Some highlights from more of Shirakura's interview with Asahi Shimbun:

- Gavan Infinity is a hard reboot and will not be connected to the original Gavan at all, but will carry over the metallic suit design and battles in hyperspace.

- Giant robot battles will return, in a similar style to Sentai mecha fights.

- Will be a part of a new shared continuity (something else carried over from the Space Sheriff trilogy, though Shirakura doesn't mention this).

- Next year's season, which hasn't been ironed out yet, will drift even further from Sentai conventions.

- It will be aimed at a similar audience to Kamen Rider.

It definitely sounds like Gavan Infinity was designed with the intention of easing Sentai fans into a new series by keeping some similarities. I wonder if the giant mech battles are something they plan to keep around, of it it is one of those Sentai traits they intend to "drift even further from" in the subsequent shows. Also interesting they are aiming for a similar audience to Kamen Rider, so I guess it's aimed a bit older. As long as the two series are different enough it should be fine, but I can't help but worry one will cannabalize the audience of the other if they are too close in style.

Well, I think it makes sense then to present weekly episodes of both shows as a single video file on the Youtube or any other platforms, aka an online analogue of Super Hero Time. And for those who prefer one particular title, make a note so it's convenient to watch. Although this might make it difficult for Toei to evaluate the new project.
