too
in-depth on my overall thoughts, because I seriously need to give myself a break sometimes, but as is apparent from what posts I did make throughout, I feel this is a genuinely fantastic series, and I'm genuinely grateful to GrandComplete for making this thread, because I'd almost certainly still be sleeping on it otherwise. If me talking about Kuuga in any way lead to this, well then that's just one more reason I'm glad I made that thread.
It started out pretty casual; speaking very personally, I think a huge part of the fun for me at first was simply the nostalgic feeling of watching tokusatsu in a foreign language, which Japanese only kinda feels like anymore with how much I've surrounded myself with it.
But yeah, for me too, somewhere along the line, Legend Heroes became much more than that, and I realized how much I was being entertained by it entirely on its own merits. It's a series clearly made with a ton of heart that surprised me with its legitimate storytelling chops and strong grasp on what makes a hero tokusatsu show click. It's blatantly aping a number of other shows, but it's doing it intelligently and in a way where the end result is something truly unique.
This show made me laugh, it warmed my heart, broke it a few times, kept me on the edge of my seat throughout, and it even educated me a little bit, as weird as that is to say! I had an epiphany about how much of an impact Legend Heroes has made on me a few weeks back. See, I'm as big a fan of Gundam as I am of tokusatsu, and had been sleeping on the recent SD Gundam World series because the whole Three Kingdoms theme was something I wasn't familiar with that didn't hold any appeal to me... but then it suddenly hit me that, uh,
that's not exactly true anymore!
Which lead to me finally watching Sangoku Soketsuden, so that's actually
two
shows this thread has gotten me to watch! (And while I'm on the subject, if anyone else would like their Three Kingdoms fix with cute but cool robots,
that's
also
freely available on YouTube subbed in multiple languages!
)
So that whole experience was something of an affirmation of how much I'd gotten out of deciding to hop on this train nearly a year ago. I'm pretty sure I'd never heard of this show beforehand and now it's something I can't believe used to not be in my life. Thanks again for making this thread, and for having the dedication to see it through to the end.
Given your other posts, I gotta know, what did you think of Cao Cao's' journey? Did he still remain your favorite by the end?
