Considering it's the Beetleborgs we're working with, probably not.

It can still work I think if they copy some aspects of the Goosebumps movie like I mentioned earlier. Dont try to make it a grimdark young adult superhero movie but a goofy horror movie for kids where the kids just happen to get to be their favorite comic book heroes as a method to stopping the monster craze thanks to a genie.
Quote:
So they can keep Art Fortunes for the sequel and Metallix. So it's Addams Family meets Power Rangers movie, with a dose of Stranger Things. Let the scariness of the monster house be there, but keep the campiness. And definitely keep Flabber. Make the first film more about the character building, new powers, accidental escaped bad guys, and the ecchi manga escapee as the main one that needs to have its story finished, with the rest ending on the 'adventure of the fight continues on!' This way we also get some slimy tentacle gross monster stuff and a demigorgon type pawn that won't bow to the badguys, and scares them, and has typical manga monster type powers similar to stranger things in a way. So we can it trying to attack the school the kids are at and some scary scenes like that. Next movie, Shadowborg. Badguys being deathly afraid of going near Manga ever again, and bring in the white blaster beetleborg as a new kid that moves to town. Third movie, Metallix and giant robos. With finale that includes the astral borgs. All new designs. More 'realistic' stylized, but also very comic booky, and up the scary on the monster house and the detail there. So the campiness plays off of them more with the 'don't judge by appearances' aspect. The badguys should be mildly updated too, still look relatively the same mostly scarier and less rubber suit like, but not as gross as the main monster that even scares the bad guys, so we keep some old school comic book campiness with them too. The show wasn't that popular to have a movie adaptation.

Probably true in comparison to Power Rangers. But if they decide to I would not mind a Goosebumps-ish adaptation.

I’d find to make the Astral Borgs go Magna Defender style passing on their powers to the next generation. Heather would be the next Ladyborg.

Out of the tier of adapted Toku, only Power Rangers, Ultraman, and Beetleborgs really made any kind of impact whatsoever. The others kind of flopped hard. Though Beetleborgs and VR Troopers are likely closer to tied. But hey, if even Gridman can get a revival, why not. And I gotta admit, your adaptation idea is dead on perfect. Few minor tweaks needed to give it some extra scary and yield some longevity, but otherwise is exactly right and could really work well. It'd be a quick easy cash grab for a trilogy and toy market resurgence. Which could greatly increase the odds of Toei doing a new B-Fighter metal hero series too if it gain audience traction. TBH, VR Troopers and Beetleborgs should both get movies. They're perfectly timed for the modern day with the increase of VR tech, and the heavier prevalence of comic media. Quote:
Which if done right, and in cooperation with Boom Studios, can lead to Animated or new live action "Spectral Borgs" series based on the comics that are the comics in the Beetleborgs movie itself. Like Toy Story and Buzz's Space Command cartoon series that's the cartoon his toy story toy is from. Last edited by Librarian; 07-24-2018 at 11:53 PM.. |

I like the idea of a Goosebumps-ish vibe in a Beetleborgs movie.
But for the comics thing, should stay with that Marvel/DC style? Or put the Beetleborgs into a manga comic? Plus the question is with the Magnavores & Crustaceans (which is weird to call them that). And wonder if they can remake the theme somehow. Check this out! https://www.deviantart.com/ryderdeca...ve-Action-Cast Last edited by henshinzero; 07-25-2018 at 06:24 PM.. |

Back on the question if they should do this. They should. Beetleborgs was originally what inspired the Dinothunder superpowers out of suit, which was what inspired it in the film too. So it'd be a great idea for Saban to do this one.

Now that's not to say it can't be something like the old Ultraman Towards the Future comics though where it was still based on re-doing what was originally a toku as the source inpsiration but was written by comic writers with colored comic pages and normal american comics standards and was original content. But directly doing them as manga instead of armored superheroes like Atomik Angels and similar would be a bad idea and negate things needed like Art Fortunes, also the comic shop, and similar stuff like that as well as the ease of access of the comic material for the bad trio. Manga isn't that popular as yet in floppies form for mainstream, and we need something with color and in floppies. Not something that's heavily graphic novel based. Otherwise why even do Beetleborgs other than for the name itself. Why not make it something fully new instead as an homage property. The entire Art Fortunes angle itself is a Jack Kirby nod too. As well as a TMNT nod of a story about an artist/writer that Donatello found that made things come to life/got sucked into the art themselves. So removing that and making it manga instead starts to remove chunks of the soul of what made Beetleborgs what it was. The monsters need that American comics campiness. That's not as common in Manga(even the most campiest of Manga still has an edge of realism to motivations and aspects, whereas campy american stuff is straight up cheesy full blown and the humor styles are entirely different plus the cultural differences), which was why I recommended a completely unrelated monster from a manga getting sucked out too, as it'd present that contrast of creative aspects to genre and comic types. As for updated design, I'd lean on getting an artist like who did Atomik Angels in the 90s or similar, but blend it with a small dash of the new Power Rangers designs, and some other elements from a mish mash of things like Ironman's infinity war suit, and Kamen Rider Kabuto with of course some B-Fighter original aspects. So kind of a mild blend of Metal Fighter Miku(80s anime), original B-Fighter, KR Kabuto, and Ironman Mk 50 with the dual katars and glove style. Speaking of Manga though. I wouldn't mind if they used that kind of pitch for Shadow Lady as a movie. Where the transforming makeup comes out of a manga because of a deal with a demon. That wouldn't be too far from what it was with the magic makeup for how she transformed coming from the magic world anyway. That'd actually be a fantastic way for a Hollywood movie to parody Cutie Honey, and Sailor Moon and similar genre types while still doing them justice. Actually really miss that manga. Gotcha!
What about.... - The Beetleborgs? - Flabber & the Hillhurst monsters? - Magnavores? - White Blaster & Shadowborg? - Art Fortunes? Metallix: - Les Fortunes & the Crustaceans? - Astral Borgs & Mantrons? Perhaps start with the movie as an origin story when the Beetleborgs got their powers? By the way, check this out! https://www.deviantart.com/ryderdeca...ve-Action-Cast 1st movie: Origin story 2nd movie: Shadowborg & White Blaster 3rd movie: Crustaceans 4th movie: Roboborg vs Boron White Blaster Beetleborg needs an upgrade! And the Astral Borgs? Maybe start off with the originals vs the Mantrons trying to get all the coins. Then later, the Astral Borgs pass on their powers to new users. Like say Heather as the new Ladyborg. |
