(note: Ika Tenkuu Buster is left off the poll because I've already hit the limit and if I had to leave one out, it would be this one)
ShinkenOh ShinkenOh is a neat take on a samurai themed mecha. Given that we already have Battle Fever Robo which was very blatantly samurai themed, I suppose they wanted ShinkenOh to stick out from that while still having a basis in Japanese culture which is probably how we got the concept of the Origamis. The Origamis are quite ambitious designs since they each have 3 forms. They are pretty cool in that regard. As a result of this whole origami theme, ShinkenOh has a very angular, almost jagged look to it with the amount of straight lines and 90 degree angles it has. It's still rather cohesive though, thanks to the strong proportions. It also conveys the samurai/shogun like look rather well, mostly due to the ginormous helmet. It is rather nice looking though I do think it could be shrunken down just a tad. All in all, ShinkenOh is a nice main mecha. Kabuto/Kajiki/Tora ShinkenOh These three auxiliary combinations for ShinkenOh are major components of the next combination so I want to cover them in one section. Plus they all similarly consist of new helmets with minor additions to the body, which is a bit more visually distinct than say the usual arm swap. Kabuto Origami combination stands out a bit since unlike the other two, it adds pieces to the arms rather than to the back which is nice. However I think it has the worst looking helmet of the three due to how freakishly huge it is, though the way it incorporates into the finisher is cool. Kajiki Origami combination is okay. The problem is you can't really see the backpack from the front, so the only thing visibly new is the helmet which does look nice. If they made the split fin on the back just a little larger, I think it could add to the silhouette of this form. Tora Origami I think has the best combination of the three. It has the best looking helmet and the drill backpack adds an imposing silhouette. DaiTenkuu/Tenkuu ShinkenOh So DaiTenkuu, the combination of Kabuto, Kajiki and Tora Origami. Going to be honest, it's a little dumb. I applaud what they were going for and the attempt but this barely looks like a bird, let alone something that could actually fly. And given how monstrous DaiTenkuu looks, you'll be shocked to find out how simplistic it's combination with ShinkenOh is. It's just a giant wing pack, that's it. The additions aren't impressive either, the drills on the chest do nothing and helmet is just Tora which admittedly I thought was the best of the initial three. Suffice to say, it isn't very impressive. Ika ShinkenOh A rather simple armament upgrade for ShinkenOh. It works but it certainly isn't as exciting as the other armament combinations. Still, it isn't too bad of an upgrade. DaiKaiOh DaiKaiOh is pretty neat. I believe this is the first time we had a lobster themed mecha which is pretty cool. The gold and navy is spread beautifully across the whole mecha. The face spinning gimmick is pretty unique and the various different forms are also cool. If there was any qualms I had with it, I think the center jewel could have also changed colour depending on the form, it would help give each of them their own identity. Also, I think the face of the Kita form would look better if it had the some purple to fit in with Ika Origami. Otherwise, DaiKaiOh is a fine sixth ranger mecha. DaiKai-ShinkenOh I quite like this combination, despite the fact that it more or less is just the top half of DaiKaiOh combined with the bottom half of ShinkenOh. Okay, that is an oversimplification, since each half do have a number of additional parts added to them. Obviously there's the new head which is quite large with those gigantic horns. The shield is now the new chest piece which does help to differentiate it from DaiKaiOh. The leg additions do look a little odd but I don't mind them. The only issue I have with the combination is that Shishi, Kame and Saru just sort of hang off the back. They tried to re-purpose Kame and Saru as sword holsters which is a nice attempt but for the most part, they are just kibble. Excluding that, this combination is cool. Ika Tenkuu Buster I suppose I should also cover this technically is its own combination. Essentially re-purposes DaiTenkuu as a giant cannon. Doesn't entirely look like one but I think I'll take it over the "bird" form. MouGyuuDaiOh Our final standalone mecha. It's big, it's bulky, it's quite nice looking. It's probably the most traditional looking out of all the Shinkenger mechas since it mostly consist of big blocky proportions, which given the story reason of it being the first Origami, kinda makes sense. The giant horns help add a bit more character to the design in addition to just looking really intimidating. The Ushi Origami forms is okay, it's an ox pulling a gissha. Fits with the theme, so no problems there. The transformation between the Ushi Origami form and the mecha form is rather basic though. All it does is stand up, attack the arms and open the faceplate. But given the electronics in the toy as well as the other thing it has to do, I suppose the designers had to be constraint on the transformation. But what is that other thing it has to do? Well........ SamuraiHaOh The other clusterf*** mecha that everyone thinks about right after Engine-Oh G12. This is less a humanoid mecha and more like an overly designed robot standing on an overly designed throne. Either way, it's still pretty nuts. Now the additions to DaiKai ShinkenOh are admittedly kinda neat. There's the new chest design, the katanas from Ebi Origami are added to the head making it have more horns, we've added on MouGyuuDaiOh arms along with the Tora drills which makes them look really powerful, and we've brought back ShinkenOh sword, cause why not. Then however you get to the rest of the mecha where they basically stuck everything else that they had on to MouGyuuDaiOh. It's kind of a mess, I mean you've got lobster arms sticking out from the back, DaiTenkuu wings just jutting out from the side, Kame and Saru are just stuck on the bottom, it's complete and totally nonsense. That's the best way to describe SamuraiHaOh, it's nonsense. Whether you take that as a good thing or a bad thing is up to you Daigoyou Daigoyou is a neat little guy. I mean it is just a paper lantern with arms but there's something charming about that simplicity. Proportionally, he looks fine and the abundance of blue help complement the mostly red chest. The ability to swap with ShinkenOh limbs is a cool bonus. Kyoryu ShinkenOh The movie mecha of Shinkenger. The Kyoryu Origami is rather interesting since it serves double duty as a weapon for the Shinkengers while at the same time being able to combine with ShinkenOh. The result of said combination is nice. The new helmet isn't very spectacular though I do like that it has colour s of the 5 main Shinkengers. Really the big highlight is the Kyoryuto which is probably the biggest weapon ShinkenOh has wielded. |

Biased towards Ultrazord combinations so Haoh/Gigazord takes it for me.
(Unfortunately I accidentally selected the wrong choice on the poll and voted for Kyoryu Shinkenoh/Shark Megazord instead, so please disregard my misclick and treat my selection as for Gigazord)

The whole aesthetic of this show never really gelled with me, the suits are decent but I can’t stand most the mecha. My favorite is probably Mougyuudaioh, but even then I’m really not a fan of it’s head.

I like Shinken Oh alone, but the rest are all just too cluttered and messy. MouGyuDaiOh is also alright, but I think that's a result of it being so basic in what it has to do later on that they couldn't mess it up by making it overly detailed or complicated.
I have a big problem with it's combination with the lobster origami, by having 3 of the mecha just hanging off the back is rather disappointing. I wish they could have better integrated them. Even in their final combo, the lion origami is still just hanging off the back, with the turtle and monkey now just attaching to the wheels of HaOh. Still, the base robot design is cool, and I like the Origami gimmick.

Overall the whole karakuri look they got going on is fine. In retrospect Samurai Haoh is overtly cluttery though I can appreciate the shrine concept it got going for it so not a total loss. Personal favorites are the basic Shinkenoh, Kajiki Shinkenoh, Daigoyo, Daikai Shinkenoh and Kyoryu Shinkenoh.

I think Shurikenjin HaOh did the shrine idea better than Samurai HaOh.

Yeah, it is more straight-forward. It literally is a dude dressed as a dude disguised as another dude.
