Negative. This is from an internal leak. Toys'R'Us went on record stating they are not ready to announce any plans and are currently working on maximizing sales through the Holiday season.

- Could closing some of the stores help with their economic situation, hopefully leading to a revival in the brand?
Yes. By closing non-profitable stores it would allocate more money to the profitable stores. KB Toys did this back when they went through the same obstacles in 2004 (I can't remember the year) before declaring Chapter 7 in 2007.

- If the chain goes "belly-up", could someone else cover the gap and replace them as a national toy mecca?
Most likely not. The toy industry is fading and has been fading with the popularity of video games. To top it off, online retailers are also taking big chunks out of brick and mortar stores, signaling (IMO) an eventual end to brick and mortar stores for everything except, say, groceries.

- Given the enormous influx of products not found ANYWHERE ELSE and EXCLUSIVES...who will be left to market them?
You'd see Wal-Mart continue to pick up some, and possibly Target. Chances are most exclusives would end up at online retailers if it's lucrative enough, which honestly, I don't see. Obviously BBTS charges an uptick and that's to offset the price of which they're buying the item at, which causes it to be significantly higher than retail.
