I knew he was coming back. Sure, his life in now in the toilet so to speak; but I'm sure this'll make a lot of people happy as clams.
With strange comic stunts like this I've learnt to just laugh it off. You have to have a sense of humor when stupid things happen and let creators know what works and what doesn't. KRX, your prays have been answered. Okay, I guess you want my thoughts on this. After more than a year of complaining, more than a year of nerd-rage, more than a year of hurt feelings, how do I feel about the return of The Amazing Spider-Man? I'm pretty sure this is a flashback series. Dan Slott doesn't seem to have finished up with OctoPeter, and I don't think he will be for a few years. Or at least, if he's going to go the route that everyone thinks he will (Peter returns to find his life in ruins), I don't think he should. My main problem with The Superior Spider-Man isn't that Peter Parker isn't Spider-Man. My main problem is that the Spider-Man that replaced him is not a hero. I think, objectively, The Superior Spider-Man is a good comic. It has an engaging story, interesting side-characters, and a very nice sense of unpredictability. My one gripe (aside from Humberto Ramos's artwork) is that I can't get behind Doctor Octopus as a hero. Yes, crime has gone down thanks to his efforts as Spider-Man, a lot more than what Peter accomplished. But he does not honor the code of Spider-Man. That lesson, which Peter gave to him with his dying breath? It's rendered naught in five issues. The responsibility that comes with the power? Otto doesn't have that. He only has his arrogant displays. I can only think of one instance in which I could get behind him as a hero, and that was when he performed surgery on that little girl. With all of that, one would think that I'd want Peter back immediately, right? With the direction the story seems to be going in right now, I think Slott should wait a bit. I would love to have Peter back. But I think the best way for him to come back would be to have Otto give Peter his life back. Otto needs to make the choice, not because of his arrogance, but because it's the heroic thing to do. In a story where a villain becomes a hero, the best way to end it would be to have the hero make the heroic choice. Otto took up the mantle of Spider-Man because of his desire to make Peter Parker inferior, not a newfound sense of responsibility. Otto has yet to learn what it means to be a hero. His story should end with that. Then I can say that, even though I complained about it over and over and over again, in the end, Otto Octavius's stint as Spider-Man was worthwhile. |

Can't belive I'm saying this but I've enjoyed some of the Superior Spider-Man comics I've read. I have been VERY out of the loop with comics and hated the idea of Doc Ock as Spidey but yea color me impressed. Peter's "return" is inevitable but for now the ride for Superior from what I've seen, has been decent.

I debated putting this in the video games thread or here, but I think it fits better here.
Lego Marvel Superheroes is hands down the best Marvel game I've ever played. This game is AMAZING in its scale! The whole island of Manhattan is open for your open ended-roaming and you have a huge library of characters to play with. This video alone shows you the potential of how awesome it is: And that's not even including the rich lore this game is built on. The designers have clearly shown their work, with numerous references to both the Marvel movies and the comics, along with a ton of pop-culture references. Basically, any character that Marvel Studios has licensed in movies gets the movie version (Iron man, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D.) while those that haven't been licensed use the comic versions (Spider-man, X-men, Fantastic Four). With all their homework done, the developers have crafted a surprisingly exciting adventure that takes place all over famous Marvel locales, including but not limited to:
And many more that I would rather not spoil here. It's not perfect (some control issues), but I've not had this much fun in a Marvel game in a long time, and I highly recommend Lego Marvel Superheroes to any Marvel fan (unless you really hate the movies, because they take a lot of inspiration from them).

I have no idea why people hate Spider-Island. The main story itself was awesome, and the tie-ins were unintrusive but interesting.

Looks like I'll have to convince my dad to subscribe to this comic. And Ms. Marvel. And probably The Amazing Spider-Man, depending on the twist that Dan Slott was talking about. I'm pretty sure that I haven't seen it, so I can't say. |

Read Issue 14 of the indestructible Hulk and man I´m stoked about the next issue (yeah I know I´m behind a few months xD).
This Series is the biggest surprise for me that came out of Marvel Now and Waid is kicking ass with every issue just like he does on Daredevil. Everyone with a passing interest in the green goliath should check it out its great stuff. |

And 2: Carol Danvers, Sharon Ventura, Karla Sofen or Kamala Khan? I'm guessing Kamala. Last edited by GoseiWonder; 01-12-2014 at 06:33 PM.. |
