Next episode, it looks like they go all in with Gaim. I'm surprised they keep both Kouta and Baron's return a secret despite all the filming leaks. It might be one episode since we need to hurry to pace since the next quarter of toys shows we might be ditching tributes and legend powers in favoring of Zio as his own show. I guess no more gokaiger like cameo from toku vet. Last edited by VoidinToku; 11-13-2018 at 09:05 AM.. |

Hey everyone, guess what time it is!
Time for me to praise the heck out of whatever genius thought to replace the pictures on OOO's chest with more katakana. None of the other Ride Armors so far have designs anywhere near this clever. I love it. I loved the episode a bit less, but they did a pretty great job with certain elements. Eiji is definitely the best guest star we've gotten yet. He gets a good amount of screen time, acts very much like himself, and even directly teaches Sougo a lesson he learned in his own series... which, of course, in this version of history didn't happen, but that's fine. Maybe becoming a politician led to similar character development, right? At the end of the day I don't think there's much point in critiquing the time travel logic in this show unless they seriously mess something up. On the flipside, however, KurotOOO's was just lame here. It feels like they already had their fun with him last episode and he's only still around because the plot needs to be wrapped up. I mean, Woz straight up tells him at the end he was only useful as a dude for Zi-O to beat up. I appreciate that they probably wanted to make sure he didn't detract from Eiji's role, since he was the one who didn't get anything to do last time, but something about the way the plot petered out here felt a bit off. As for Sougo's Kabuto-esque "betrayal", I think they did a solid enough job justifying it. Sure, anyone with a brain probably wouldn't need to go to such lengths to find out "egomaniacal madman = bad king", but like I talked about in the thread for the last episode, Sougo being a bit "off" when it comes to things like that is reasonably in character for him. More important to me is that rather than just brushing off this incident as another wacky adventure, we actually see this has a lasting effect on Geiz, and even if he'll be back with everybody soon, him walking off is an interesting development. All in all this episode was something of a mixed bag, but I definitely had fun with it.

I think Sougo might be the most unintentionally creepy protagonist in Kamen Rider. He doesn't show much emotion than just a smiley face, even when he's about to fight someone.
Anyway, Fruit Jesus & Bananaman next episode. |

I think that my prediction of Woz being bad is going to come true. I bet he'll wait til Sougo gets all of the ride watches then will steal them all for himself then Sougo and Geiz will have to get them back.

For some reason, Sougo is really growing on me. At first, I just thought he was incredibly naive (and he still is). But he's also just weirdly cheerful all the time. It's pretty fun to watch, if I'm being honest.
Woz, however, continues to be my favorite character in the show. He's probably the best hype man you could ever have, and I love him casually talking shit to Kuroking at the end.

That was weak. I was expecting a change up with nitou. However, the wizard tribute feel like a real wizard episode in term of style and tone. For ooo, they tried too hard to pay tribute to the plot and kind of develop the characters and further the plot of the show itself. First, they try to tied in egoistic Dan's quest for domination as king because of his god complex with a forced Ooo's king theme to justify Sogo's dream of becoming a king one day. It sounds good on paper, but when was the last time Eiji was reference as wanting to become king other than the first Ooo was a king and "king" is the name of his rider. Also, the Sogo's plan is to learn what not to do as king from Dan. I keep getting the No shit vibe when he say that. Dan and the toys stole the show from Eiji and Hina. There's some nice call back to super strength hina and Eiji failing to save a kid in Africa, but he got the weakest guest appearance in term of the screen time he gets. Build and Beast were just fan service cameos to me. Eiji just feel out of olace to me. I guess without his quest to revive ankh and the ooo experience, his dad forced him to become a politician to fulfill his other "dream" in doing good, but with ulterior purpose instead of living like a homeless hobo.
Next episode, it looks like they go all in with Gaim. I'm surprised they keep both Kouta and Baron's return a secret despite all the filming leaks. I guess no more gokaiger like cameo from toku vet. I'd still say Fourze was best in that it showed the world and tone of the show really well. Gaim tho', can't wait. I'm glad the break got in the way earlier than later so much now. |

Loved it.
And that Time Mazin Tajador vs Castle Doran was extra inspired considering the design history relation between Tajador and Kiva. The cheekiness of this series certainly really plays well to its strengths, and really looking forward to the story developments too. The growth and detail oriented aspects are really building to some interesting payoffs. Really like how it plays up Sougo as empathetic and wanting to talk things out first without jumping to conclusions too. Interesting how it's starting to play towards bringing Tsukuyomi around to that now too, whereas Geiz is hellbent on his own path. Last edited by Librarian; 11-14-2018 at 02:58 AM.. |

I liked this episode a lot more than the previous one. I really wish I could stop running so hot and cold on Sougo and just settle on an opinion about the guy. I loved Eiji, though. It sucks that he didn't transform or anything, but I liked how it feels like he really taught Sougo something. I think he's probably been my favorite cameo so far.

I think Geiz will join the Time Jackers if he wants the future saved.
Hope someday he'll find out who Oma Zi-O really is. If it's someone else, or if Sougo really claims of changing his fate. |
