From what we've read of episode summaries, the entire story line of Joe trying to improve his swordsmanship to defeat the monster is being shoved in to one 22 minute episode of Super Megaforce. In fact, most of the multi-part stories from Gokaiger are being shoved in to one episode of Super Megaforce, or skipped altogether.
There's an upcoming episode 2 or 3 parter with the Hurricangers and Gokaigers (aka Ninja Storm and Super Megaforce) ... but that entire thing is being skipped as they didn't invite back the actors for it. Kyoryuger is actually pretty good. I'm giving it a second chance and going through the earlier episodes now and am enjoying it quite a bit. I'll take your word on Kyoryuger though. I do wanna see where it goes from where the first ep left off. |

On an unrelated note, now that the semester is over and I have more free time, I'm catching up on my backlog, including the last several subbed episodes of Kakuranger. I'm two-thirds of the way through the Daradara storyline and it is really awesome. Last edited by Switchblade; 12-23-2013 at 02:25 AM.. |

Oh guys, you really don't get the point of this episode, do you?
This episode marks the difference between the Goseigers and GoseiKnight. While GoseiKnight only cares about the enemy, Eri cares about every single person's happines. Besides, this episode also conveys the message Goseiger has. The Goseigers' duty is more than saving the planet. It's to give people happiness. I feel it's kinda motivating that Eri does her best in making one person smile with something only she can do. Besides, she doesn't say she doesn't care about what happens to earth. She joins the team as soon as she can- because she was sure that everyone would do their best to fight the Yuumajuu while she keeps her promise. Eri is literally choosing one boy over millions of others. Eri abandoning the team to bake a cake tells us she places the emotions of this one boy over the life of another, which for a team of defenders, is hard to swallow for the viewer. I enjoyed Goseiger, but there is no way this episode did anything but prove that Eri is an airhead.

I think that cake episode highlighted probably the one thing I dislike about Goseiger, the budget betrays the concepts. Goseiger puts in WAY more effort than most Sentai to make things feel big and threatening. Quite a lot of the battles have convinced me that if not the whole planet is in danger, the fight is at least larger than the space of an abandoned warehouse.
The only problem is, with budgetary tightness, the bigger the conflict the more humanity Goseiger looses. So when they try reigning in the story to bring the human aspect back in amongst all the exploding cardboard buildings, it makes the Goseigers come across as oddly selfish and bizarrely narrow minded. Another episode that springs to mind, that suffers similar issues, is that one where that electric Warstar effects the electricity of the entire city. However the focus of all these goings on, is entirely on a SINGLE surgery. If we just take into account the impact of the loss of power just in the single hospital, the death toll would be devastating. But that isn't taking into account cities have multiple hospitals, whole countries probably have hundreds, the world probably has millions and with our world centring around electricity there would be a wider impact than hospitals. And I know someone is going to tell me I'm missing the point or something, but all I'm trying to say, is I admire Goseiger attempting to address the bigger picture but due to what they have to work with, it actually works in their detriment. After three days away, I can't wait to watch more either way.

Epic 22.
I like how they made a cool episode even though Swirl looked so shit. The CGI stuff is kinda weak on Goseiger but I think when a suit is so limiting the actor can basically only move their hands, it works better to just animate his attacks rather than having the suit pathetically waddling at the rangers at 0.01 miles per decade. I feel kind conflicted on the message though because I don't think we were supposed to side with Gosei Knight as he himself sided with the Angels by the end, but I felt he made a good points. As far as stacked Robos go, Ground Great wasn't all that bad, it was mostly tightly packed so it limited the amount of flimsy wobbling but his movement was still extremely limited so it looked a little awkward in action.

Gokaiger 6-8
So there was a character development ep for Luka, Ahim ad Doc get trained by Gekired, and two goofball monsters discover what the Gokaigers are seeking on Earth. Found out that Luka used to live in poverty with several kids before she became a pirate, which explains her greed, when it comes to treasure. Still ice of her to help that family find the true meaning of, uh, family. So Gekired was literally raised by tigers? Well considering, his master appears to be a cat, I guess that's not all too strange. Ayway, they got the Gekirager powers ad Doc and Ahi learned to fight better hand to hand. Not much else to say on this ep...except one thing that kinda goes for all of these eps: I really like Gokaiger's monsters. Designs, personalities ad whatever. The martial artist monster especially ad how Warz Gill kept messing up his name. I sorta hope they give Warz Gill a similar personality in Super Megaforce, though give his antics that's probably one of my more likely wishes for that season. And the twin mosnters form eight were pretty funy too. Eight showed s some of the Gokaiger's background stories. Ahim's reminds me of Summer's from RPM sorta. Joe's is pretty interesting. Wonder what made him betray the Zangyack. Now they just kinda brush off Doc as a joke, but I wonder if it really is or if it's something more important. |

Just finished episode #45 of Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. It was so great to see Tsuruhime (Satomi Hirose) from Kakuranger again.

After watching so many flicks over the last couple of days, I thought I'd take a break and check out Epic 23 of Goseiger.
The episode was pretty dumb, but as ever with Goseiger, even in kinda crappy filler the action is still stellar. Plus there were quite a few moments that had me laughing out loud. I loved it when the enemy moved so fast it was like the Goseigers were moving in slow motion. It's just a shame it was wasted on such a crap villain. And I will always love just how much more personality the Goseiger's seem to have when the suit actors take over. Especially Agri, I love the character but just the way he moves and acts in suit, it's just so cool. Plus woo Hyde focus, he's probably the best character after Alata.
