Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. I guess that's a pretty apt metaphor for Taiya and Chassirou buying in to Mira's totally non-existent decoy plan. While the outcome is good, the motivation reminds me of the problem from Episode 1, that the whole transporting stuff seems to take priority over real heroism. Like, the Clock Automonster actually destroyed some moving cars, which leaves a dark implication of what were inside them. Surely defeating him should be more important than Mira delivering her namesake item (the mirror, not the clock)?
The writing also feels a little first-drafty sometimes, which I notice often with Taiya's lines. He delivers them more plainly than I'd expect, like, for example, when he asks Chassirou if he's glad that Mira is on the team. The question sounds rhetorical, but then Chassirou answers it honestly with his own opinion and that even though he doesn't have faith in Mira, he does have faith in Taiya's judgment. In this scenario, that means Taiya having faith in the stopped clock, since Mira's mind was entirely elsewhere. Taiya's a weirdly written character, basically. Not sure about others' thoughts on this, since nobody else commented last week, but I hope Jou and Genba join the team soon so we can see some more interesting dynamics. I doubt the first core 3 will be enough to carry the show for too long at this rate. At least give me an episode that shows exactly why Chassirou believes in Taiya so much. There's clearly a backstory between those two but I need to see more of that.
