So now that Gaim is over I decided to order Safari Gaoh as my first Toq-toy as I was curious about it and movie toys tend to sell fast. In the excitement over ordering it I decided I wanted to pick up some more of the line to go with it. Bear in mind I'm more a player than a displayer. Should my next purchase be:
Toq-Oh: +Gets a significant focus in the show in both robot and train form +Part swapping opportunities with Gaoh - Looks weird in robot mode to me - Seems a little redundant with Safari Gaoh being a retool and all. Diesel-Oh - Doesn't look great to me in either mode +Comes with two support Ressha that would work with Safari Gaoh +Is the basis for the combinations -But the combinations don't look that great either Buil-Daioh +Looks pretty cool in both modes - Doesn't have any real meaningful cross-play possibility with Safari-Gaoh besides fist-swapping and a longer train. Police Ressha and some legendary Resshas +That gun and handcuff combo is pretty sweet +I also like a lot of past Sentai series - They don't have a robot mode of their own. I'd appreciate the opinions of anyone who has these toys already! Also on an unrelated note is the Claw Ressha with Telebi-kun magazine worth it? Some of my local J-bookstores might still have it but I understand the digger part doesn't work so without the roleplay toys it basically looks to be just a functionless train or a functionless mech fist. |

Build DaiOh is cool, but I think you'll need Diesel to go with him. I don't own Diesel and Build is a little bit simple on his own, since he has no combinations with Safari or ToQ. The cheap option is to get the legendary Resshas, since they're compatible with Safari. I can't vouch though, since I don't own any.

Having just gotten them I would recommend Police and Fire Ressha to you. They are really cool toys that would enhance the playability of your Safari GaOh. Plus they are nice standalone trains with some nice added playability that is lacking from trains like Car Carrier or Tank.
Since Safari is like you mentioned jsut a retool of ToQ-Oh every train works with him the same way it would with ToQ-Oh. So if you get Diesel and Build Dai-Oh you could form Chou Chou Safari Dai-GaOh or stuff like that Last edited by ElConvoy; 10-09-2014 at 09:38 AM.. |

Good call, though from a review video I saw it looks like Safari Gaoh's smokestack is too high for Chou Chou Safari Dai-Gaoh to be properly formed unfortunately.

The Claw Ressha is pretty useless if you don't have a mecha to put it on, but it's not very expensive, so you can get it as an alternate display option. Not essential in any way IMO...
