All he needs to do next is to be an older brother to a new Metal Hero or a new Ultraman.

This episode sucked. Stinger was a spy all along? Get the fuck outta here. What a lame way to handle this character. Champ kind of accepts things even though we still don’t know what really happened with Stinger and the Professor is also weird.
And then the big shit: They are going to stay on Earth for the rest of the series now, right? Oh come on. That was the most interesting thing about this show. Now it really is just your run-of-the-mill crappy Sentai show. Why even give them a space ship? Why even make it space themed? I know they did this before but still. Different locations with CG backgrounds would’ve done it to keep the illusion up, and that can’t be more expensive than having to needlessly render two Voyagers who apparently don’t have physical suit forms. Add boring characters and lame fight scenes with forced mecha fights and you have the typical Sentai shit I can’t stand. If this show can’t get a grip until episode 10 I’m out. |

Also, I swear I will stop watching before episode 10 if they don't stop spamming that script for Lucky shouting his catchphrase. It's more grating than Ghosts' Onari and all of Fourze combined.

Dang, I see this show is still failing to find much of an audience around here. I thought this was pretty awesome, myself. Shocking, I know.
Stinger being a spy makes a ton of sense to me, given that: - Where the heck else did he get his Blaster? - Kyutamas actually don't like bad guys, that's not just Lucky being stupid. I can't be like "OMG I totally called it!", but I'm also terrible at speculation, so I don't know. Obviously the show sort of needed him to be a good guy sooner rather than later anyway, and they're still playing up the loner angle, so it's not like he isn't still a little unique. We'll see how his whole deal with Champ plays out. I'll go on record right now as saying that if it turns out to just be "I didn't actually kill that guy", that'll be genuinely lame, but his dialogue in episode 3 seemed to suggest he DID do it, so who knows. As for Champ himself, it seems pretty clear he's more begrudgingly accepting Stinger's help than actually being okay with it, so again I'm not really sure what else people would expect here.

Where the heck did the good guys get them from anyways? I mean who made them? They could just come out of nowhere like the Kyutama, which means everyone could get one if needed.
And if they are made, it would be easy to explain that Stinger happened to come across a facility where they are build and took one simply because it appealed to him as a weapon, without knowing it's needed for a Kyuranger transformation. Quote:
Why can't it just be that these Kyutamas react to strong willed individuals? That would leave room for their alignment to themselves. But then again this is a kid’s show and that's apparently an excuse for rules which define what is evil or good depending on who's got the tamas instead of character development. And yes, with tamas I mean balls. I mean Stinger has still lots of interesting stories to be told with his brother and all, but man why do they need all nine assembled in the first 5 episodes anyways. I mean I know why, merchandising, but they could’ve just worked with the basic 5, upgrade to six like usual and have the other 3 more or less part-timers or in case of Stinger actual antagonists at first. To be honest they could’ve easily rolled Stinger and his brother into one character and then had some fun with it. Instead of "He was a spy all along". Fuck you Kyuranger, that’s so stupid. |

Anyway, I'm done. Probably shouldn't have been reading this thread before trying to watch the episode, but I got about five minutes in - the point where the little kids show up and start throwing rocks at the monsters - before I decided that I really just didn't care to see where this went and there are far more interesting things I'd rather devote my time to than this underwhelming pile of disappointment. Switchblade out. |
