Or would someone like to explain how the Megaranger helmets are SOOOO different from each other.
The difference is Megaranger's costumes were all about simplicity. It made sense that their helmets would all look similar because the aesthetic was very minimalist. Their helmets had almost zero sculpted detail. When detail is so sparse, having such a small difference the visor sides be different shapes stands out way more. A lone black dot in a blank white canvas is far easier to notice than a black dot in a sea of black dots. Same thing with the Timeranger helmets. The
only
difference on those is the shape of the arrow/clock hand, but because that's basically all there is to the helmets due to their simplicity, it really stands out and makes the rangers all look different.
There's nothing minimalist about these designs, so the similar helmets make no sense. Every visor has two spikes jutting in from the side, and a random point in the center, and nondescript detail all over. They're all just variants on the same design so much so that you could be forgiven for thinking they were all concepts of eahc other if they weren't in colour. None of the helmets have anything to do with their animals. There's no focal points or distinct details, everything blends around the same basic design except for
possibly
red, but that's only because his visor is so much smaller.
It's design 101. The more surface detail you add, the more important the silhouette becomes. With so much detail these helmets really needed to look different from each other in big ways like the original MMPR helmets. I doubt the average person would be able to tell the non-red helmet's are even
meant
to be different physically.
