Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger (Rather basic and has issues with it's plot, but the cast really sells it, having a very unique Sixth and was what I started Sentai with)
GARO, original series (As it's made specifically for a mature audience it feels very different from the shows previously listed. Also, nudity warning and such)
Ultraman Orb (Very strongly written show which had amazing visuals and memorable scenes)
Shows to avoid though? Uhhhhh, here's the shows that I didn't like
Choujin Sentai Jetman (I dropped it halfway through out of disinterest and it's uhhhhhh very obviously a product of it's time with how it handled stuff like Gai imo)
Kamen Rider Faiz (Honestly I don't remember anything of it but it's writing is infamous)
Kamen Rider Decade (It's an anniversary season but made different versions. I'm fine with the decision but I couldn't enjoy it. Tsukasa, the protagonist is a hoot though and toku fans on twitter seem to love him)
Kamen Rider Gaim (I feel Gaim completely misses the mark of what Kamen Rider means as the writer didn't truly grasp what made his favourite show Ryuki what it is, I feel the only reason people say they love Gaim is because "Ooooh it's DARK and GRIM and EDGY! Not like those BABY Rider shows! This one is SERIOUS!")
Kamen Rider Ghost (I couldn't care about anything but I dropped it after episode 17 or so, considering the episodic nature I'm inclined to try it again as I saw it while it was airing)
Shuriken Sentai Ninninger (This show had good promise but it's need to focus on Red Ranger constantly hurt the show as it went against it's own messages as unlike Kyoryuger the other rangers rarely seemed to get any screen time. I dropped it around episode 30 or so out of boredom. That being said it had a surprisingly strong message about anxiety in one episode)
Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger (Two words: Missed Potential. The two team gimmick was exciting but the show got desperate because of toy sales being lacking and focused almost exclusively on the Lupinrangers which is a shame because the Patrangers were rather loveable despite rarely being allowed to do anything)
I'm not an expert on all of these though, there's still so much more to potentially watch, even outside of Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Ultraman, the Metal Heroes franchise in particular is highly praised too and there's a LOT of stuff worth watching before the 2000's which I haven't been able to get to
