Maybe I'm missing something, but to me they look identical aside from better proportions and articulation. All the paint apps are the same, they don't have any extra hollow bits, they don't seem to be missing functionality. What makes them not as cool as the Bandai DX ones?
I distinctly remember when they were first shown in that fan first thing, and I was freaking out about the megazord having elbows and ankles and a ball jointed neck, which I'm pretty sure no standard megazord toy has had before. Basically Transformers articulation. (Edit: I completely missed that you already mentioned the articulation. Oops) Also, I like how they set up the other two boxes. Gives the smaller zords something to do aside from sticking onto the t-rex.

They also have more surface detail, which in this case I really like.

Also the fact that in the five zord combination, you can at least move the sword up more than the Japanese version.

I'm reserving judgement until I get a feel for them in hand and out of the box. I think they'll be fun and unique in their own right. As long as we keep comparing Western variants with the Bandai originals, there will always be a sense of disappointment!
What I do wonder about is "Zord Link" and whether this will be the spiritual successor to Bandai USA's "Zord-Builder"!? I don't see any possibility of Ryusoulger/Dino Fury designs interacting with the Zords of a future P.R. season, but I do wonder if "Zord Link" could become a blanket phrase used from one season to the next, ultimately referring to that season's interconnectivity as opposed to the cross-connectivity of the old "Zord-Builder" System! |

Check the Amazon Pack which includes all five. The promotional images also give us a better look at some of the alternate formations, including Warrior Formation (Kishiryuoh Five Knights).

Okay, now I'm wondering why every product picture of the T-Rex zord's Megazord mode has that one tiger piece on it.

That Ankylo/Tiger chimeric-looking thing reminds me of the recent Cats movie.

Obviously, it's cool that the Hasbro ones have better articulation, but I'm just not sold on the aesthetic. Maybe it's just Hasbro's awful product photography -- I could be swayed once I see these in action -- but so far they just don't look appealing to me.
