Actually, it's really only been a major thing since 2005. The earlier Heisei shows were much more serialized and the Showa era was mostly done-in-ones with the occasional two-parter (aside from early V3, which was almost all two-parters for the first 15-20 episodes).

Airi's actress was really good in this episode, she had me convinced she was a completely different person than the sweet if sometimes naive girl we know from Den-O. I actually thought she was a phantom before we saw the actual one, thinking she went after men to raise their hopes only to crush them and send them into despair (yeah, forgot about the whole Gate thing for a moment there). The actual phantom was pretty cool though.

Not a bad episode, although like Den-O said it did feel a little padded in places. Someone needs to put the Sonic Colours drill theme to that Land Style sequence too

A good episode, although it does feel like it should be shorter than it actually is. I'd like to see more of the backstory for that Airi actress and I have a feeling her story will be more fleshed out next ep. Also Koyomi only got 2 mins of screen time out of the entire episode. NEED MORE KOYOMI!!

I'm actually all for this. Setting aside my disdain for Koyumi, Wizard doesn't have the need to shoehorn in every character into every episode. While I doubt we're gonna go an episode without Rinko (I'm still rather positive Shunpei will become part of the background once Beast shows up), it's still nice.

Not bad, really. It's all set-up for wacky comedy, but I credit Wizard for giving us someone so unlikeable and yet still needing to be saved.

The monster of the fortnight is also pretty cool as well--even if he comes off as a less coked out Weather Dopant at times.

Also cool to see some of the other element forms getting some play.

Nice episode, but I'm not a fan of how air-style moves in the air. It should be acrobatic and fluid, not a standing person moving through the sky. Based on what I've seen from other shows they can do things like that, so I don't see why it's an issue here. Aside from that though, I loved it. Especially Haruto's reaction when his donuts got crushed.
